Interview with Red — Tattooed Model, Mother, Jäger Girl

Red is a 24-year old model residing in Smyrna, Delaware.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born in South Carolina, grown in little old Delaware – the name is Ashley, but Red is more appropriate nowadays. Along with raising my tiny monster, Pierceson, I hold the title for a lot of things. Model, Brand Ambassador, Nursing Student, Jäger Girl, and my newest venture, Cocktail Waitress at a strip club.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Oh goodness, girls ask me this all the time!

I got my foot in the door to the modeling industry working at car shows for an audio company when I was 20. It all happened so fast, it was kinda just like “here, put this shirt on and go take pictures with people’s cars.” That’s what started my portfolio. After that, I just ventured into bigger, better, and more tasteful projects. Haven’t looked back since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Well I was about to say “One day I hope to have my shit together.” But thinking about it, I enjoy my crazy, unpredictable, hellish little life. Keeps me on my toes, and that’s the best way to be, right?

In the next few years, I plan on graduating nursing school and landing a Labor & Delivery RN position. Building up my portfolio bigger and better than ever, being recognized more than just around my area. Living on my own, no more roommates. And continuing to live my life happily ever after raising hell with Pierceson.

Red modeling a bridal dress in the countrysideHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I frequently do promotional modeling. Making appearances at various locations, promoting the job at hand, then leave. I love it. I often do photo shoots too. Mainly glamour, boudior, and promotional. I’d love to venture out and broaden my horizons in that sense. I could rock a catwalk.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My worst experience hands down was 3 years ago, receiving a fraudulent check that I thought was from an event I’d worked. After I deposited it I found out it was a fraud, and I am the one that got punished for it. Comes with a “Black List” label on Check Systems, and not being able to open a bank account for 5 years. I still have 2 years to go, lucky me!

My best experience would be working for Jägermeister. I have met so many interesting and amazing people working promotions for them. It really put into perspective for me that everyone is their own uniquely beautiful person. Plus, being down at the beach all summer working a fun ass job has its perks too.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Well back when I was doing car shows, one of the events consisted of a Dunking Booth that I somehow ended up being volunteered for. Horribly embarrassing. I was wearing a white top, make up running down my face, hair had me looking like a drown cat. Wouldn’t recommend that to anyone!

Red wearing a pink top and black miniskirtIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes! Well not change it, but advice I would love to give. To girls new to the industry, or trying to make their way into it; You do not have to take your clothes off to be noticed. And once you do, that’s mainly what you’ll be wanted for. If that’s the route you want to go, make sure it’s classy and tasteful. Something you’ll be proud of!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not play any sports, but if I did have time for volleyball I’d be in there like swimwear! My jobs require me to be on my feet pretty much all day, I could probably run a marathon in stilettos by now and not think twice about it. Come to think of it, I have climbed the side of a cliff in heels for a shoot before!

When it comes to food, I eat whatever I want. But whatever I want doesn’t usually consist of anything greasy, fatty, or sugary anyway. I do love a good pizza though!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m actually super self conscious of my appearance. Weird, right?

Would you change anything about yourself?

As self conscious as I may be, I don’t think I’d actually change anything about myself. Because it makes me who I am. Except there may be a boob job in my future, I would change that!

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I have the sickest shark phobia, but I love the beach! I am terrified yet fascinated. I will not even swim in a pool by myself, no matter the size. I start thinking about Sharks and it freaks me out. If I’m in water, someone has to be with me at all times. Yet, I’m glued to the TV during Shark Week, that’s my shit.

Interview with Sierra Lanae — Fitness & Fashion Model battling MS

Sierra Lanae is an 18-year old model residing in Aurora, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Thorton, CO. My mom, Jen Brown, is a fitness model and competitor in the NPC & has been competing for over 5 years. I go to school for cosmetology but at the end of the day there is nothing I love more than going to the gym.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I got into modeling in the summer of 2014. I started because I want to make sure I do everything I’ve ever wanted to do before my Multiple Sclerosis takes over, one of those things on my list is modeling. I also had huge insecurities with the way I looked. When I was younger struggled with anorexia and bulimia. After that I struggled with eating too much and never wanting to go outside or be around people, I was so ashamed of how I looked. My insecurities got better when I started going to the gym everyday and saw how my hard work & passion was improving my life for the better. I was still really insecure when I started modeling; I thought if I put myself out there I may like what I see & I do! Modeling has changed my life completely!

Sierra Lanae wearing shorts and topWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My biggest dream was to fight MMA until I found out the stress it would put on my body with MS would make it worse. I now wish to pursue my modeling career and compete in NPC. I also wish to graduate cosmetology school and after get certified in personal training and nutrition. I also want to do modeling workshops to teach other models how to use their insecurities to their advantage.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I have at least a couple photo shoots a month. I haven’t done any catwalks and only one video commercial.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I would say my best experience in modeling is when someone messaged me on Facebook after my first time being in a magazine and told me they were a huge fan and loved my work. The worst experience would have to be a photo shoot I had where he would take one picture put the camera down and make sexual jokes followed by comments on how I should consider nude.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

In my very first photo shoot someone stole my shoes downtown that I was borrowing from a friend.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

That in order to make it in the industry, everyone thinks you have to get nude and you don’t.

Sierra Lanae hanging from a fork liftDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Fitness and nutrition in everyone’s life, not just models! Proper Nutrition is one of the most important factors in a healthy lifestyle. I personally eat a lot of protein, fruits and veggies; any carbs I have I cut off at about 4pm. I also eat 5 to 6 times a day and drink as much water as possible. Fitness side of things cardio and I are not friends but I try and at least get 20 minutes cardio session in the early morning and after a workout. Mixed Martial Arts is the only cardio I love to do and would suggest it for everyone to try. I love lifting being able to go into the gym put on your headphones and drowned the world out for an hour or two makes all the difference to make you happier & more relaxed. Not to mention when you reach a new max weight or see progress, that amazing feeling you get knowing it’s because of your hardwork! A healthy physique is something that can’t be bought and has to be worked for.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a superman nerd -everyone knows this-. Every boyfriend I had until graduated high school somewhat looked like Superman or reminded me of Superman. I use to also read the comic books and do different voices for each character. I would also play the radio show to put me to sleep.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I take people’s criticism to heart too much.

What features do you look for in a partner?

I guess my answer to that is someone that I can be myself around. Someone I can go to the gym with because I am not giving that up for anyone! If we can’t have a real conversation it’s not going to work. They also have to be funny. I care about personality more than anything else.

Interview with JustJenny

JustJenny is a 25-year old model residing in Denver, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born and raised in Colorado in a suburban town south of Denver. I’m the youngest of three at 25, and I have a medley of hobbies. From video gaming to cooking, writing fiction to modeling, I always have something to invest my time into! I’m passionate about volunteering and have done so both locally and internationally. I’ve waited tables at Waffle House, turned a wrench at a quick lube, and have been working as a sales operations analyst doing forensic data investigation for the past five years.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Growing up in the 90’s, it was hard to ignore Tyra Banks’ show America’s Next Top Model. I was fascinated with all the contestants from each cycle, and my mom said I would make a great model. Introverted as I was back in high school, it took a letter from John Casablancas’ Model and Talent Management program to get me excited and fully committed to learning all I could about the trade. My parents enrolled me in Casablancas’ modeling and acting program in 2007, and by 2008 I graduated with such confidence and self-respect for myself that I pursued modeling without the help of an agency. I know with certainty that I would be a completely different person today if I hadn’t enrolled in that program, and I’m grateful every day for deciding to join it.

JustJenny on a field with an antelopeWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I am currently involved with writing a science fiction trilogy, and aspire to be at least a part-time author once I publish the series. Writing, like modeling, allows me to creatively express myself with no boundaries. Without those two hobbies in my life it would be a lot more dull! I’m very family-oriented, and I want to settle down and start a family soon, which is within reach. Each of these goals wake me up in the morning and make me strive to do the best that I can to achieve them!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Majority of my modeling is through photo shoots and runway or fashion shows. I am open-minded to any genre you can think of, yet I respect myself and my body enough to have nothing to do with erotic, implied or full nude, and anything that I will tell you right away would make me feel uncomfortable. Modeling is something I have fun with and want my friends and family to be proud of, so I firmly stand beside the decisions I make.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve had my share fair of good and bad experiences, but one of my best ones was actually the first photo shoot I was involved with after graduating from John Casablancas. I did some networking online and found a group of photographers who set something up around some of Denver’s unique graffiti sites open to all models. I was so excited, and my confidence shined through in all my photos. Each of the photographers I cycled through were pleasantly surprised when they asked me how long I had been modeling, and I answered with only a few months. Hearing their compliments on how fluid my transitions were on posing, and how keen a sense of the lighting and angles I had really helped me realize that I had found something that can truly make me feel accepting of myself. In all honesty, it freed me of any negative views I had about myself on top of being a creative outlet, and I’ve never looked back since.

JustJenny modeling a fur coatHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I went to New Mexico for a photo shoot once and shot out in the desert. It was my first time working with that photographer, but his portfolio held the type of pictures I wanted in mine, so I went out on a limb to work with him out of state. I was nervous and anxious, but after we shot my first outfit I was overwhelmed with how candid and magical the shots turned out. There was this one where I had to jump as high as I could and open my eyes into the blinding sun, and I felt like it was something we’d have to go at over and over to capture the right moment. After the first take the photographer said that we got it, and when he showed me the shot I couldn’t agree more! The movements we both envisioned actually happened on the first take, and it just felt like a connecting moment between the two of us.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

When I first started out, it seemed like a majority of people assumed that I would be okay with shooting promiscuous or nude photos, just because I’m a woman with a decent figure at 5’7″. It gets under my skin when someone in the modeling industry doesn’t look past your features and makes assumptions off of your look alone before getting to know the genres you enjoy shooting, your own inner creative ideas, or how your work ethic measures up. If I could change anything it would be those preconceived misconceptions about models just in it to look pretty.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Throughout high school I played volleyball and kick boxed, and I even joined a fencing club. I have exercise-induced asthma so anything that involves running I avoid like the plague! Nowadays I enjoy hiking around Red Rocks and Green Mountain, and I play volleyball just for fun. My boyfriend is a jiu-jitsu fighter so he’s gotten me into that quite a bit. I don’t currently practice under a gym, but it’s a gentle art that I really appreciate and enjoy.

JustJenny face closeupPlease share something people don’t know about you.

I’ve held a career-worthy job for five years, and it still comes to a shock to people when I tell them I haven’t gone to college. It was on my to-do list out of high school, but it just wasn’t in the hand I was dealt. An honest mistake for them, assuming I have a higher education because I have a stable job. I love anything to do with food, cooking and eating and socializing, and I wholly believe I was born with two stomachs by how much I can put down. All-you-can-eat-sushi? Bring it on! Endless buffet? To the front of the line! I’m also a bookworm and read whenever I’m not busy writing. I’m a hardcore RPG gamer too, and yes, my level 84 Orc on Skyrim will throw you into next Tuesday with her ebony battleaxe!

Would you change anything about yourself?

Ever since puberty I’ve struggled with cystic acne, and still haven’t gotten to a content place with the health of my skin. It’s gotten better over time, but I still have some pretty bad scarring. My goal is to look healthy without the aide of makeup. The path I’ve laid out for myself to reach that goal is coming along nicely, but as always will be a work in progress.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

Yes! I am happily taken, going on two solid years this upcoming February! He’s the coolest, silliest guy I know, and I’m blessed to have randomly met him at a Jamba Juice when he tried to take the smoothie I ordered. Each day he inspires me to push my limits, to always have as much fun as humanly possible, and to be thankful for all that we have in life. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have even started writing my book. We’re a nice mixture of partners in crime, romantic lovers, and the most awesome fans in each other’s lives!

Interview with Jamie Lavender — “Just For Fun” Model

Jamie Lavender is a 21-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey y’all I’m Jamie Lavender! I currently reside in Los Angeles, California, but I grew up in Austin Texas. I work in real estate and modeling is something I’ve been doing as a hobby here and there for about 5 years.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Growing up, I didn’t have much interest in the modeling industry. I was more geared towards the fashion design; I’ve always been very creative. When I was 16, however, I walked into a well known, high end hair salon and the manager dropped her jaw at my leggy, thin, 5’10” tall figure and begged me to be in a runway show. It was unexpected, but I accepted and had a blast! Plus, I got a free makeover! From then on, I sought out more modeling opportunities.

Jamie Lavender face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally, I’m really enjoying what I do right now, managing luxury properties for event and vacation rentals. I guess in the next 5 years, I hope my company will be much more well known and successful.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I only model as a hobby and only half of the shoots I do are paid, so I don’t model very much. I do a photo shoot once a month or every other month. I do mostly lingerie and pinup, fine art and tasteful nude, swimwear, and casual fashion. I don’t do XXX or erotic shoots.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had modeling was an all expense paid 3 day trip to Miami for a lovely beach shoot. It was tons of fun and who doesn’t love a paid vacation!? I also got to keep both of the bikinis I wore for the shoot which were $300 each. Too cool!

The worst experience I’ve had…hmmm well I’ve had many, so I’ll sum it up with two words: unprofessional and scam! There’s a big difference between a photographer and a guy with a camera. Also, paid or non-paid, I really hate when I waste my time just to be used in some type of scheme. It’s hurtful and degrading.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I auditioned for America’s Next Top Model one year and was rejected because I’m “too big to be a regular model and too small to be a plus size model” … I was shocked. Oh well!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think photographers should have to have licenses. I think it would cut out the unprofessionalism and scams.

Jamie Lavender showing her bellyDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love hot yoga and pilates! I work out 3 to 5 times a week. I try to watch what I eat, but I’m definitely not one of those calorie counting models. I definitely indulge. Life is short!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

In 2011, I dropped everything back home in Austin Texas and moved to LA by myself on a one-way ticket with $500 and no plan at all! It was the most difficult, yet best decision I’ve ever made!

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wish I could have a flat stomach and not gain weight so easily, but I do love my curves. I get so many compliments on my round booty! And now that I’ve had a boob job, I feel extra confident and sexy!

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

Definitely the ability to fly! I’d never have to worry about LA traffic or expensive plane tickets again!

Interview with Slim — Country, City and Nerd all in one

Slim is a 25-year old model residing in Morgan Hill, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Megan but I go by Slim. I was born in LA and moved many times for fun and business with my family growing up; Vegas, San Diego, Big Bear, Santa Cruz, and now Morgan Hill.

I’ve been in commercials and a Bon Jovi Music video when I was little. I’ve also been contacted by America’s Next Top Model and Donald Trump’s, Miss California. I turned both down for personal reasons though I do wish I hadn’t. I am 25 and been on my own since I was 19, I have had ups and downs with my family but we are now closer than ever and I love them very much, along with my friends, but they’re all just nuts.

I’ve taken a very professional turn in my career and work hard doing what I do, which is Marketing, Events Coordinating, and I’m the Office and Yard Manager for a Local Lumber and Construction Company. I’m loyal and fierce, I’ve never done drugs and nor will I. I drink socially and have a great time.

Slim wearing a long dressWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Modeling per-se is somewhat recent, but I’ve been in the industry itself  my whole life. As mentioned earlier I was in front of the cameras at a young age, then took a break throughout my teens and am now getting back into it. I’m a somewhat shy and composed person but once in front of the camera I come to life. I enjoy this and I want more.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My professional goals are just starting to form. I’ve worked in the retail sector until about a year ago. I work in a fast paced company now and we are growing by the minute and I am so excited to be a part of it. I work very hard and hard work really does pay off, I’m finally proud of what I do.

In ten years I want to be on top, I want to be making a lot of money and having a blast and spoiling my family, have vacations; I want to buy my younger siblings their first cars, and my children if I am gifted with any by then. I grew up getting what I wanted and my mom struggled but she did it, now it’s my turn to help, and there won’t be struggle. I’ll do this whether I do well in modeling or I continue on the business path I’m currently on now.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I’ve only done a few photo-shoots, One music video, a few commercials, I’ve been on the local news a few times. I’m too busy to do it constantly. So far modeling doesn’t pay the bills.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

No super bad experiences so far, except driving a few hours away to do a pin up shoot, and got some of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen, spent all day doing it, then to go home to a phone call saying that the Memory Card failed. That was really a bummer. Other than that, really cool experiences and a lot of fun!

Slim next to a wallHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

No, I haven’t done enough to really have crazy experiences. All of them have been very professional.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love food, I eat all kinds, and I never look at the calories. I eat whatever I want when I want it. And the most exercise I do is maybe some leg bends here and there. I’ll get better if I need to when I’m older but my excuse is, my mom eats the same way, popped out four kids and could still walk the runway.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m generally a very open person, I love to game, love Disney music. I come off very hard but I am very easily amused and my eyes light up like a child when I experience new and fun things.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would love a boob job, that’s on my top to-do list, maybe a little work on my eyes to make them pop more, give the cat eye look without having to put a pound of make up on, and if I had money to spare, like a lot of money, maybe make my butt just a little bigger but not Kim K. big, that’s just not attractive. I love Jessica Biel’s butt, or Scarlett J.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

I love these type of questions!!!! Okay so, I would love to have Telekinesis powers!! I would love to not age and die. Read minds, but I already do that pretty well, so maybe not. I could literally go on and on; I love Marvel so I’m big on this kind of stuff!! Go X-Men!

Interview with Danielle Victoria — Red headed trouble maker

Danielle Victoria is a 21-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

California born and raised red head. I drive too fast and drink too much tea. I’ve lived in LA for 3 years, I moved as soon as I turned 18 and never looked back! Full time model, actress and sass giver.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was 14 years old, my home town was holding a talent scouting event called ‘Pro Scout’ in our Convention Center. My friends and I, and most of the other girls in my class, decided to go for fun. I remember thinking it was so bizarre that this opportunity was happening to me. Becoming a model and being from such a small city seemed almost impossible and now there was this huge chance it could happen!

They started going through all of us and said goodbye to the majority of the girls that had been there that they were not interested in. Only a handful of us were left, and we were now presented in front of 35 well known acting and modeling agencies and agents from around the Country!! Long story short at the end of the event with all the agencies, I was the second most wanted model out of 1,000, with a total of 9 agents wanting to represent me. It was the beginning of everything. Still so unreal to me how this all came about. So incredibly thankful!

Danielle Victoria at the sunset long hairWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Hmmm this is a hard question for me to answer. My goals for my career change frequently. For instance I used to want to pursue acting more and with passing time I’ve realized It’s just not what I want to be doing. Seeing every aspect of this industry is very educational, I’m finding new things I want to try constantly. I tend to be a very indecisive person so I think I will always have goals that are improving and changing with my style and how my life plays out! I’m just along for the ride.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I do something work-related almost on a daily basis! Business never quits over here in Los Angeles! My week usually consists of castings, auditions for commercials, shoots, various creative meetings, and planning with photographers.

When I’m working from home I’m responding to emails, submitting myself for jobs and castings, setting up shoot dates, coming up with concepts for projects, updating my portfolio with new images I am sent, keeping up with my agents. There’s always work to do! Being home is definitely not a break! Luckily the weekends seem to be very uneventful for me so usually I’m able to take the weekend off!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

One time I was booked for this music video for an underground artist, and as soon as I arrive on set, it was a disaster. First of all it was in the industrial area of eastern Los Angeles so of course there was no parking. I ended up parking a 10 minute walk away and had to run to the studio because finding parking had made me late. I Walk in the door and it’s the weirdest studio with the weirdest vibe. The PA was trying to hit on me and wouldn’t get the not interested front I blatantly had up. Then the Director tried to tell me they wanted me to be wrapped in a sheet while naked, when this had never been discussed before, and It was all very low budget and kind of sketchy so I said, “I’m not comfortable doing this I’m sorry”. After I stated my feelings they said I could leave and I left! Thank God.

Another fun little story is that on another music video set which happened to be one of my favorite jobs to date, I met my boyfriend! This industry is so unpredictable you never know who you’re going to meet or how the shoot will go! That’s one of the reasons why I enjoy this little world; it’s never the same thing twice!

Danielle Victoria in the countryIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

People’s perceptions of it. A few of my relatives are not the biggest supporters of my lifestyle and it’s created a boundary in my family, which is frustrating and feels almost degrading. Having your own family not understand you is rough but I am living my dream and I wouldn’t have it any other way so they will have to accept it whether they are fans of my career or not.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I just started this work out regimen last week that’s a lot of cardio and ab workouts! I’m not much of an exerciser, so getting used to this will be a struggle for me!

Well as far as food goes, I try to eat on the healthier side when I’m eating at home. I mainly buy organic and raw foods, but I eat out way more then eat at home. I try my hardest to stay away from deep fried things, pastas, and other carb-y foods. But I can’t turn down a pizza or a burrito! I’m not the best with dieting!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I danced ballet from age 2 through 16 and miss it everyday! I still throw on my pointed shoes once in a while.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’d love to cure my pizza addiction, and I wish I would stop overthinking everything.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I used to have emetophobia, which is the fear of vomiting, growing up! I would do anything to avoid throwing up, and people who were throwing up. Once on a road trip my step brother got car sick and I was so traumatized I made someone else sit next to him in the car after that day and this went on for years!

Interview with Jennifer Estrada

Jennifer Estrada is a 19-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi there, my name is Jennifer Estrada. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. My hobbies other than modeling is art, making stencils, making a mess on a canvas board, going to the beach, art galleries and every music festival in LA.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I got into modeling when I was 15 years old, I went to my very first casting and nailed it got into an agency and things were great.

Jennifer Estrada wearing a skirtWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goals are to finish fashion school and start a toddlers clothing line, also to become a better model, be in a billboard and model for American Apparel is one big goal of mine.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I usually model weekends because of school and mainly book photo shoots. I’ve done some catwalks but that’s mostly during fashion week.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience is you learn to love yourself and learn to accept the flaws you have and be comfortable with them. You meet a lot of really cool people. But the worst is some people can be very critical and mean but you should never let it get to you, you walk away with your head up.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I once twisted my ankle walking out of the runway, talk about embarrassing !!!!!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

For them to be nicer, some people can be very mean and that gets to people. The industry should accept anyone and everyone, give everyone an equal chance. If they want to model they should get a chance to, everyone should.

Jennifer Estrada walking in the countryDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I use to run a lot and play tennis, but now I take a walk everyday. I walk a lot or skateboard. I’m naturally skinny so to be honest I don’t watch what I eat at all, I eat pizza a lot, burgers and wings are my weakness. So I’m pretty lucky to not have to limit myself.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Most people don’t know I have a twin brother.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I used to want to change a whole lot about myself, I hated the fact that I am really skinny, that’s why I felt I should be a model to fit in. I have had so many bad comments told to me, in my face, about my weight. But I’m lucky to have a good man in my life to tell me otherwise. I learned to love myself the way I am.

What features do you look for in a partner?

Interview with Gabriella Caylor

Gabriella Caylor is a 20-year old model residing in Klamath, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Well I was born in Metro Manila, Philippines, and grew up in Humboldt County, Northern California. In my family I don’t have too many people that are close to me, except for my fiancé, my dogs, and my dad. Our group works so well that my fiancé and I even have a business with my dad that will soon blossom. My dad is a marijuana geneticist breeder, and my fiancé and I are blossoming breeders as well. My hobbies and interests are spiritual evolution, being outdoors, creating visuals, medical marijuana, strength training, music, and cars. I’m working towards being a spiritual teacher, photographer, and marijuana breeder. I want to continue modeling, but not as a full time profession, more like somehow I do when I want to. Right now I am making a living by modeling on the side, other side jobs, and providing products to marijuana clinics.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I had just turned 18 and photographers were starting to contact me to shoot because of some photos I took of myself on my cellphone. I said ya let’s work, and that was it. But ever since I was a teenager I’ve just did what I do and documented that shit. I got into the modeling industry because I love making visuals whether I’m in front of the camera or behind it.

Gabriella Caylor making exerciseWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five to ten years I see myself helping people navigate through the currents of life by aiding in the advancement of the mind, the spirit, the heart, and the body. I see myself helping people by providing quality medical marijuana genetics. I see myself being creative and sharing my visuals to help the world be more positive, more loving, more inspired, more daring, and more spiritually advanced. I want to build a family home in the trees and live a self sufficient lifestyle on many acres, sail a journey on the ocean, travel to different nations to enjoy many types of nature, be more advanced in playing violin, help the poorest people on the planet by building facilities and gardens that they need, marry my fiancé and start our family together.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Right now I’m modeling professionally on the side, but I’m always taking photos with my fiancé all the time. Right now I’m focusing on my research and spiritual advancement so that I’m able to teach others and be a breeder. I have people that are waiting to work together so I’ll be doing more modeling very soon but ultimately I’m really saving for a camera. I mainly do photoshoots and I’ve done runway. The type of shoots I like to work on are fashion, lifestyle, glamour, action, art, and street. And I prefer to shoot outdoors!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I had modeling was working at a fashion show with other beautiful models who were cooperative not competitive! The worst experience I had was shooting at this estate overlooking the forest because that ultimately led me to sign a modeling contract that I thought would be good for me at the time. I was so wrong!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

A few times I helped some models that I was working with place tape over their nipples and that was a little too intimate for me!

Gabriella Caylor next to a treeIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the expectations of what someone should look like. Modeling should be a celebration of all body types, all different kinds of beauty. Also, that would create more work for models!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I live a very active lifestyle with my fiancé. Besides labor intensive activities, sports wise we hike with our dogs, we box, we lift weights, we do yoga, we play frisbee, and I do plyometrics. Sometimes we swim, and we always try to do something different, next week we’re going to go skimboarding! My ideal diet is a balance of vegetables, meat, fruit, dairy, and grains. I try to eat a lot nowadays because I’m in the process of gaining more muscle mass. I also drink a lot of water. I eat 80% healthy. I prefer to eat organic, non hazardous foods when I can.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I can change my oil and my tires and I started playing violin 13 years ago. Also I’m a vivid dreamer and have lucid dreams often.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I’m working on the best person I can be on the inside! Everyday it’s easier for me to respond with love and overcome my negative tendencies. I’m mostly in control of my feelings and thoughts, I just want to master myself.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

I’ve been in love with my man since I was 17! We got engaged 6 months later and have been going strong ever since then. When I first met him my energy literally recognized his energy, I was so confused as to how I felt like I knew this stranger so so well! I would describe my fiancé as a doer, hardworking, a contributor, spontaneous, my anchor, affectionate, positive, loyal, a problem solver, a brainstormer, handy, creative, loving, protective, supportive, honest, rare, understanding, fun, proactive, balanced, a student of life but also a leader.

Magda Lena in a wheat fieldWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I began modeling at the age of 14. Participating in as many shoots as possible. While attending beauty school working towards my aesthetics license more opportunities opened up and I became involved in multiple fashion runway events. Modeling is amusing to me as expressions can be accentuated through snap shots. True beauty can be captured.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five to ten years I see my self graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz. I will be working towards my Naturopathic Medicine License. I will continue to grow in all aspects of life. I see myself partnered with a reputable model agency, working and expanding in all areas.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am currently modeling approximately once a week. It will usually be a paid photoshoot, sometimes if a photographer has an exquisite idea I will be ok to trade for photos. I am fairly new to this industry and am happy to get as much exposure as possible. Since I am a full time student I mainly do photo-shoots for local artists. I enjoy pin up shoots and playing out characters through my photos.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Judging someone’s beauty based on their physical appearance can be deceiving. Everyone is truly beautiful at heart.

Magda Lena face closeupDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love to kick box. I started about a year ago and it is fantastic. It is a unique exercise because you are not only exercising your muscles but also your brain. I love learning new combos, it is a great way to release energy! I also love to surf. My mother taught me to surf when I was 9 years old. Ever since, my love for the ocean has continued to grow. I enjoy hiking and practicing yoga.
I do my best to eat locally grown organic produce. I have adopted a gluten free, ketogenic diet. My diet consists mostly of healthy fats, moderate amounts of protein and the rest vegetables. I perform optimally when my body is fueled by ketones, rather than glucose. Coconut oil is one of my favorites as well as a concentrated form, Brain octane from the Bullet Proof executive website. I take many daily supplements, the key players are Vitamin D & C, glutathione, and Omegas derived from Algae to optimize brain function. I mix a daily cocktail mixed with spirulina & chlorella. Probiotics are taken to assist with digestion. Astragalus, Ashwaganda, and resveratrol are a few others. The list goes on but I won’t leave you too baffled.
They key with optimizing my nutrition has been to truly listen to my body and find what works best for me.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I love to be silly. I am naturally energetic and laughing is my drug.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I would not change anything about my physical appearance, if so I would not truly be myself.

What features do you look for in a partner?

In a partner I look for adventurous and outgoing qualities. I look for someone to take my adventurous side to the next level. I like a tough guy who isn’t afraid to be weak at times. I am a romantic person and therefore I like to be charmed. Cooking is essential. My ideal man doesn’t have to be a master chef. A simple candlelight dinner and I will be pleased. I pay great attention to what I put into my body and my ideal man would do the same. Realistically love prevails all.

Interview with Heather Ford

Heather Ford is a 23-year old model residing in West Hollywood, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi I’m Heather! I am a true original Southern California girl who grew up in Simi Valley, which is located in Ventura County. Most people don’t know what I’m talking about when I say Simi Valley because it is such a small city so I always add in the Ventura County! I absolutely love living in California and feel truly blessed to have grown up here. What is nice is that most of my family also lives here including my parents and grandparents. I am extremely close with my family and I consider my mom to be my best friend.

I am a huge outdoorsy kind of girl. I love horseback riding, dirt bike riding, camping, going to the beach, hiking, snowboarding, and going boating on the lake. In addition to modeling, I also have my Bachelors Degree in Communication and I have worked as a Healthcare Consultant for the past four years.

Heather Ford wearing a jeans jacketWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have always loved being in front of the camera ever since I was very little. It was hard for me though because I don’t have parents that participated in the “arts” so they never really supported my dreams of becoming a professional model and actress.

I started putting myself out there right when I turned 18 and I’ve had a few ups and downs because of going to college and working, but I have been doing more acting and modeling work recently and have been the happiest I have ever been!

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My ultimate goal is to be a successful working actor. I don’t need or want all the fame, I just want to be working! I appreciate every work opportunity I get.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am modeling at least a few times a week. My schedule has never been busier. It is true that when you put your all into whatever you want to do, you get much more opportunities.
I do several catalog photo-shoots for clothing companies, and I do a lot of acting, which is my main passion.

Sometimes I will do photo-shoots with photographers just to update their portfolios and I also just recently participated in walking in my first fashion show for a charity event, which was so nerve-wracking!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Luckily, all of my shoots have been absolutely amazing. I have worked with some awesome photographers who have made me always feel completely comfortable and they do what they say they will.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was shooting on the beach with one of my favorite photographers and I kept noticing these two boys kept walking by. The eventually got very close to where they could hear what my photographer was saying. So my photographer decided to play a joke and started saying things like “Let’s do this Heather. You know what Playboy wants. Give me the sexy Playmate stuff we need and so…” So these boys immediately thought I was a Playmate and I just went with it being as I was doing an implied topless pose at the moment anyways. They all wanted to take a picture with me and were asking what month I was. I just laughed and it completely made my day.

I love when my photographers crack and make jokes and make shooting so much fun!

Heather Ford wearing a pink bikiniIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the body image part of modeling. I have always worried about my body and whether or not it was good enough. Now that I have grown up a bit from when I first started modeling, I embrace my body now and that’s why I’ve gotten so into fitness. I don’t like being extremely skinny and I absolutely love my muscle tone and curves.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I am a big fitness enthusiast! I love love love working out! I go to the gym and lift weights 6 times a week. I also love doing yoga, it is one of the only things that actually can completely relax me.

I am part of a professional fitness team called Team Edge, and we are bikini competitors for NPC. We live a very disciplined lifestyle and follow a strict meal plan and workout plan. It’s very hard, and not for the faint of hearts, but I absolutely love it! And I love the fact that you can actually see my abs.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Something that most people would never know about me is that I am a huge worrier. In fact, I worry about worrying too much!

People would never guess this about me because I always try to be positive and upbeat about everything and I try to live in the Now, but in reality I am always thinking about what could happen in the next month or two.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

If I could change anything about myself, I would change the fact that I am terrified to take risks in life.

I know that the best things come out of leaving your comfort zone, but it is so hard for me to do that sometimes. I wish that I had the courage to take more risks. I am working on it every day!

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is eating sweets! Oh man! If I could eat sweets all day, everyday, I totally would. I think I am a fat kid at heart, because if I started listing off all of my favorite foods, you would think I’m 400lbs.

I absolutely love frozen yogurt, ice cream, donuts, chocolate, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, french toast, and the list goes on and on and on.

It’s very hard for me sometimes to be so disciplined with my diet because I am not supposed to have any sugar at all. Sometimes I do have to cheat in order to keep my sanity!
