Interview with Karishma — I am not perfect but I feel perfect

Karishma is a 24-year old model residing in Des Plaines, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Chicago Illinois, moved to Texas for 13 years, and came back to the place I always felt had my heart. My family means the world to me, parents are the only ones that devote as much unconditional love as anyone possibly can and that is the thing I am most grateful for. I am a part time student studying Business as well as working at a hotel on Tuesdays, where I get paid to do homework as well as a Limo driver. I also work as a promotional model and traveling brand ambassador. Traveling is my life and if I get paid to travel, that is perfect. I utilize my time very wisely, trying to make money while doing what I love as well as weaving a safety net, in other words, school.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

In high school I struggled through bullying, leading to extreme self consciousness and self criticizing thoughts which lead to awkward relationships with people, resulting in the further decomposition of my confidence and my life. Although I was not confident, there was one place I felt confident, and that was in front of the camera.

Although I was told repeatedly I would never be good enough by my peers, I did it, and this persistence is now making me great side income.

Through years of finding who I am, rebuilding my confidence, and realizing that the series of unfortunate events made me stronger as a person and more compassionate towards others, I am who I am today, and I am so thankful for it. Modeling has given me the ability to have a little bit of confidence, which I used and grew throughout my life, helping me succeed in other aspects of my journey in life. I believe confidence is attractive, ego is not.

Karishma next to a water fountainWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals include being able to sharpen my skill sets to not just work, but to live life how I want while making money to support my love for traveling.
Within the next 5 to ten years I see myself traveling the world, making interpersonal connections, making money and investments to fulfill the first four needs on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, eventually being able to fulfill that equilibrium in life, complete Self actualization. I am not just trying to be a model, but a role model.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I do modeling whenever my schedule permits and it consists of getting paid to do what I love. I couldn’t ask for more. I do photo shoots, video, working on acting, catwalks -If they allow for models under 5’7- and all sorts of modeling including Art, Editorial, Fashion, Fitness, Glamour, Hair and Makeup, Lifestyle, Parts Modeling, Pinup, Promotional Modeling, Runway, Spokesperson and Host, Sports, Stunt, Underwater.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best: Being able to travel for work as a promotional model as well as being able to work for a good cause -Breast cancer awareness calendar for Harley Davidson for the 3rd year-.
Worst: Creepy and borderline unprofessional photographers when I first started modeling. But I can pretty much weed them out right about now.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Lots of things. Every gig has a story, not just mine, but the brands as well, which I like learning about when I do model for them. Networking is key.

Karishma modeling a necklace and black blouseIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes, I would promote models of all different shapes and sizes and encourage women to love themselves more and not have unrealistic expectations for themselves.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I like to work out as well as yoga and meditation. I personally have been very thin all my life naturally and I’ve always wanted to gain weight. But eating healthy and working out the right way according to my body’s goals, which is strength training in my case- I can improve my physical appearance and wellness. The mind, body, and soul is all important to me, resulting in that perfect equilibrium in my life.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m pretty much an open book, I love learning about myself and have people learn from my experiences.

One thing some people may not know is I think very deeply. I used to think it was a curse to think too much and feel so deeply about things. But I take it as a curse and a blessing. With yin there’s yang and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Would you change anything about yourself?

24 and still trying to better myself. 74 and I’ll be doing the same. Accept what you can’t change. But be willing to take constructive criticism to change what you can. Self improvement is the name of the game

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

On the rocks… at the beach.

Interview with Charrdonnay — Fashion student turned Model

Charrdonnay is a 21-year old model residing in Denver, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey Everyone my name Is Charrdonnay I’m from Memphis and now officially a Colorado Native. I’m the youngest of three, and I come from a very talented family. My middle sister just qualified for the U.S bob sled team. My brother is a very well established artist in Denver so it’s only right to try and live up to their talents. I’m Fashion design student at Emily Griffith and in the process of opening up an online clothing store, but that might take another year or so. I love being outdoors and around friends and family, I’m not big on the club scene but I do enjoy a good night out. I love restaurants and I really want to start traveling this year.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I started modeling when I was 18 years old; I did an open casting call for an agency called Avant Tout, it was a small agency. I did a lot of runway and about a year later the agency moved to Texas. I went freelance for a while and developed myself even more. During that year I found a lot of work doing glamour and swim wear. I’ve done 3 magazines and I signed with an agent that is based in Atlanta and I have some great things coming this year, so much acting and many many more magazines.

Charrdonnay modeling a red dress on a railroadWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years I see myself running my clothing store and accomplishing all my major modeling and acting goals. I’m trying for Maxim magazine and I’ve been offered to do French Playboy, also a few acting gigs so I have some big stepping stones ahead of me.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model pretty frequently; right now my agent is having me practice my posing 15 minutes a day in the mirror. I have a full body mirror in my bedroom that I practice in. There isn’t much that I haven’t tried modeling. I still love high fashion but I mostly do glamour swimwear, lingerie and some nude.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The past 6 months have been my best modeling experiences. I loved working with new photographers and make up artist but I think more is yet to come. I think the best so far was when I got published In Moorish Hareem Magazine and my photo was right next to girls who have been in Maxim and Playboy. It was also nice to gain followers of my social media and being offered to work with my own agent. I look forward to what other great things I can accomplish.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

My father was a body builder and he was always big on health and nutrition. I was the kid who was eating cauliflower and carrot sticks. I work out three to 5 times a week depending on how busy my schedule is. I love playing volleyball and dancing; I took a belly dancing course and had a blast. I pretty much walk everywhere, I enjoy lifting weights and yoga. My diet is more balanced than anything, in fact I love fruits and lean meats, not too much red meat; I keep it light mostly chicken and fish.

When I really need to tone up, my sister writes my diet plan. But I do love sweets, that’s my weakness. I do fat Friday where I can eat all the donuts and sour patch kids my stomach will let me, although I do eat dark chocolate during the week. Don’t get me wrong, diet and excercise is very important. I’ve come to realize it makes modeling easier. A lot of people don’t understand that the better your skin and your body are, the more photographers and make up artist want to work with you. You don’t have to be physically perfect, but I think diet and exercise help with your mental state as well and keeps you happy and pleasant.

Charrdonnay modeling a bikini in a riverWould you change anything about yourself?

No, I wouldn’t change a thing about myself. I used to want to change everything but I’m learning to love myself and others would love me too. Everyone has low self esteem days but even on those days you have to find the light in yourself and love yourself especially in this industry, since it’s solely based on looks but people should also know you leave an impression as well.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

I rarely wear underwear, it’s a comfort thing for me. I really just go about my daily life, I’ve gone to work and school. One time I had forgotten to wear them… it was quite embarrassing especially when it’s a gown that it takes 2 people to get you into.

Joey D is a 35-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Indiana and lived with my family until 1997, when I moved to Chicago for college. I’ve lived here ever since. I enjoy working out and inspiring others to reach their health goals. I incorporate a psychological aspect to my training and advice. I believe in a holistic approach to complete health stemming from over 20 years in the gym and my MA in psychology. In my spare time I enjoy video games and reading. I run a couple websites, dance at events, and do other odd jobs to keep my life interesting.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I’ve been modeling off and on for 15 years. Not until 2014 did I start to focus on modeling. Since then, it’s been non-stop and I love it. I decided to focus on it since I was in graduate school and needed some extra income.

SONY DSCWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I’ve achieved so much in life that I’m at the point that everything is just icing on the cake. I never live to work and only believe in working to live so that I enjoy everything I do. If I’m still inspiring and helping people in some way for the rest of my life, I’ll be happy. There is no limit to the possibilities of what life can offer. I embrace every experience and look forward to each one.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I average about a shoot a month. I generally only do photo shoots focused on fitness and health modeling.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Every experience was awesome. There’s nothing I could classify as a worst experience. Since each one is different, it created a memory that will last forever.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes, I was shooting in TX and went with the photographer to pick up food after the shoot. The people at the restaurant recognized me. Then, we stopped at a drug store and the woman behind me bought my products for me for no reason other than she wanted to. It was so crazy and awesome. I was speechless.

Joey D lying on a bedDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not participate in any sports, but I eat like a bodybuilder. Bulking and cutting nutrition plans are my life. I’m constantly adjusting my food intake and tweaking things to create my body how I want it to look.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a classically trained singer. I’m actually working on getting a demo out in the future. Possibly on my YouTube channel or somewhere. I’ll keep you posted.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I regret nothing. Everything about me exists because of an experience I had. I love having lived my life and look forward to every future moment to see how it shapes my personality.

What is the longest you have gone without taking a bath?

I’ve gone 5 days without bathing. Instead of going on vacation, I stayed home and did nothing but played video games. It was amazing, but by the end I realized I really needed to shower and get out of the house. It made me appreciate human contact. haha!

Interview with Viscous Sally — Eccentrically Awesome

Viscous Sally is a 22-year old model residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am from Denison, Texas a tiny little town north of Dallas. I honestly don’t have much family that I associate with. I was brought up in cruel circumstances around crueler people but honestly it made me who I am today. I am fun, loving and quirky to say the least. I am not afraid to be me which usually includes breaking out into random songs and dances. I want to enjoy life and explore what the world has to give. I am in love with music; it honestly soothes my soul and without it I feel the world would be very bleak.

Viscous Sally holding a hula hoopWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved through a dance group I was in. It gave me the fuel to fire my passion for becoming a model. I think it is a breath of fresh air to see girls who aren’t a size 0r show that they are proud and love themselves and honestly that is my goal. To help get past the misconceptions of real beauty.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal is to be a suicide girl on Inked magazine or really any other tattoo one. I want to be a house hold name.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am fairly new to modeling so I haven’t ventured far from my comfort zone but would honestly love to. I have done mostly boudoir but would love to get into artsy or controversial photography.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience was my first group shooting for my old dance group. Getting to take photos with lovely girls all dressed up in lingerie and watching people stare confused to what we were doing there. It was awesome to get to collaborate with all the girls.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Modeling can get crazy but I would say I haven’t experienced anything too crazy for me yet.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the misconceptions on what really is beautiful. I would want to stray away from girls who are all bones being the only beauty.

Viscous Sally face closeupDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

My sport is dancing, I love to put on some Jessie J or Katie Perry and jam out. I eat pretty clean and workout regularly. I think exercise gives you a release of stress and anxiety and allows you to keep your body physically fit which is very important.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am a disney and pixar freak and a rabid hello kitty fan. I love watching Finding Nemo on repeat something about never giving up just makes my heart warm.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would say I would want to change having my guard up all the time. It would be good to learn to let the world in more.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

I would love to be a necromancer. Being able to go between the worlds of death and life and bring a soul to the light would be very cool.

Interview with Reagan Savoie — From Introvert to Extrovert Model

Reagan Savoie is a 21-year old model residing in Redding, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana, went to school in Texas, and have lived in Utah and California as well. My family are very religious, conservative-Republicans. I have a very European-based lineage which I use to fondly refer to myself as a European Mutt when anyone asks. I am usually quite creative with my spare time. Filling it with reading new Sci-Fi series, painting and drawing, baking and cooking all sorts of new recipes, creating music on any of the three instruments I can play, out exploring parks, or playing at home with my pets.

Back when I lived in Texas we had a ranch where I would ride horses during the summer and on different breaks from school. I currently hold an Associates of Science degree and I love aviation! It was actually one of my degrees for a year but the school I was at messed up my transcripts so I went for a Bachelor’s in Tech Management and an Applied Associates of Science degree instead. I’m still flying however and plan to get my necessary licenses and certifications on my own time.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was a child model from the time I was about a year and a half old with Kim Dawson and then switched to The Campbell Agency a few years later. Once I hit about 12 that died off due to the fact that I looked too old to do child modeling but was still too young to do adult modeling. I started doing some freelance work and got into photography in high school. Now I am a hobby photographer, and freelance model. I also dabble in hair, make-up, and fashion due to my first roommate in college.

Reagan Savoie wearing blue jeans at a ranchWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Personally, I want to have every license and certification to become a Certified Flight Instructor with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings -CFI/II/MEI-. I want to become a well-respected model that is known for being smart as well as pretty. Professionally, I want to be doing something I love and am accomplished at. I want to be able to wake up every day being excited about what I’m going to be doing.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Mostly my early work consisted of fashion print work. I did have a few commercials but mainly I did posters and catalogs. In later years when I first began freelance work I was mostly helping people with their degree portfolios. They consisted of some artwork and fashion as well as glamour shots. Nowadays I’m focusing on broadening my spectrum from just photo shoots. I still consider myself mainly an art, fashion and glamour model but I also work in acting and sports work as well.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I remember one time I was helping one of my mom’s friends expand her portfolio for her photography degree. She had me all dolled up in this amazing vintage wedding dress that I thought was the coolest thing ever. My hair was done up in this messy-bun look, I had some pretty heavy makeup on, and the best part? This lady got a friend of hers who bred Irish wolfhounds to bring three of them out to our ranch to make this shot absolutely fantastic! The whole thing had this old-timey deep South feel to it and I had a blast.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

One time when I was younger, I did a photo shoot for someone who wanted to show a cut family scene of a grandmother and her granddaughter eating some ice cream. I was like 7 at the time. Well the producer had mentioned ice cream and set this bowl in front of me and handed me a spoon. No one told me it wasn’t really ice cream in the bowl, so naturally I had to try it. It was actually just a mixture of butter and sugar. Not terrible, but you can imagine how disappointed I was that it wasn’t actually ice cream.

Reagan Savoie looking to the skyIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Hundreds of things, but one that I feel like is really prevalent this day and age is people -from agencies to photographers and others- taking advantage of young models who don’t have any experience or don’t know any better but will do just about anything they’re told in order to become famous. I realize that there are places that take great care to be fair with their models, but more and more I get people requesting to work with me that will tell me a shoot is for something that I’m perfectly fine with and then after I’ve spent my time getting ready, they want to change it to something erotic, unprofessional, or additional aspects that were not part of the original agreement they want for no extra charge. I have nothing against being sexy on camera or adding to a shoot, but be honest and straight with what you want to do beforehand so that the models can make informed decisions on what they are actually getting into.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I’ll admit I’m not the best role model when it comes to healthy eating habits -being from the South means that I love to eat good food-. However, I do try to maintain a healthy diet as much as possible. I love sports though. Throughout school I did soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, cross country, and track. I still get out on occasion to play a game or to go for a run. Every now and then I’ll get in a fitness craze when I feel like I’m letting myself go or eating too much and I’ll do a couple weeks of Insanity or some other type of workout routine that includes daily cardio and stretches.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am a total introvert. I have always been the shyest person in the room and even now I tend to stay in and read before going out to meet new people. But I try something new every day and I try to meet at least one new person every week. I keep on a constant smile when I’m out and about because you never know whose day you’ll brighten because of a simple smile.

Reagan Savoie next to a lakeWould you change anything about yourself?

The one and only thing I would change about myself is my scoliosis. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s when a person’s spine is curved or twisted for various reasons. Mine is because my spine is for a person much taller than I am. If my spine were completely straight I would be somewhere around 5’9″-5’10” -according to doctors- instead of the 5’6″ I’m at right now. Because of the lack of space for my spine, I have an S curve in it which makes stretching and staying flexible difficult but not impossible.

What is the one talent you wish you possessed?

I really want to learn falconry, also known as hawking. It’s where you hunt game with a trained hawk or other bird of prey of your choosing. The best way to do it is raise the bird yourself from a very young age. I think this would be the coolest thing ever because 1) It’s different, and 2) I would have my own personal bird of prey! I would probably go with an Aplomado Falcon personally. I actually have a picture with one on my Facebook page.

Interview with Jamie Lavender — “Just For Fun” Model

Jamie Lavender is a 21-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey y’all I’m Jamie Lavender! I currently reside in Los Angeles, California, but I grew up in Austin Texas. I work in real estate and modeling is something I’ve been doing as a hobby here and there for about 5 years.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Growing up, I didn’t have much interest in the modeling industry. I was more geared towards the fashion design; I’ve always been very creative. When I was 16, however, I walked into a well known, high end hair salon and the manager dropped her jaw at my leggy, thin, 5’10” tall figure and begged me to be in a runway show. It was unexpected, but I accepted and had a blast! Plus, I got a free makeover! From then on, I sought out more modeling opportunities.

Jamie Lavender face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally, I’m really enjoying what I do right now, managing luxury properties for event and vacation rentals. I guess in the next 5 years, I hope my company will be much more well known and successful.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I only model as a hobby and only half of the shoots I do are paid, so I don’t model very much. I do a photo shoot once a month or every other month. I do mostly lingerie and pinup, fine art and tasteful nude, swimwear, and casual fashion. I don’t do XXX or erotic shoots.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had modeling was an all expense paid 3 day trip to Miami for a lovely beach shoot. It was tons of fun and who doesn’t love a paid vacation!? I also got to keep both of the bikinis I wore for the shoot which were $300 each. Too cool!

The worst experience I’ve had…hmmm well I’ve had many, so I’ll sum it up with two words: unprofessional and scam! There’s a big difference between a photographer and a guy with a camera. Also, paid or non-paid, I really hate when I waste my time just to be used in some type of scheme. It’s hurtful and degrading.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I auditioned for America’s Next Top Model one year and was rejected because I’m “too big to be a regular model and too small to be a plus size model” … I was shocked. Oh well!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think photographers should have to have licenses. I think it would cut out the unprofessionalism and scams.

Jamie Lavender showing her bellyDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love hot yoga and pilates! I work out 3 to 5 times a week. I try to watch what I eat, but I’m definitely not one of those calorie counting models. I definitely indulge. Life is short!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

In 2011, I dropped everything back home in Austin Texas and moved to LA by myself on a one-way ticket with $500 and no plan at all! It was the most difficult, yet best decision I’ve ever made!

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wish I could have a flat stomach and not gain weight so easily, but I do love my curves. I get so many compliments on my round booty! And now that I’ve had a boob job, I feel extra confident and sexy!

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

Definitely the ability to fly! I’d never have to worry about LA traffic or expensive plane tickets again!

Interview with Megan McMath — US Navy Sailor turned model

Megan McMath is a 25-year old model residing in San Diego, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey ya’ll! My name is Megan and I was born and raised in Houston, TX but currently reside in San Diego, CA. When I joined the Navy I was stationed in San Diego and just fell in love so I stayed.

I’m an only child and growing up it was just my mother and I. She is my best friend and knows everything about my life. Growing up I barrel raced in rodeos and I was a cheerleader and dancer, and she was always right by my side. I’m very lucky to have such an amazing mom!

I grew up on a ranch with horses, cows, goats, chicken, an emu, and others so I’ve always been very out-doorsy. I love snowboarding, camping, riding dirt bikes -I have a CRF250R- and horses, hiking, and really anything else that’s outside. I have two dogs that I adore and I take them to dog beach to play Frisbee as frequently as I can. I’m addicted to working out and I spend 5 to 6 out of 7 days lifting weights. I am also very big into EDM festivals, and go to every one that I can. I make my own outfits and go all out so that’s a big thing for me.

I have my Associates in Marketing and my Bachelors in Interior Design. I had a very demanding Design job, but was under paid so I quit. Now I am concentrating on modeling until I find another Design job that fits my expectations.

Megan McMath wearing a black stripped dressWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My mom put me into gymnastics and dance when I was three years old, and when I did my first dance recital I knew the spotlight was home. As I grew older I would buy disposable cameras from Walmart with my friends and we would do full on photoshoots with make up and fun wardrobes. My mom took me to Mayo-Hill which was a popular agency in Houston to try out, and I made it. I did a small shoot for GAP back in 1997, but had to quit for a while because school and dance just got too demanding. I started back up in 2007 when I started going to the Playboy mansion.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goals are to hopefully get my face out there. I want to be published in a magazine or billboard or something along those lines.

In 5 to 10 years I hope to be a mother of two.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I do photo-shoots twice or three times a month. I love to be in front of the camera so pretty much as frequently as I can. I shoot everything and anything except for nude or fetish.

Megan McMath posing next to a treePlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best was with a photographer named Jay Waren. Our pictures came out perfect! We were out shooting at 5-7am right when the sun was coming up so the lighting was perfect. We had great chemistry.

The worst was with a photographer I will not name. We had shot together 7 times so we had a real good professional relationship. He pressured me into doing a nude shoot that I really didn’t want to do but I did because he just wouldn’t stop. He gave me his word that he would not post them on line because I didn’t want to portray that kind of message. I trusted him. That next day I found all of my nude pictures everywhere on the internet. I was mortified! He refused to take them down. I had to hire a lawyer to get him to take them down.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I eat healthy and typically only organic food. I have a weakness for brownies and foyo though so that is my main cheat food.

As I said earlier I am in the gym weightlifting 5 to 6 out of 7 days a week so fitness is very important to me. I love to hike, and I am on a hip hop dance team named Culture Shock. That is my main cardio since we meet 3 nights a week.

I want to live a long healthy life so I only put clean food into my body. My father died from diabetes, so being healthy is very important to me.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I am extremely hard on myself. I am never happy with how I look.

What is the one talent you wish you possessed?

I wish I could sing. I am always singing anyways at the top of my lungs, but it sounds like a dying cat.

Interview with Hailee Alexis Hussion

Hailee Alexis Hussion is a 19-year old model residing in San Diego, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Other than modeling, I have always had a huge personality a loud unique voice. Originally I’m from Plano, Texas but my family moved to California when I was 3 so I am San Diego raised. I was a theater nerd til high school and I also danced 20+ hours a week. I was on my high school’s dance team and we won first place at USA Nationals in the Lyrical and Contemporary Category for 2011 and 2012. Last year was my first year of college where I danced on the side lines of the Mountain West Champions, the Fresno State Bulldogs.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have been modeling off and on since 5th grade. My little brother acted and modeled all the time, got tons of attention and as a 5th grader, I wanted that same attention. My mom took me to meet with some agents but I was too tall to model for little kid stuff and too young looking to model for teens. But I still signed with a San Diego agent and did a few things here and there. It wasn’t til my freshman year of high school, when I had matured that scouts started stopping me everywhere. I had signed with the first management company that wanted me. Big mistake, they wanted all kinds of money for shoots and fees. I didn’t know any better. After getting out of my contract with them, I signed with a SD agency, OC agency and LA agency and they are the real deals. All though it’s not the big leagues yet, I have booked many big time jobs. I know with time, experience and relationships under my belt, my time will come to be bigger than I am today.

Hailee Alexis Hussion wearing a zebra swimsuit and a handbagWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I plan on finishing college in LA, where the industry and work is. My personal goals, are to marry my high school sweetheart. He is leaving for the Marines soon and I know it will be hard but he’s worth it. I also want to be successful, the American Dream. Everyone’s definition is different, but I want to make my family happy, and prove to all the people that thought I wasn’t good enough, that I am. I want to be financially successful and I want a beautiful family, that travels at least once a year for vacations.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model at least once a week. With work, dance, school, my boyfriend and my family. I haven’t had the opportunity or the balls to jump into modeling full force. I like to do it all, although I’ve never done nudes. I have walked in LA Fashion Week and many other fashion shows, I have a few editorial spreads published. I have also done plenty of catalogue shoots. Stock photographers love me because I have a very commercial look. I have done some commercials and sports shoots too and like I’ve said before I used to be a huge theater nerd and dancer.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I always think nip slips are so embarrassing!! Like we are trying to be high fashion and risqué but then you’re posing and 30 seconds later you realize you are showing more than you thought and at that point the photographer has stopped taking pictures to let you realize that you’re giving everyone around the shoot a bigger show than they signed up for! Normally I brush it off but every once in a while I turn bright red in the face and can’t help but be embarrassed!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change how big and unprofessional it’s become. With technology today everyone thinks they can be a photographer, and with a website like model mayhem everyone thinks they have what it takes to model. But modeling and fashion is a lot more than the small world of model mayhem nudes and skimpy car photo shoots. To put it harshly, If the only jobs you book are through model mayhem, even if it’s a lot, I don’t consider that professional modeling. Because of technology nowadays, photographers don’t pay for the professional models, they pay for the ones who will work for cheap.

Hailee Alexis Hussion wearing sneakers and miniskirtDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I eat everything I see, but I also was blessed with a very fast metabolism and I dance way too many hours a week. In my first year of college I have definitely come to realize that eating healthy is more important and eating all the junk will in fact catch up to you.

Would you change anything about yourself?

As many times as someone may say “I would never change anything about me”. I know first-hand that you can’t please everyone with your looks, there’s always going to be someone with tanner skin, skinnier legs, bluer eyes, more defined cheek bones and better eyebrows, but me? I’m all natural. Some things you can change and some things aren’t worth changing. The blonde isn’t bleached, the skin isn’t tanned and the eyes are light green. I have pale skin and I freckle like a red head does, and clients often tell me I would be a better red head than a California blonde but in this industry being different helps you stand out. Some people will love that and some will hate it. Just be the you that makes you the happiest!

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

I would call everyone who’s had an impact on my life, to tell them I loved them. I would donate my money to my favorite program for kids with autism, I would kiss my boyfriend for hours and have a picnic on the beach with my family. I would write down my favorite memories with my favorite people so they all had something to remember me by. I would laugh, love, probably cry a little and thank god for the life he let me live.

Interview with Karina Alexandra — Full-time Artist

Karina Alexandra is a 22-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Daydreamer by day, visionary by night! I was born in Laredo, Tx and I am now living out my dreams in Burbank, Ca. I’ve been living in the city known as “The Media Center” for about 6 years now. So, Cali feels like home now. My mother is the hardest working person I know and I can only aspire to be as Independent and successful as her. It’s cute to grow up having your family call you by nickname “La Artista” which means the Artist in Spanish. I have a passion for dance and I feel I get that from my grandma and my dad. I have one sibling, a brother, who I want to inspire to follow his dreams and never give up. He’s taught me how to get creative in the kitchen. He’s a good cook and makes a mean salsa! My hobbies include but are not limited to…exploring the world! Oh and making magic happen along the way. That’s important.

Karina Alexandra wearing a black swimsuitWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

To be quite honest it happened to me while I was going through some growing pains in my life… I sat at a bar, when I was 21, in San Antonio, Tx by myself, and this guy sitting next to me asked me if I was interested in being a Model for Enterprise. Then, that’s when I decided to apply. If you ask me why? Why not?! I had fun, I felt like it fit my personality and I was learning about where I really wanted to go in life, career wise.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years I see myself in Movies. I have a lot of energy and I want to share it with the world. Action, Adventure, Suspense, films are my top picks for a role I ‘d like to be cast in. My goal is to be the lead character in a film and do my own stunts. I like to train hard and challenge my body to do things, I may have thought to be impossible.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

At this time, I am representing Miss Burbank for the Miss Manhattan Beach Contest and filming for a TV show called America’s It Girl. It’s the first season for We TV which should air sometime in the fall. The show consists of 6 episodes in L.A. And 6 in N.Y. Think of it as a Project Runway meets America’s Next Top Model. The judges are judging the contestants based on a lot of things including creativity and even designing our own dress. This is what’s keeping me busy at the moment but I mostly do fashion, swimwear, music vids, photo shoots, commercials, and acting. I love the Glamour of it all, it makes me fall in love with my job.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Some agencies take a month to pay you. Omg it’s the worst! That can be scary at times when you’re starting off and you don’t watch your spending!. The best is when you get to travel, all expenses paid, free swag and you get paid right on time without having to hunt anyone down. That’s fabulous! It’s not about the money, it’s more about the quality of living. It’s nice to feel appreciated for your hard work. Being a model takes discipline, patience and a lot of dedication because the modeling world is highly competitive. In the end, it’s all worth the sweat you put into it.

Karina Alexandra face closeupHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes! I worked at a Concert once and Crystal Waters was performing, I grew up loving her single 100% Pure Love and one of the promoters asked if I wanted to go backstage and take another model with me. When he showed us, to go through a curtain, we were on the main stage dancing with 1,000’s of people and the audience watching. That night was unexpected and therefore Epic!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Sometimes, I see girls who are so thin, extra smalls are too big and these girls are being looked up to by a lot of teenagers. That kinda worries me because society is feeding our next generations with unrealistic expectations of what “healthy” looks like, I am not down with thinspiration, that’s just unhealthy. I am going to inspire young girls to think strong is beautiful. Oh and one more thing, I hate the thought of the camera adding ten pounds! Let’s reverse that and make new cameras!. I think super skinny girls might get scared of being too thin then… In my dreams though! We’ll see, maybe I’ll be first to invent that type of camera. Hehe.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love bicycling, rollerblading and breakdancing. I notice I am so much happier when I exercise and that’s why it’s so important to me. I’ve done XMA which stands for extreme Martial Arts. XMA World headquarters was one of the first places I worked at when I moved to North Hollywood because I had a background in Personal Training. I learned that when you eat healthy, you have more energy and can avoid certain diseases. It’s true your teeth hurt, when you give up a high sugar diet, and then bite into a candy. Ouch!!! We are not immortal, therefore, I’d like to take care of what God gave me to work with, even if it means sacrificing a few jelly beans here and there. I just started rollerblading to work too, let’s see how long that I will last. I don’t know yet but I’m challenging myself and you should too!

Karina Alexandra wearing black mesh pantiesPlease share something people don’t know about you.

Before I moved to L.A. to pursue my modeling and acting, I was studying to be a DJ in College.

Would you change anything about yourself?

No, then I’d have nothing to complain about! On a real note, I accept myself with all my flaws and all my sexy qualities. Love yourself for who you are not for what others expect you to look like. A beautiful spirit is much more valuable to me and we reflect that by how well we nurture it. People always have their own opinions about what hair color looks best on me, that’s nice, but I wear the one that makes me feel good. If it makes you feel good, wear it, and rock it! No matter what the color of the spectrum.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Find a new restaurant I’ve never been to go on yelp and go to one with the best reviews, by myself, to test it out. That way, I can be the first to introduce it to my friends and family. If it’s truly awesome…and I love the food and drinks, I try to re-create them at home. That, and Yoga, to help me eat all I want.
