Interview with Trisha Kay — Gypsy model with versatility and passion

Trisha Kay is a 21-year old model residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Well hello there! I’m a 21 year old german and irish firecracker born in the small rural town of Ionia in the beautiful Michigan. I have lived in places all over Michigan like Grand Rapids, Detroit, Charlevoix, along with smaller cities in the state. I recently decided to pack up, throw my heart on my sleeve, get in my car, and move to Orange County, California to embrace new adventures out of the element I’ve known thus far! So far, sooo so good.

Some of my past occupations are bookstore clerk for the college I attended, which was Grand Rapids Community College who also advertised me on public transit buses, pandora, books, fliers and website; pizza girl and ninja, personal trainer, cutlery sales, Victoria Secret, go go dancing, and make-up art every so often. My personal time is spent painting, exercising, practicing my own photography, catching up with family, pampering, cooking nutritiously tasty meals, listening to music, and getting into shenanigans. I’m always traveling, the world is so big and beautiful…

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Throughout my teens I very slowly rolled into modeling and had people approach me at events to do promotional work, photographers reaching out online, companies hiring me to model for ad campaigns, and more. I never thought I could actually be a “model” with my shapeliness and height but when I started to get paid after some portfolio building, I gained confidence and it has only been getting better for me since. It inspired me in many ways to explore makeup art, hair style, travel, my own physique, and the artistic aspects of it all. I signed with a few non exclusive talent agencies and modeled internationally before age 20.

Trisha Kay modeling light blue bikiniWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years, I would love to do something similar to what I do now: living my life filled with creativity, travel, amazing people, exotic animals, adventure, and self growth. I will most likely be working partially as a photographer, maybe some acting,

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I’ve done all sorts of modeling: multiple conventions, being the only model in a workshop full of photographers, pageants, Playboy published, bridal shows, fashion shows, catalog, commercial, swimsuit; I’m open to a lot, including freelance. I like booking photoshoots with hourly rates depending on content, talent, resources, attitude, travel logistics but a lot of my favorite gigs are booked through agents and scouts who make sure I get paid well, feel comfortable, and such a variety of work to choose from! Would you like to smile, pass out snacks, and meet some very great connections while getting paid and having fun on this day in this place? Why yes! I would.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experiences I’ve had in modeling were always surprises; seeing your face on the cover of a magazine at most major stores for a shoot that paid well and you had no idea would be sold on stands internationally is a very powerful and humbling experience. All the traveling I’ve done, free products I get comped, artistic expression I exude whenever I want, fun experiences I endure, and interesting, talented, amazing people I’ve met through this industry have highlighted the career immensely. The worst experience I’ve had is when I almost got taken in France while traveling on my own via train to shoots, I totally felt like I was in the movie! Much scarier in real life, plus creepy photographers or the ones that don’t give images in an appropriate time frame or fail to communicate well post shoot.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Some of the requests I get are pretty ridiculous, I won’t get into all the strange experiences but there was a point going through emails where I’m like, “how is pretending to kick a guy in the nuts and talking about it on film considered “modeling?” Lol. No thanks.

Trisha Kay modeling at swimsuit USAIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

People can be so judgmental. I don’t enjoy telling people that I model because they instantly make assumptions, pick at imperfections, or label me any one of various things. I love the job because I love the process of creation with emotions and design but there are a lot of inappropriate photographers, scams, and dangerous traveling situations you have to look out for as predators are very real, so always check references if you model. As far as everything else, I like seeing all sorts of modeling: big, tall, small, tatts, so I would create more awesomely uniquely beautiful independent genres of modeling besides the mainstream 5’9 and sunken in expectation fashion tends to demand.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love exercise as much as I love chocolate and workout most days of the week with a cardio mixup of running, stair climbing, or biking, strength training, and stretching. Love throwing the fun stuff in along the way like yoga, which feels so good; boxing, swimming, basketball, golfing, volleyball, dancing, hiking, and skiing in between. I’ve been a vegetarian for the last three months so I find my protein in stuff like greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and protein bars. My diet is also filled with health conscious smoothies, green tea, peanut butter, whole grains, spicy meals, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and I’m usually up for trying anything with nutritional value. I definitely like to let myself indulge every once in a while, specially with gnocchi, pizza, fruit snacks… life’s too short, enjoy it!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I enjoy helping building homes for Habitat for Humanity, interacting closely with very dangerous animals, and I’m told I giggle in my sleep.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Physically, I’ve come to accept and love this meat bag I live in, so, I’m fine with what I’m venturing this earth in -most days”-. Besides that I think it would be so cool to be ridiculously hilarious because I love seeing people laugh and smile.

What is the longest you have gone without taking a bath?

To be honest, I take a bath at least once a day, and I hate showering. I’m always soaking in pretty scented aromatherapy while deep conditioning my hair and using my home made natural face masks thinking of the most random things while listening to my favorite tunes in my waterproof speaker. It’s my daily zen… so relaxing and enlightening to my spirit.

Interview with Mary Casarreal — Cuban Model, Science and language Lover

Mary Casarreal is a 25-year old model residing in Lansing, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba and my roots define much of my identity but I’m a straight forward yet complex individual. My heart resides within the rhythm of the caribbean sea on the west side of the island, while love and Respect rule my character. I moved to the United States with my family, graduated from High School in Michigan, and recently graduated College from The University of Michigan with a major in Bio Cognitive Neuroscience, and another degree in French and Francophone Studies. I speak Spanish, English and French fluently and my wanderlust and love for all people consumes me.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My first modeling job was at the age of 15, when I did a lifestyle catalog shoot here in Michigan. I remember the photographer was Quinn and it was a wonderful experience, as it was an extremely sunny day in a small town in Michigan. As we drove, there were fields of corn and sunflowers on a dirt road leading up to the photographer’s home. It was mid August and my dad came along to spend the day with me, we had our windows down driving there in late morning and the breeze was incredible. It was absolutely beautiful.

Mary Casarreal wearing a green sweaterWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

This year I wish to focus on my career as a model and actress more so than anything else. I am studying for some exams for my graduate career but I would like to shoot Swimwear and travel more than anything else this year. I will also be incorporating myself into the Spanish market more so, send some good luck my way.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I’ve been traveling non stop as a spokesmodel for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles since January which consists of working for one of the brands and answering any questions about the products with a smile, love for the position and enthusiasm. So far Philly, Detroit, Chicago and Charlotte have been good to me! Next stops are Atlanta, Ohio and NY!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best experience was touring the caribbean with Hot Tropix shooting a calendar on a two week trip to over 7 islands, that was me in my natural habitat. I also toured the caribbean with a luxury swimsuit brand called Komplique and that experience changed me as a person and my outlook on life. The worst would probably be a super creepy photographer I shot with once who insisted if we ever had to travel I needed to sleep in the same bed as him because other models thought it was normal… never normal ladies.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve never done anything nude, but I was body painted for Comic-Con as Wonder Woman, which was amazing as I felt clothed and looked clothed although I wasn’t… it was awesome. You can google my name and body paint and it should come up, it was great.

Mary Casarreal showing her long hairIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The industry needs to be actually accepting of curvy, large and foreign and not have the token colored, heavy and authentic looking girl in every campaign. Also more opportunity for minorities.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Nutritional plan is on my Instagram and so are my workouts but I don’t eat canned foods, don’t drink pop or sodas, I drink seldomly, I swear it… I lift weights and enjoy my yoga. P90X every other day especially the plyometrics CD and fresh squeezed veggie and fruit juices in the morning. I make things as fresh as possible, no yellow #5 in my food please!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I think everyone needs to read Radical Forgiveness, Many Lives Many Masters, & 5 Love Languages. Also, I love seafood.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would be able to turn haters into chocolate and then eat them.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Homemade Chicken Stew, fluffy fuzzy socks, soft pajamas and a mouthwatering dessert with too much chocolate, snuggled up with my puppy and the people I love the most with no deadlines and no worries in that moment in time. Besides that guilty pleasure give me a bikini, a beach and some fresh seafood and I’m trapped.

Interview with Chelsie Raleigh — A little bit about me!

Chelsie Raleigh is an 18-year old model residing in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Chelsie Raleigh and I am eighteen-years-old, born and raised in Massachusetts, currenty living with my parents and my sixteen-year-old sister Kayla. I work at a local company, My Princess Dream Party, and dress and act as a princess at events and children’s birthday parties. I am also a full-time student at Western New England University pursuing a degree in civil engineering. I love playing the piano, modeling, going to the beach, and spending time with my family!

Chelsie Raleigh showing her long hairWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first began modeling when I was twelve, after a friend of my mom forwarded my photo to a company in New York. I was then contacted to do a test shoot, and when my photos from the test shoot were released, I was asked by other companies to appear on advertisement brochures for their businesses. As my photo spread more and more, more
opportunities came to me, and I soon signed non-exclusively with an agency in Boston and in New York. I have ever since fell in love with modeling.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal is to complete college and obtain my PE license to further my career in civil engineering. I also hope to continue to expand my modeling career, and basically to try my best to be successful and follow my dreams!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Modeling often comes in spurts, since I find myself some weeks to have a job four times a week and others to have only one. I mainly do print work, but have also walked in several fashion shows for designer companies, as well as appeared on many promotional advertisement cards, been on the cover of magazines, been featured inside many magazines on multiple pages and spreads, and have been on the cover of multiple children’s game boxes. I have also been featured on billboards hovering over highways. I range from high fashion to fitness and all the way to swimsuit.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Almost every experience I have had in modeling has been amazing. One of my most favorite things about modeling is that my sister Kayla does it with me, since many times we are modeling together, which only makes the experience more enjoyable, because I get to share it with my best friend. We always encourage each other to try our best, and help each other with anything; having your best friend by your side in an experience like this is incredible.

Chelsie Raleigh lying on a wallHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was once modeling for a magazine in Times Square, and was dressed in all high fashion apparel with many cameras and guards around me. With my hair blowing wildly through the wind, it made for quite a scene, and during the middle of the shoot, in the dead center of the over-crowded times square, the naked cowboy approached us and began singing “I need you” and other funny tunes. The gentlemen with the “Free Hugs” sign also came over to us. Needless to say, I soon had a large crowd around me, including some times square entertainers who made the experience unforgettable.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I had to change something about the modeling industry, I would change the height requirements. Being not too tall myself, I find it difficult to book certain jobs; some of the most beautiful faces in the modeling industry come from those not reaching the height requirements.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Ever since I was two I have been involved in competitive gymnastics, and currently attend group exercise classes at the fitness club I belong to about two to three times a week. I eat typically healthy, but am not afraid to have sweets every now and then, although if I am craving it, I am most likely going to satisfy that. Nutrition and exercise is important in my life because I feel it’s the key to a healthy lifestyle.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Many people don’t know my love for music. I am self-taught on the piano and play whenever I get the chance.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wouldn’t change anything about myself. I believe one of the most beautiful qualities is loving yourself.

What features do you look for in a partner?

When looking for a partner, I look for honesty, kindness, trust, respect, reliability, and overall lovable qualities. I feel if you love someone for who they are, looks should be the last quality to make an influence.

Interview with Dahlia Thomas — Geek Girl Gone Model

Dahlia Thomas is a 23-year old model residing in Alachua, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Jupiter, not the planet, Florida. I grew up with my older brother and father, basically raised by guys. My father ran his own business before he passed when I was 18. Since I could possibly remember I would sit on my father’s lap hitting the space bar to shoot while he played Doom, try and make him strategize in Mech Warrior, and cuddle with him while we played Golden Eye on the N64. I’m into Photography, horseback riding, building costumes, cosplay, and being a plain old introvert at home with a cup of Earl Gray.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I went to a convention for the first time ever, I made a costume of Morrigan from Dragon Age Origins, Bioware, the game company, found my photos and posted them.
I gained a bunch of friend requests on FB, but I wanted to have a place for those strangers to go to, instead of my newsfeed. I made a like page, 500 likes in one night, all of those people were supportive and kind. My fans pushed me to take more pics, do bigger builds, push myself farther, shoot with better photographers. 14K+ likes in -2 years later, I’m still doing it.

Dahlia Thomas sucking blood from her handsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goals are trying to take this professional hobby to wherever it’ll take me. I’ve been given some good opportunities, but I need to see some more growth in my other forms of social media. I don’t know what the next ten years will bring me, but I hope it’s success. I’d like to be somewhere on the West coast, traveling to conventions, and hopefully being an inspiration to those with a nerdy outlet.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Every other weekend I’m on a back drop, the weekends in-between those, I’m at conventions, or the weekdays and weekends between I’m at my day job or in my office room building costumes, updating my store, editing for YouTube on my programs, updating Social Media, or writing fans back and emailing people.

I model, run my own print shop on StoreEnvy, vlog, and run ragged. I mainly shoot cosplay, but I’ve dipped my finger into swimsuit, fashion, and some dark beauty ethereal images. I’m a big fan of photos that make you think a bit, the dark fantasy style is something I fancy.

Cosplay modeling isn’t easy, it’s more of an action modeling. You’re that character, you’re creating a still in a scene, you’re the actor, and you have to convey a story in just one to five stills. It’s jumping, crying, screaming, kicking, biting, growling, blood slinging, saber dueling, and all around a challenge. I come out of shoots looking like I retook my SAT’s, I’m usually that tired and my whole body aches. I really try and give it my all, and have a good time along the way.

Dahlia Thomas wearing a pink skirt in the woodsPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best experiences in modeling are seeing the finished product, and being behind the scene to see what al goes into it. I also like imagining what the image is going to look like and the whole collaboration with the photographer.

Worst experiences are having to deal with bookings that are from sketchy people, which is why I don’t do my bookings via Model Mayhem anymore. I have had some terrible experiences doing that.

Another experience is giving it your all for a photographer, doing your part as a model, and the person behind the camera can’t meet you half way in terms of quality. This is another reason why I luck out. Models usually want to have a well rounded portfolio and would like to shoot with many photographers. In cosplay, that aspect doesn’t matter. I can get away with shooting with a set amount, if I like. I’ve noticed a drastic improvement in my modeling and cosplay work since deciding to do that. I work well with my trusted friends, therefore I know my images will be done right.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Oh well of course! However, writing that out wouldn’t be professional, now would it?

A photographer that I mainly work with named David Love once had his dress form all dressed in clothing with a scary mask in the bathroom to scare me and a few of my modeling friends while at a group shoot, that’s a harmless one, but it was still funny.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I’m not really in the modeling industry, but I’ve heard some crazy stories from the friends that I know who are in it. I would change the cattyness of it, can’t we all just get along?

Dahlia Thomas dressed like a jokerDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I ride horses, jog 2 to 3 times a week, and work out with weights, lunges, planks -which is my standard work out- and others, 2 times a week.

I’m an introvert, so when I get mad I clam up and stay mad, I’m trying to make myself go out and be more active when I’m angry to avoid depression. I also have a corgi that’s very active and she keeps me outside and moving a lot more than I would like. Haha!

I eat clean, fruits, veggies, turkey, chicken, steaks once in a while, and not to over do it with bread. I’m lucky enough to have a fast metabolism, but I still don’t want to take advantage. I do take into account that at conventions, healthy food isn’t an option for me, so cheating is okay once in a while.

If you’re going to model, you need to take care of your body, that’s your line of work, that is your job.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I have an obsession with hedgehogs, dragons, and corgis. I do not like glow sticks, one burst in my face and got in my eyes.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’m me, I like myself, and I don’t see what’s wrong with me. These are the cards I’ve been dealt with, and I’m going to play the game.

There’s no need to dwell on something I don’t like about myself, what’s the point? I don’t condone negativity by me, for me on a physical level.

I already nit pick at my craftsmanship on my costumes, if I picked on my physical form that makes me who I am, what’s the point of that when I want to love who I am?

What is the sickest thing you have ever done?

I blew my nose, took NyQuil, used up a whole bottle of Zicam, finished a box of tissues, had a head ache, managed to sleep half the whole day, I only consumed soup for the rest of the 48 hours of me being consumed by a fever.

Interview with Brittany Alexander — The Brunette CountryGirl Barbie “Model”

Brittany Alexander is a 20-year old model residing in Ocala, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey there everyone! My name’s Brittany but everyone calls me Britt for short. I’m a country girl at heart born and raised in the sunshine state of Florida! I live in a town called Ocala but I was born in Orlando. I am the youngest of two which makes me 20 years old. I have an older sister who is 23 and an older brother who is 27. I love anything outdoors including camping, kayaking, hiking, and my all time favorite the beach! It seems to be my home away from home. I also enjoy spending time with my family or just staying inside watching one of my favorite horror films. I’m a very friendly, outgoing, sweet girl that loves to meet new people!

Brittany Alexander wearing boots and jeans at the countrysideWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always enjoyed getting in front of the camera. Between dressing up and striking poses I just seemed to love it all! When I started middle school a lot of my friends and family would always tell me I should try to get in the modeling industry. Once I reached high school I figured I’d give it a shot. At 16 years old I attended a modeling and acting school in Orlando, FL. It taught me so much from posing, to runway walk, to so much more. I started making accounts on different modeling sites to gain exposure. I then got with a modeling scout in Orlando which gained me even more exposure. From then on out I get modeling jobs with photographers every once in a while and it really builds up my portfolio up. I currently am not signed with any agency due to my height. It is extremely hard to get into the modeling business but I will never give up on what I love!

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Some of my personal goals would be to marry my soulmate, have two children preferably a boy and a girl, live in the beautiful country side of North Carolina while having an amazing career. Five or ten years from now I see myself hopefully further in the modeling industry, being able to travel the world and overall just living a happy lifestyle!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Overall I have been modeling for about four years now. I have never done any runway shows or video and acting yet. I have done a lot of photo shoots throughout the years including: bathing suit, fashion, non-nude lingerie, car shoots, sports, casual and glamour.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

All the experiences I’ve had so far with modeling have been great! I have never came across any bad experience… yet! I always make sure to have rules before going to a shoot, that’s why I know I’ll always be safe and what not. It’s always good to be extra safe than not safe at all.

Brittany Alexander coming out of a poolHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I always make sure I have fun at my photo shoots, that way I don’t seem so uncomfortable. So far nothing embarrassing has happened to me. Lots of photographers I work with have a positive attitude which makes it more fun as well which is always a plus!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

As much as I love the modeling industry there is one big thing in my opinion that I would change which it being the height requirements. Lots of agencies will only take girls who are 5’9” and above. I just think that should be changed because every woman is beautiful in their own way no matter if they are tall or short. If they have what it takes to become a model for an agency I just don’t think it should be based on height. I am 5’4” and it is so hard for me to find a legit agency due to this rule.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I have always been a petite girl ever since I was little. I used to have such a bad time gaining weight. I would stay at the same weight for years. Now that I have gotten older I am gaining some weight, which makes me 100 lbs. I don’t workout much but if I do decide to, I make sure to get my sit-ups in for the day and a good mile run. As in nutrition I make sure to eat lots of vegetables and I also make sure to take a vitamin each day.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would definitely never change anything about myself. God made me the person I am today for a reason. I am who I am and I love the woman I have become.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

One thing I love to do alone is kick back and listen to some good country music! It really does sooth my mind and it relaxes me so much!

Interview with Kelly Wykstra — Maxim model

Kelly Wykstra is a 21-year old model residing in Fort Collins, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in the small town of Steamboat Springs, CO. I am the youngest of four kids but my cousins are all basically like siblings to me. My cousin and best friend PFC Jacob Wykstra died in Afghanistan earning the bronze star among other awards. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, sketching, and traveling.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved when I was nine and got published in Patagonia, I was hooked from then on.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five years I see myself being hopefully published with Sports illustrated swimsuit edition and getting cover spreads in Maxim. In ten years I want to travel the world.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I mostly do print work involving swimsuit and lingerie as well as some high fashion shoots. I model typically once a week.

Kelly Wykstra posing in front of a wallPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I think the best experience was the first email from Maxim. It was so exciting to get that recognition. The worst experience was when I did a casting call in LA that lasted 18 Hours a day for three days! Those are the tests that show how much you really want it.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I mean, I am clumsy… I have something else happen to me every shoot! There was one shoot where I was working with a photographer in Arizona and doing a shoot with only one ace bandage covering my body. We ended up doing the shoot in the Middle of the U of A campus. It was mortifying when my ex boy-friend came up to say hello!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I don’t think so. It’s a cut throat business and it’s a harsh business, but that’s part of what makes it so attractive to me. I love modeling and the competitiveness just pushes me to be the best I can.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I go on a two mile run with my dogs everyday and go to the gym for an hour a day. As far as nutrition goes, I’m pretty lucky. I eat more than most girls probably do, and sugar is my kryptonite. I try to eat a balanced meal the best I can but I am in college so sometimes I go back to the ramen diet!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I can cross one eye at a time and love wearing onsies at home!

Would you change anything about yourself?

As ironic as this sounds, I would change my self esteem. I have always been a little shy and never had much confidence. Most of the time modeling is networking, I have most out on a lot of opportunities because I was too scared to say I wanted it.

What is the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?

One christmas I went home to a boyfriend’s house with him, his parents had us in separate rooms all week. So one night I snuck out of dinner early complaining of a stomach ache. Instead I tied myself to his bed with ribbon as a little christmas surprise!

Interview with Cami Annette — Model, Writer, and Web Designer

Cami Annette is a 25-year old model residing in San Francisco, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Howdy, folks! I am a professional netizen by day and a fitness and lifestyle model by…well…also by day! Born in Oakland, California, I am the youngest of three girls. I get my height -5’10- from both parents: my mom is 6’1 and my dad is 6’3!.

I can usually be found walking my two dogs, Boise and Paco. Hiking and HIIT, which stands for high-intensity interval training, are my favorite forms of exercise and how I spend most of my free time.

Cami Annette modeling a white bikiniWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I’m a noob to the modeling world, having just started in September 2014. I’ve done shoots for friends over the years, but only recently decided to pursue modeling professionally. So far everyone I’ve met and worked with has been amazing; I feel so blessed to have had the opportunities I’ve had so far and really look forward to what the future has in store.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In addition to appearing in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition, I would love to publish a book. I also want to return to school and earn a second Bachelor’s in computer science.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I’ve been shooting a couple times a week since early October. I mainly do photoshoots, but have a video shoot coming up in the next couple weeks. The last photoshoot I did was for HP Computers, which was shot by the fabulous Doug Adesko.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Eek. Once I had a photographer pull out his “friend” while we were reviewing my photos on his computer. Needless to say, I never shot with him again.

Cami Annette wearing a bridal dressDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I am a regular yogi and practice about twice a week. My favorite type of yoga is “power” or Ashtanga yoga. I also do HIIT in the form of an abs class at my gym twice a week. Finally, I walk at least 6 miles a day with my dogs and try and hike three times a week.

Nutritionally, however, I am all over the place. I try and eat a hearty piece of meat, either steak or a pork chop, three days a week. I hydrate regularly with fresh water as well as C2O coconut water. Otherwise, I don’t really eat anything on a consistent basis and often let my body guide me toward certain foods.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I once gave bone marrow in college. SO painful, but SO worth saving a life.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Yes! I would stop thinking so much. Physically, I’d probably correct the scar that appears next to my right nostril. I was bitten by a dog about three years ago and the scar remains.

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

In my backyard. I was training my puppy to use the potty outside and figured I’d show her how it was done! She’s fully housetrained now thanks to me, ha!

Interview with Monique Giselle — Petite Model and Actress with BIG dreams

Monique Giselle is a 20-year old model residing in Claremont, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name Is Monique Giselle I’m 20 years old, I was born in a small town in southern California, Claremont, California. When I graduated High School in 2012 I had high hopes to Attend FIDM, a fashion school in Los Angeles but could not afford tuition so I decided to work part-time jobs to save up to be able to attend. I was going through a lot after graduating and did not feel motivated to do much at all. I was working here and there but nothing in my life was together. I had no idea where my future was going. After a year of doing practically nothing, I gained the courage to begin modeling which was always a big dream of mine, I was working at a very busy Starbucks in LA and began modeling for small companies before and after work. I then became very serious about modeling and was so passionate about my work I was able to make enough money to quit my job at starbucks and travel freely for modeling. Now I am modeling and acting full time and wouldn’t change that for the world! In my free time I enjoy hiking, beach trips and surrounding myself with people that fully support me in everything I do!

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I got involved in the modeling industry about two years ago. I believe that there is no answer to how to get into modeling, It’s a constant question I’ve been asked many times! But the truth is, if your mind and heart are in it fully, you will find a way to make your dreams come true! Just talking to strangers or people who know about the industry see your passion and drive and willingly want to help you.

Why I got involved with modeling: Well I feel that it’s almost every little girl’s dream when they are young to be a famous model, actress or singer but life carries you away from that dream, people are so accustomed to you go to school, then you go to college and then you get a good job and live comfortably and if you do something different then that’s wrong. But that drive for this industry never really left my heart, my whole entire life this is what I’ve wanted to do and I did have my struggles where I lost sight of that but never has it truly gone away.

Monique Giselle with Golden Gate in the backgroundWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I have many goals that will all take a lot of time and money but in the future I hope to have a Private label clothing company called Moniquegiselle and focus on Women, teens and childrens apparel, I hope to own a petite modeling agency and open up the industry to that because small girls are beautiful too, I hope to make the cover of a magazine, I hope to land a lead role in a movie, and be casted for a TV show and then begin writing songs, films and web series. I hope to do a bit of everything in the industry and show my talents and diversity. And I hope to travel the world and see everything and gather inspiration from other cultures. In 5 to ten years, I hope to be walking the red carpet accepting an Emmy!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I’m modeling now about 3 times a week, more or less. I also do acting which keeps me really busy as well. The hours are long and you could have a 3 hour day but most likely you’ll have a 15 hour day.

With modeling, I feel it’s important to show diversity and show that you are comfortable and confident with yourself. I’ve done pretty much every category of modeling from swim, to implied to runway to website catalogues for clothing companies!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve had so many. As a Traveling Freelance model I’ve worked with so many people and all of them have a different story. One of my best and worst experiences in modeling was being up in The bay area. I was booked for a photo shoot with a photographer that was very creative and always had the best photos, but you had to do something crazy in order to get those shots. So I knew it was going to be a long day. At the time he was working on what he called “The Fruit Project” so He came back from the store with strawberries and jam galore! I was laying on the White cyclorama completely nude being covered in strawberries, on my face, in my hair and down my entire body until everything was covered! and I also had on in my mouth so I couldn’t talk the entire shoot because I couldn’t move or everything would fall off. The AC was also on high in the studio so after about 30 minutes I was also shaking from the cold but we continued for another hour just to get the shot! After we were done I was freezing and a mess and not sure how the pictures were going to turn out but when they were sent over it was so worth everything we did to get those shots! That’s one shoot I’ll never forget!

Monique Giselle wearing a swimsuitHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Many! working with so many photographers you constantly get something new everytime you shoot! From constantly being hit -on from people who are unprofessional and don’t know the industry to climbing down steep unsteady rocks to get a cool shot by the ocean! I think the hardest thing is working in freezing cold weather during a shoot because you have to focus on your face and body on top of trying not to shiver and cry to your mom to go home! just kidding! kind of…

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would definitely change the height limitations. That has always been my struggle although I try not to let it limit me. But it’s just the truth an it’s just the industry. There are just many castings that will only take models 5’7 or higher and that’s what agencies want as well. So I want to change the industry so that small petite girls such as myself have more jobs and people accept us the same way they would as they would a girl who’s 5’11.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t practice sports per se, I do run and hike at least 3 times a week and go to the gym once or twice as well. I eat pretty healthy. The truth is with modeling and acting, what you eat really does matter! if you eat healthy your face is clearer, your eyes are brighter, your body is tighter, and that all shows up in photos. The amount of sleep you get, affects your energy and vibe on the floor. Everything factors in and really does matter. So people may think you’re crazy when you’re drinking ginger juice for lunch but you know it’s beneficial to your career and that’s all that matters! I also feel it’s important to splurge every once in a while so I give myself a cheat day, once a week because normal food is sometimes good for you and your body needs the toxicity to survive!

Monique Giselle sitting on the groundPlease share something people don’t know about you.

Something people don’t know about me is that I love to sing and dance but I’m totally shy about it! I oftentimes sing really really badly so people don’t think I have a voice but underneath it all, I can! it’s just a fear I’m sure I’ll get over someday!!!

Would you change anything about yourself?

Hmm that’s a hard one! I don’t think I would. I feel that everyone’s beautiful in their own way. Of course I would like bigger boobs and a stronger cheek bone but that’s what makes me, me! no need to change, just work with what ya got!

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

Haha the weirdest place I’ve ever peed was at an abandoned mansion on naval base in San Francisco where colonel Neiman lived back in the day. There are stairs down to a back entrance to the basement of the home that doesn’t actually open and there’s tons of old wood roting and spiders down there, but it is also the only place of privacy! A fellow model and I really had to go so that’s where we went!
