Interview with Princess Alice — Little bit of everything

Princess Alice is a 19-year old model residing in Bangor, Maine.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Well, hello there. I’m Princess Alice and I’m about to let you know a bit about myself. I was born in Maine and was raised in a decent sized family that grew once my parents got divorced. I was raised to be accepting of other people which also helped when I became the age that I am because well, I’m not that normal. I have a handful of hobbies which are target shooting, archery, reading, theatre, obviously modeling, among others. I am currently going to college and studying psychology so I can help those who are or were effected by a type of eating disorder.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I started modeling due to my senior photos. The photographer who took my photos soon invited me to a group photo shoot. This lead to another group photo shoot and a few one on one shoots with another photographer plus the one who did my senior photos. Once I began to get more comfortable with modeling, I applied and was accepted into “The Chateau – Cat Girl Manor” and most recently was accepted into “KittenSightings”.

Princess Alice sitting on a treeWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals are to be able to eventually start my own eating disorder rehabilitation center and home in Maine. My professional goals are to be able to start being paid for my modeling, be more well known in the modeling community, and be in magazines. I honestly don’t know where I will be in 5 to 10 years. One thing I do know is that I will have pet cats for sure haha.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I try to model as much as I can with my two photographers I work with. This can be hard since my first choice photographer is booked until 2016 and my second photographer is also in school. The shoots usually depend on if they’re for The Chateau or KittenSightings. If not for those two then the photographer and I will decide on a theme and story behind the shoot. I have done fantasy, glamour, boudoir, pin-up, and horror so far.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best modeling experiences I’ve had is when I’m completely comfortable with the photographer I work with. This is usually though with my two main photographers. I have had a couple negative experiences with people who wanted to do shoots with me. The people will come off creepy and not consider how I feel, what will make me more relaxed, and will over all be incredibly rude. Turns out, these people were scams.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Oh goodness! There was this one shoot I was doing in an abandoned train station in the summer of 2014. Since it was abandoned, there was a metric poop ton of bugs through out the building. I was posed up against a wall that some patches of plaster missing and the beams could be seen. While moving in different ways, I began to feel something on my arm. Without thinking, I looked down to see the huge spider. I’m deathly terrified of spiders so I immediately begin screaming and flailing around. When my photographer asks me what’s going on, I flung myself at her to get the damn thing off. Probably the one shoot that sticks out that makes the photographer and I always laugh.

Princess Alice modeling a dress in the snowIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The only thing I can honestly think of at the time being is changing the height requirements. I may be biased though since I’m 5 foot 3 inches.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I honestly don’t really exercise besides stretching everyday. I run on the summer but I can’t during the winter here because my campus doesn’t have a track available during the winter and doesn’t have treadmills. I do try to eat as healthy as I can though. Most days I have salad with turkey or chicken on it for lunch. I only allow myself to eat fast food every other week if that.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I absolutely freaking love any form of potato as long as it doesn’t have anything spicy in it.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would change how I see myself. I want to have a more positive look of myself. That’s why I model, I’m hoping that I will slowly gain more confidence about myself through it.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Ben and Jerry’s fish food. You give me a pint of it and it will be gone in 30 minutes.

Interview with Kiri Ann Fischer

Kiri Ann Fischer is a 21-year old model residing in Saint Charles, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I grew in up in Illinois, I’ve moved twice in my life, but have always called home the Chicagoland suburbs. My family is very tight-knit, and they are the most important thing in the world to me. My hobbies include running, going to the gym, listening to music, going to concerts, spending time with my family and boyfriend, driving, writing, and reading. As far as modeling goes, I would love to continue to branch out and shoot new things, as well as get new viewers and collaborators. Outside of modeling, I do work a full time job and live a pretty normal life.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved in the modeling industry when I was 16 years old, and I immediately fell in love with it. When I was younger, I loved ballet and ice skating and just getting dolled up, in general; It is something that has carried with me throughout my life, and having the outlet to model and express myself in various ways is therapeutic, as well as a huge part of who I am. I started with doing photoshoots with friends who wanted to do photography, as well as establishing a few photographers as my go-to’s, that I would shoot with on a monthly basis. From there, it branched out to collaborating with various talented photographers, makeup artists, wardrobe designers and stylists, and companies.

Kiri Ann Fischer modeling a black mini skirtWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

The goal is to keep growing, on a personal and a professional basis, with myself, with my personal goals, as well as with my career and career goals. I will probably model throughout the rest of my life, in some aspect; I want to see new places, shoot with more people, and be a part of many different projects. I would ultimately love to be involved in more pin up and tattoo-oriented magazines, publications, and clothing lines, as it is what I take the most personal interest in, as far as genres go.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

It depends on what else is going on in my life at that time, I was modeling about 2 to 3 gigs per week my first year of college, but it had a negative impact on my grades so I began to lay low until summer. After I graduated, I did gigs here and there, but became very selective; now, I typically do one to two gigs, including shoot, audition, and others, per week, and I am looking to increase my work load, as my day job is much more stable and offers more freedom. I love to do it all- runway, promo, pin up, fashion, art, alt, commercial, glamour, beauty, and sports- I do not box myself in at all.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experiences would include doing Playboy events. They were so much fun, I met a lot of cool people, and even made good friends throughout it. They also spoiled us so generously; runway shows are great because having my family come out and support me is one of the greatest feelings in the world, plus I love the theatrics of it.

The worst experiences would include creepy stuff, like some girls taking my bio or resume and trying to claim it as their own, or someone impersonating me online. Stalking and inappropriate propositioning are on the worst list, as well.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve gotten some awesome stuff over the years, like a company who offered to create a comic book after me. It was really, really flattering and I have a couple prints of it at home.

Kiri Ann Fischer in a garden wearing jeansIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the negative aspects of it- both interior and exterior, for example, the sickness it could cause from the pressure to achieve a certain image. Beauty standards only exist if you chose to follow them, for me personally, I like who I am and what I stand for too much to allow myself to go down that path anymore. I also wish there was a way to eliminate non-legitimate people in the industry.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Yes, I love sports! I workout about 5 days per week: I love to run, and I do a lot of cardio, although I do strength train here and there. Skating, yoga, and any sort physical activity I can possibly pack into my week, I’m always game for. As far as nutrition, I’ve been a vegetarian for eight years and I try to incorporate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables into my day. I drink a lot of water. If I splurge, it’s on pizza or whiskey. Health and wellness is incredibly important to me, as a whole however.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Some interesting things that people probably do not know about me is that I have generalized anxiety disorder, I want to travel a lot, I’ve probably worked every job you could imagine at some point, and Tim Beidron is my dream tattoo artist, maybe he will see this and hook me up with some nice ink?.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would not change a thing about who I am, because it has brought me to the point in my life where I am today, and I am very content with that. I am incredibly lucky to be where I am at this point in my life, with the people I have, and all of the beautiful experiences I have. I am extremely thankful for that, and I am more excited for the future now, than I have ever been in my whole life.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Exercise, I’m generally pretty introverted so I prefer solo workouts. Other than that, probably sing and nerd out to music in my car.

Interview with Ally Cat Chaos — Aspiring Tattoo Artist & Part Time Model

Ally Cat Chaos is a 22-year old model residing in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello lovely’s, well to start off I was born in Witch City Salem, Massachusetts. I started modeling September 2011 at that point it was just a hobby. I was more focused on my art and being an apprentice. When I turned 18 years old I worked under Jon Saulnier. I moved to the Sunshine State, Florida to continue to pursue my goals of becoming a tattoo artist and build a bigger name for myself in the modeling industry. In addition to my art and modeling I do side show acts fire eating, fire breathing, glass eating and glass walking. One of the more recent things I’ve been practicing is sword swallowing. I’m hoping to start doing suspensions fairly soon.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got inspired to start researching modeling and how to build a portfolio while I was working with my mentor Jon Saulnier. I regularly had customers ask me if I had done modeling or tell me I should. It was humbling to hear that people were interested in seeing the aspects of my style and that my self expression was something they liked.

Ally Cat Chaos making sand castles at the beachWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My life goals are to continuously meet new and interesting people. Never become too old to learn and to grow into the best individual I can be. In five years I see myself tattooing full time and modeling part time.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Modeling is a lot of scheduling and travel. I model commercial clothing, art and lots of lingerie and modern pin up. I do anything from super sexy to bloody gore. I also do promotion for bands and work merchandise booths while they tour.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I consider all my experiences modeling good ones. Either it was a good learning experience on how to avoid bad situations again or I had an absolute blast.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

During my modeling career I’ve had so much happen I’ll just name a couple of the funniest times. Well first off modeling isn’t always easy when a photographer says hold it, you hold it and that could be a minute or ten while they change the lights or so on and so forth. Long story short I had a photographer tell me to hold it while I was on one foot in very high heels and the edge of a very unstable table. Oh yeah, I went tumbling after almost dieing from laughter and assuring my photographer I was okay I asked him if we could try that shot again. There was also a new year’s shoot I did while wearing pasties I wanted sparklers in them so I created holes for the handle of the sparkler. After putting two in the hole and lighting them I realized the handles were metal. They began to get very hot very fast but I really wanted the shot so I let that baby sparkle. Needless to say I had a bit of a toasted nipple.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change anything about the modeling industry it would be the perspective of some of the on lookers. I would allow them to realize modeling is a job it does not make you a slut or a whore and not all modeling leads to pornography.

Ally Cat Chaos wearing lingerie on a bedDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

To be honest I could eat better, I’m a frequent visitor of dunkin donuts and domino’s. I do however try and work out at least once a week even if it’s just a quick run with the pooch.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Most people don’t know that I graduated an honor roll student and because of my grades I was given the opportunity to work a job during school hours as class credits.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I change myself frequently to keep developing into the best me I can be and I encourage everyone to do the same. Reach for your goals, kick down the doors, get to where you want to be.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

If I could have any super power it would be the ability to make people see themselves how others see them and who they really are. I feel that most people are too hard on themselves and if they could see how others genuinely feel about them, see them and who they really are as a person they would be more accepting. Also on the other hand those who aren’t doing the right thing will see the error of their ways and how they will end up and maybe learn from their mistakes and become better people.

Interview with Kittie Kosmetic — From Cosmetology to Cameras

Kittie Kosmetic is a 21-year old model residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Los Angeles, California on April 20th 1993. I was born to two immigrated parents from Albania and Trinidad, with two older sisters already in the picture. Growing up I always had a huge love for the 50s and 60s, the classic style of a pin up, and makeup. As some hobbies I took interest in painting, singing, dabbling with special effect make up and naps.

My interest include horror films, old cinema, comics and fashion. After school I went to cosmetology school and shortly after graduation started to model.

Kittie Kosmetic modeling black lingerieWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Right after I graduated I worked on photo sets as Hair and Make up person. One day after the model ran late the photographer on set asked if he could shoot me, after he published the photos on Facebook the rest wrote itself.
I just bounced around doing shoots and local events that called for models and networked myself out.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally, I’d love to make the cover of a tattoo magazine one day, and start a lingerie line.
Personally, start a little punk rock family in the middle of suburbia and find myself on the beach every other day… or just become a mermaid.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I shoot whenever I can, unfortunately real life gets in the way of me playing dress up. Idealy one day I’d love to shoot at least once a week.

When I find myself in front of a camera you can bet I’m most likely seductively posed in some pumps, red lipstick, a garter belt and pin curls, as the little pin up of your dreams. Though on occasion I’ll go out of my zone and go editorial.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

How can I pick a best moment… each time I shoot the people I’ve worked with have been wonderful and have left great lasting memories that make me want to strive in this career. Luckily I haven’t had any worst experiences; fingers crossed I’ll never do.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I always feel really awkward when I shoot in public and people stare or take their own photos while I hold a pose…. weird…

Kittie Kosmetic yelling at a phoneIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think it is what it is and I love it for what it is.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love home cooked meals. But as far as precise diet and exercise I really don’t do anything. I’d like to thank my mom and dad for the genetics.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m terrified of the dark and to do a cartwheel….. They scare the hell out of me,

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’d love to have a bigger ass, but other than that, I really like myself.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I hate the dark, I will cry if I’m stuck in a dark room. I sleep with 3 night lights and the TV on.

Interview with Miss Black Lagoon — A Colorado siren

Miss Black Lagoon is a 20-year old model residing in Longmont, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am a published made alternative model based in Colorado. I am also a very proud mother of a little boy. I was raised in East L.A. with a somewhat normal upbringing. I went to Sunday school for 1 semester as a child but I was also very strong opinionated and I almost got in trouble one time when my teacher asked me if I thought I was as perfect as Jesus Christ and I said “yes” and she yelled at me and I was so confused as to why. I don’t really let others think for me. As a child I wrote a lot of poetry and that still follows me today. I still write and sometimes even write short novels. I have interests in almost anything; I can adopt to almost anything that intrigues me so it’s very hard for make to have dull moments. I grew up having a father as a tattoo artist so I was able to look through the magazines he would buy such as Tattoo, Ink, Flash and others… And when I would look through them I would always see all these beautiful models with tattoos and I knew that one day I would want to be just like them.

Miss Black Lagoon face closeupWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved in modeling when I was approached my a local photographer in my town. She saw that I was able to do victory rolls -a hair do- on myself and asked if I wanted to do a pinup photo shoot and I said yes. I was only 17 at the time and that was the first ever pinup photo shoot that I did and when I turned 18 I decided to post those pictures on Model Mayhem and that’s when my modeling career sort of snow balled into what it is now.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal is to just be very well known and let people know what I do or what I like to do and let my passion for modeling shine through to the point where I am taken as a serious alternative model. I would love to just get my name out there.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I mainly do a lot of alternative pinup photo shoots. Currently I’m in the process of starting a calendar. I would love to do more video work, I was involved in the music video “Karla the strange ” by Maddy Ellwanger. And I also have experience with competing in Pin Up contests.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Most of the shoots I have are always so great that it’s hard to pick the best and I’ve never really have had a “worst” experience yet.

I like to work with professional people who respect me as I will always respect them, so I am very picky at who I choose to work with and because of that I rarely get a bad experience.

Miss Black Lagoon posing at a red doorHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I have had soo many that it is seriously so weird to even mention. This one time I wore such see through clear under wear that my private part was showing and I have no idea. It was seriously an embarrassing moment.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would love for more alternative models to get more recognition in the high fashion industry.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Unforgivably I don’t play sports or eat healthy but I do make it a priority every night or at least 5 nights a week to work out.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am very obsessed with tarantulas and bats. I’ve always been as a child. I never really had a cat or a dog as a pet when I was younger but I always had a pet tarantula around.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would love more tattoos.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

Dying without leaving an impact on someone scares me to death.

Interview with Lillie DeLaVallee — Mermaid, World Traveler and Model

Lillie DeLaVallee is a 25-year old model residing in Santa Rosa, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

A quarter of a century ago, I was born in the lush greenery of Mendocino County in Northern California. We are known for possession of world-renowned quality in 3 areas: Women, wine and weed. Growing up in such a small, rural area was actually quite a blessing. I would spend much of my early childhood putting on my mother’s makeup and playing dress up. Perhaps this is why modeling is so much fun for me. I studied psychology at UC Santa Cruz and plan on being a therapist. If I had not entered the world of psychology, I would have studied astronomy. I also am an herbalist and health nut. I believe we are exactly what we put into our bodies! I love to cook, bake and garden. I encompass the meaning of being a modern day mermaid. I feel most at ease near the ocean and I know with certainty that I would never be happy living too far inland.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My first modeling experience happened when I was living in Santa Cruz. My friend from home came to visit me and wanted me to join her in a shoot at Natural Bridges Beach. I had always loved to play with makeup and dress up. After one day, somewhere between the waves and the camera, I totally fell in love with the high that comes from modeling. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Lillie DeLaVallee wearing a red dressWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My ideal goal with modeling is to become a Guess Model. I have always been in love with their black and white, ultra sultry images since I can remember. Modeling has encouraged me to perfect my own skills with makeup artistry, so I could also pursue the MUA route on top of modeling. My professional goals include getting my PsyD from a university of my choosing and helping the world become better communicators. I believe most conflict stems from misunderstandings and that with the right words and an open mind, people stand a much better chance of getting along. In five to ten years, I see myself balancing between modeling and psychology.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I have been modeling on and off now for 3 years. I have done a wide array of shoots: glamour, pin up, high fashion, editorial, lifestyle, and alternative. My shoots have had a tendency to shift with my hair color. I went from naturally blonde and more innocent, to pink and alternative, and now I’m at a deep burgundy and red which bears a bit of an air of old hollywood glamour.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve actually had primarily great experiences. The only uncomfortable situation I’ve had was when a photographer really pressured me to get naked, but I resisted and persisted. That’s nothing new in the modeling world though!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

The funniest site I’ve shot at was this ultra creepy and old building in the woods with one of my close friends Kendall. We shot with a photographer that we love, Craig Gardner, and we got to be total dorks between sets and lighting shifts. There were giant spiders, bullet shells, sweat and tears trying to lug all our gear up a steep path. We trudged through and had an awesome time!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think it’s silly that you have to be 5’7″ and up or 5’5″ and below to fit into categories. I’m 5’6″. Where do all the ladies who are 5’6″ fit in? I guess I’ll just have to create my own category! Plus, in this day and age, there’s so many wonderful inventions and editing techniques, not to mention really tall high heels… Unless you’re on the runway, your height shouldn’t categorize you.

Lillie DeLaVallee wearing a red miniskirt at the beachDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love hooping and pilates. I’m a green smoothie girl. If you haven’t heard of moringa and aren’t adding superfoods to your regimen, you’re doing it wrong. Superfoods are where it’s at! I add bee pollen, maca, sometimes reishi mushroom, flax oil, dandelion greens and even ashwaganda powder to my smoothies. I have found that L-tyrosine, magnesium and ginkgo are necessary supplements for me to take in order to stay grounded and happy. Being an herbalist really has changed my perspective on health!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m half Latvian. My grandparents fled Latvia after WWII to escape the Russians and hid out in Austria until things had calmed down. They eventually settled in Fort Bragg, CA. Years later, my father met my mother in a small town in Sonoma county. If the war had never happened, I might never have been born.

Would you change anything about yourself?

As a soon-to-be-therapist, I believe there is always room for improvement, whether it may be psychological or in changing destructive habits. Habits create our realities and once you can guide your habits to match the life you want, you’re set! I think most people could use positive affirmations and some serious spiritual healing. I am constantly working on myself in many aspects, most of which are super personal.

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

I once peed behind the USF sign in San Francisco, while visiting a friend who had just been admitted to the university there. We were on a late night, semi-intoxicated hunt for Ben & Jerry’s, the ice cream, of course!. Having a full bladder and in that current moment no shame, I spotted the huge sign and raced behind it to pee. It’s kind of ironic, because now the university got a hold of my email and keeps spamming me for grad programs. So I feel like I preemptively got them back for pestering me back in 2009!

Magda Lena shares her secret nutritional tips

Magda Lena is a 21-year old model residing in Santa Cruz, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born and raised in the mountains of Santa Cruz, California. I have a passion for indulging in the beauty of nature. I am naturally compelled to hike through the local forests of redwood trees and swim through the waves of the cool pacific ocean. Positivity is my lifestyle. I choose to enjoy the challenges life brings and reach out to others by spreading love.

Magda Lena in a wheat fieldWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I began modeling at the age of 14. Participating in as many shoots as possible. While attending beauty school working towards my aesthetics license more opportunities opened up and I became involved in multiple fashion runway events. Modeling is amusing to me as expressions can be accentuated through snap shots. True beauty can be captured.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five to ten years I see my self graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz. I will be working towards my Naturopathic Medicine License. I will continue to grow in all aspects of life. I see myself partnered with a reputable model agency, working and expanding in all areas.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am currently modeling approximately once a week. It will usually be a paid photoshoot, sometimes if a photographer has an exquisite idea I will be ok to trade for photos. I am fairly new to this industry and am happy to get as much exposure as possible. Since I am a full time student I mainly do photo-shoots for local artists. I enjoy pin up shoots and playing out characters through my photos.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Judging someone’s beauty based on their physical appearance can be deceiving. Everyone is truly beautiful at heart.

Magda Lena face closeupDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love to kick box. I started about a year ago and it is fantastic. It is a unique exercise because you are not only exercising your muscles but also your brain. I love learning new combos, it is a great way to release energy! I also love to surf. My mother taught me to surf when I was 9 years old. Ever since, my love for the ocean has continued to grow. I enjoy hiking and practicing yoga.
I do my best to eat locally grown organic produce. I have adopted a gluten free, ketogenic diet. My diet consists mostly of healthy fats, moderate amounts of protein and the rest vegetables. I perform optimally when my body is fueled by ketones, rather than glucose. Coconut oil is one of my favorites as well as a concentrated form, Brain octane from the Bullet Proof executive website. I take many daily supplements, the key players are Vitamin D & C, glutathione, and Omegas derived from Algae to optimize brain function. I mix a daily cocktail mixed with spirulina & chlorella. Probiotics are taken to assist with digestion. Astragalus, Ashwaganda, and resveratrol are a few others. The list goes on but I won’t leave you too baffled.
They key with optimizing my nutrition has been to truly listen to my body and find what works best for me.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I love to be silly. I am naturally energetic and laughing is my drug.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I would not change anything about my physical appearance, if so I would not truly be myself.

What features do you look for in a partner?

In a partner I look for adventurous and outgoing qualities. I look for someone to take my adventurous side to the next level. I like a tough guy who isn’t afraid to be weak at times. I am a romantic person and therefore I like to be charmed. Cooking is essential. My ideal man doesn’t have to be a master chef. A simple candlelight dinner and I will be pleased. I pay great attention to what I put into my body and my ideal man would do the same. Realistically love prevails all.

Interview with Mimi Palafox

Mimi Palafox is a 19-year old model residing in Fremont, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! My name is Dominique, but I’ve gone by Mimi since I was very young. I was born in the Bay Area and began acting in Kindergarden. I started taking classes which helped me learn how to model. I’m studying to become a Fashion Designer, but modeling will always be one of my favorite hobbies.

Mimi Palafox wallking on a pipeWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I kinda just threw myself into it by begging my mom to sign me up for classes! I was really young when I started and I’m glad I have gotten a chance to learn as much as I can. Having an agency for a while definitely helped me develop more and I have worked with some amazing people.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I hope to own my own business and on my downtime model for photographers. My dream would to be to become an alternative model and travel, but I would like to get more in shape and get covered before I can accomplish that.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I really enjoy anything artsy! Big hair and makeup, with dramatic poses are always my favorite. I also enjoy pin up and anything with a more darker theme. I would love to find some photographers that specialize in just that, because I’ve got a lot of clever poses practiced already.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience would be working for Pixar as I posed as a “cheerleader” for Monsters University. I got to see everything backstage and wore an official Disney costume which was pretty amazing. Sadly I’ve had many bad experiences, although I think that good and bad come hand in hand, and it’s mainly come from people not being professional. I love it when everyone is focused and professional in a shoot.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I wish that there were more opportunities for alternative crowds up in Northern California. It seems as though it’s really hopping in Southern California and would love to see that trend start moving up.

Mimi Palafox checking on her thighDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I grew up running around from auditions to soccer practice and have learned that balance is key. I workout nearly everyday and hope to work my butt off to attain my ideal body shape. I usually eat sandwiches, light pastas, salads and on the occasion, a juicy cheeseburger. I’m definitely a foodie, but I try limiting my fat and sugar intake. I think nutrition and exercise is vital to maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle. You just got to see what works for you!

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I think that you should try growing everyday and evolve into the person you want to be. There are some things I wish I could change about me and there are things I don’t have the ability to change. I just need to accept the person I am, love myself, and try to change for the better.

How do you think you are most likely to die?

Such a great question! I think my ideal death would be at an old age surrounded by the people I love. I want to see nothing but smiles when I leave this earth. But I will probably end up dying by doing some sort of extreme sport that’s too extreme for me to handle!

Interview with Victoria Vertuga

Victoria Vertuga is a 25-year old professional model from Los Angeles, California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC in Music Industry with minors in communications, business, and theater.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m a California girl born and raised, a magna cum laude USC graduate, a huge dog lover and proud pitbull rescuer, a foodie, and a total goofball.

I’m a full time actress and model. I recently appeared in the season premier of Dexter and the long running soap opera Days of Our Lives. I’m all natural with no tattoos, crazy piercings, or extensions- I’m old school that way! I love to cook, it must be in my blood. All the women in my family are amazing cooks, and my great grandfather was a chef in Southern Italy. I’m a huge sports fan, especially college football and NBA basketball. My teams are the USC Trojans, and the Lakers. (Let’s just pretend we don’t know about this season though). I love to laugh and have fun and am NEVER afraid to make a fool of myself.

Victoria Vertuga in a revealing outfitWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

For me, acting actually came first. A photographer who was taking my acting headshots asked me if I’d be interested in working on a pin up project he was doing. I’ve always LOVED pin up, so I said yes, and the rest is history. 😉 I began adding modeling to the mix alongside acting and everything else I was doing.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I never know what tomorrow will hold, which is all part of the excitement and the journey. Of course I’m striving to be a part of as many wonderful projects as possible, both print work and film. I’m working on finishing my first feature length screenplay. I plan on producing the film myself and am really looking forward to having creative control on a project like that. I really want to continue to do more work in television and film and keep working commercially.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

The thing about being a full time freelancer in any capacity is that your weeks are all over the place. I have insanely busy times and times that are more slow. Every week is different than the week before. I’m usually running around all over for auditions, castings, and photo shoots.

As far as acting goes, commercials are my bread and butter. I do a lot of independent films as well. I’ve been fortunate to begin to delve into the world of mainstream television with Days of Our Lives and Dexter and would absolutely LOVE to do more television.

As far as modeling goes, I do a mix of commercial print, swimwear/lingerie catalogs, men’s magazines, pin up, and beauty. Some days I have 2 shoots and I’m going from a super sexy vixen to a smiley, natural girl next door. It’s fun to be able to mix it up.

Victoria Vertuga retro portraitPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

This is an industry of extreme highs and extreme lows, so I’ve definitely had my share of both good and bad.

One of my best experiences so far was being on the show Dexter. I had a small role, but the cast and crew were so nice. They really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome and it was such a great set environment.

On the bad experience front, Last year I was hired to be a body double/stand in for a girl in a feature horror film who didn’t want to do any of the scenes where she was wearing lingerie. They contacted and hired me because supposedly my measurements matched hers exactly. Turns out she had lied about her measurements, and was a full 30 lbs and 2 cups sizes bigger. After having to go around to the director, dp, producers, actress, and seemingly a million other people and allow them to scrutinize my body and talk amongst themselves about me, I got fired because my “boobs are too small.” Mistakes get made, no problem. But I have never been treated so rudely before! Fortunately, it was all so ridiculous that it was pretty funny.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Definitely. I was modeling on the rooftop of a studio downtown. They were doing construction on the street below so it was blocked off. Three cars in row ended up driving into the ‘Street Closure” signs because they were looking at us on the rooftop. The crew eventually came up and asked us if we could wrap it up for the safety of the drivers. No one was hurt, just minor damage.

Victoria Vertuga in a black dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I hate the fact that so much of it seems to be random good luck and connections versus talent and work ethic. I wish it was a bit more “fair” in that regard. It would be great to see talented, hard working people rewarded more than they actually are.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do heavy weight lifting with a trainer twice a week. I jog with my 2 pitbulls every morning. I do yoga when I can make time. And I volunteer walking dogs at the animal shelter whenever my schedule allows. I love being active. I say I’m like a little terrier dog that goes stir crazy without exercise. On the nutrition front, I’m a total foodie and I love to cook/bake, so I don’t deny myself anything, but splurge on the good stuff in moderation and make healthy choices whenever possible.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

So many random facts!! Pick your poison!
I skipped 6th grade.
I’m all natural (including my hair color).
I’m a huge animal lover and do volunteer work with Best Friends LA/No Kill LA.
I grew up riding horses and really want to get cast in a project where I get to ride!

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

We’re our own worst critics. We all have those things we wish we could change, but I’ve learned to embrace it. If I had super powers I’d give myself a bigger, rounder butt. I love butts! LOL. But I’m happy with my body as it is.
