Interview with Gigi — Dental Assistant Quirky Asian Model

Gigi is a 24-year old model residing in Washington, District of Columbia.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Baltimore, MD but grew up in a small town named Odenton and was born into a family of 4, of whom I am the youngest. I have 2 older sisters aged 34 and 32, and an older brother aged 26. I grew up singing karaoke with my Father who wanted to be a singer back in Korea but couldn’t continue his dream because my Mother was pregnant with my oldest sister at the time.

I’ve always wanted to be an actress or work in the entertainment industry but was too shy to pursue the career. My hobbies include Karaoke, adventuring out into a town, eating a lot of ice cream with no regrets, watching movies, listening to music, taking pictures, hanging out with my closest friends, skyping with my godson who lives in Alaska, making videos, specially music videos. My interests include music therapy sessions, Pinterest, Fashion, Food, traveling, experiencing life and blogging.

Although my profession is being a Dental Assistant, Model, Singer and Godmom, I am still in the process of finding myself.

Gigi modeling white lingerie upside downWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I never dreamed of becoming a model. I had self esteem issues growing up and was never comfortable in my own skin. I was first asked to be the main girl in my best friend’s music video in which I was featured on the track back in 2013. The videographer loved my look and asked me why I hadn’t been in the entertainment industry before. After shooting the music video “All for You” by Maximus Ft Gi I was asked to model in an Ao Dai Fashion Show for the Vietnamese Community. And I guess since then I managed to finally pursue modeling as a hobby to better find myself.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goal? Would be to be married to my best friend and have beautiful children while working in a field that I love. Five to Ten years from now, I’m not entirely sure where I will be nor what I will be doing. But I’m hoping I’ll be in an industry which I love while being married to the love of my life.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I want to model as much as I possibly can but because I work full time as a dental assistant I rarely get the chance to model. But lately, my modeling gigs have been for Fashion related shoots; glamour, fashion, car photo-shoots. I would love to be in videos, such as short films on youtube or vlogs if I were given the chance.

Gigi modeling a purple stripped miniskirtDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t have time to play sports, I used to play football for my church back in high school. I typically eat, whatever I want. I don’t believe in starving myself just to look a certain way.

Nutrition and exercise is crucial to one’s lifestyle, but I would be a hypocrite if I said I solely focus on that. I have a full time job and it leaves me completely exhausted at the end of the day. I try to exercise whenever I have the chance to. Such as doing squats or walking around places, typically downtown places or at malls.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

People don’t know that I can act.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Honestly, I would change my boobs. I’m perfectly content with the rest of my body.

What was the meanest rumor ever spread about you?

The meanest rumor I’ve ever heard about myself would definitely be that I’m a crazy bitch. I am pretty much the nicest chill down to earth person you could ever come across, I would never do anything to hurt someone.

Interview with Kay “The Walk” Anna — Fierce Model with Big Aspirations

Kay “The Walk” Anna is a 25-year old model residing in Washington, District of Columbia.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey y’all! My name is Kay Anna and I was born and raised in the DMV area. For those who don’t know, that stands for D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Not the Department of Motor Vehicles! I graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where I studied Sports Management. I love the sports industry and aside from my dream of modeling, my desired career path will lead me to become a sports reporter. I have my own blog where I talk about anything and everything but, it is mostly geared toward sports and fashion.

Kay The Walk Anna modeling a black dress in an alleyWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I got involved in modeling when I was 15 years old, doing local runway shows. I was super involved in sports during my high school years, participating in crew, track and field and gymnastics so, it left little room to do much more. During my time at Old Dominion University, I participated in runway shows for the Fashion Association and collaborated with other students on fashion projects. It was always a rewarding experience to collaborate with other artistic minds and create something. After graduating and moving back to the DMV, I got involved in DC Fashion Week. I loved participating in DC Fashion Week because it provided me an opportunity to network with people who have a similar passion as I do. Plus, I got to show off my fierce walk that I love so much.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I see myself continuing to model, furthering my career as a sports reporter, moving near a beach and living a happy life!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I have dabbled in every facet of the industry from photo-shoots and runway to acting. I love being able to collaborate with different creative minds whether it be an edgy photo shoot or a fun, smiley runway show. I’m an open-minded woman and I will try almost anything just once, sometimes the crazier the idea the more fabulous the image or concept turns out!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Most of my modeling experiences have been fun. I love to bring positive energy and enjoy myself on set so, the time can be enjoyable and productive for everybody! With that being said, I don’t really have a worst experience when it comes to my modeling career. What I can say is that I hate disorganized anything so, if I come to a photo-shoot or a runway show and there is no organization or preparation that would be a terrible experience for me.

Kay The Walk Anna modeling at a runwayIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think the industry has evolved a lot over the years. As someone who loves runway and is 5’6, I would love if the runway standard was not 5’9 but, I understand the reasons behind it. To love the industry is to respect the reasons for the standards that have been set. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love food. I workout so that I can eat what I want. Since good food is a weakness, I don’t really turn down a meal. Everything from steak and potatoes to salmon salad. I don’t really eat dessert with my dinner but, I live for cupcakes and chocolate.

Having participated in sports pretty much my whole life, I am used to various workout regimens per whatever sport I was participating in. Currently, I have about 10 killer ab workout variations that I switch up every couple of days, Zumba and cycling classes are my favorite quick workouts and occasionally I run or use the elliptical machine for cardio.

Would you change anything about yourself?

All the experiences I’ve had in my life, both positive and negative, have combined to make me the woman I am today and that is a beautiful. I don’t regret and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Do you have any fears or phobias?

Trays. I’m sure most everyone has been to a Chick-Fil-a or some other fast food place and they serve you meals on those plastic trays. EWWW. They weird me out and make me uncomfortable therefore, I always order my food to go.

Interview with Mariah Sue — Youtube Beauty Vlogger and Model

Mariah Sue is a 23-year old model residing in Waterbury, Connecticut.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Canada, Fredricton NB to be exact, but only lived there a few short months. I guess my father, who is a a canadian native, just wanted his only daughter to be born there. I was raised in CT my whole life, although I am not the biggest fan of it. I feel like there isn’t much of a future in the career paths I have in mind. I have a great family and an even more amazing boyfriend; I went to cosmetology school so I am a licensed cosmetologist and I also Film Beauty videos for YouTube – I go by “Pinkl0vexx” or “Mariah McLean” for which I film makeup and hair tutorials as well as other fun videos like hauls, what’s in my purse etc; I truly love what I do and it’s been a blessing to get some income from doing what I love. Makeup is my passion and I like to believe I have true talent with it. Although I continue to learn everyday.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Back in 2010, I had a “friend”, for whom I use the term loosely because she was a total bitch, who modeled. She always would post racy pictures on Facebook but I always liked them and would comment and be like “wow hottie!” She would always encourage me to model and I would be “great at it” so one day I asked her who to go to and she set me up with a great local photographer named “Jay Walker” He was awesome and totally a great mentor. I still talk to him, and she ended up getting jealous and told people I had copied her.

Mariah Sue topless wearing jean shortsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I just want to be happy. If you’re happy, then life is good. I would love to see my youtube channel take off and make that my full time career and income. I would also love to be featured in Inked Magazine and any other tattoo magazines. I have a dream to be playboy centerfold but unfortunately due to my tattoos, my dreams of being a bunny may never happen. I was told by a PB photographer that the “tattoos would be an issue” and so that kind of shot me down. I still would love to submit one day though.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I honestly don’t model as often as I would like to. I am super hard on myself and if I am not committing to eating well and exercising often, I won’t shoot. Although I do have plans for upcoming shoots this year! I would love to break into music videos one day, that would be pretty cool. I enjoy glamour modeling, lingerie and would only do nudes for a well established company such as Playboy.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have had pretty much great experiences. I have been able to network and meet some really awesome photographers who have worked alongside well known photographers. I have had the chance to actually conversate with some well known PB photographers which blows my mind sometimes; modeling has opened some doors… of course I would love to see some bigger doors open but it’s such a tough industry to get into because everyone thinks they’re a model nowadays especially with Instagram and Instafame.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Looking back I think some of the funniest moments were being shy to do implieds or something just because you’re stark naked, you literally can’t be shy or feel intimidated by a photographer, unless you have reason, because in this industry, if you make it big, everyone will see you naked.

Mariah Sue face closeupIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Less competition would be nice… hah. Just because it’s tough for you to get noticed when there are so many other chicks doing the same thing. You literally have to bring something new to the table! I would also like for the girls not to be so stuck up and support one another. It’s all about women empowering other women!!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I try to eat low carbs and hit up the gym often. I used to have trainers but that always ended up awkward, as you can imagine… haha. But they taught me some awesome techniques and good dieting tips so I am thankful for that! Nutrition is everything. Some people think they can workout and eat whatever they want but that’s so wrong! Having a healthy diet in conjuction with exercising is when you’ll see some amazing results!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I was raised in a very strict religious household and I am a tough tough cookie; a lot of people underestimate my strength, just ask my boyfriend, he always says “you would kick any girl’s ass” haha.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wouldn’t change anything, God made me the way I am and I embrace it.
I used to want fuller lips and considered lip injections but the way Kylie Jenner has made every girl do it, I have no interest – I enjoy being different, I hate being like everyone else!!

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

I would do some wild shit – skydive, anything dangerous and something I wouldn’t typically do! I would literally take chances and be fearless for those 24 hours!

Interview with Red — Tattooed Model, Mother, Jäger Girl

Red is a 24-year old model residing in Smyrna, Delaware.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born in South Carolina, grown in little old Delaware – the name is Ashley, but Red is more appropriate nowadays. Along with raising my tiny monster, Pierceson, I hold the title for a lot of things. Model, Brand Ambassador, Nursing Student, Jäger Girl, and my newest venture, Cocktail Waitress at a strip club.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Oh goodness, girls ask me this all the time!

I got my foot in the door to the modeling industry working at car shows for an audio company when I was 20. It all happened so fast, it was kinda just like “here, put this shirt on and go take pictures with people’s cars.” That’s what started my portfolio. After that, I just ventured into bigger, better, and more tasteful projects. Haven’t looked back since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Well I was about to say “One day I hope to have my shit together.” But thinking about it, I enjoy my crazy, unpredictable, hellish little life. Keeps me on my toes, and that’s the best way to be, right?

In the next few years, I plan on graduating nursing school and landing a Labor & Delivery RN position. Building up my portfolio bigger and better than ever, being recognized more than just around my area. Living on my own, no more roommates. And continuing to live my life happily ever after raising hell with Pierceson.

Red modeling a bridal dress in the countrysideHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I frequently do promotional modeling. Making appearances at various locations, promoting the job at hand, then leave. I love it. I often do photo shoots too. Mainly glamour, boudior, and promotional. I’d love to venture out and broaden my horizons in that sense. I could rock a catwalk.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My worst experience hands down was 3 years ago, receiving a fraudulent check that I thought was from an event I’d worked. After I deposited it I found out it was a fraud, and I am the one that got punished for it. Comes with a “Black List” label on Check Systems, and not being able to open a bank account for 5 years. I still have 2 years to go, lucky me!

My best experience would be working for Jägermeister. I have met so many interesting and amazing people working promotions for them. It really put into perspective for me that everyone is their own uniquely beautiful person. Plus, being down at the beach all summer working a fun ass job has its perks too.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Well back when I was doing car shows, one of the events consisted of a Dunking Booth that I somehow ended up being volunteered for. Horribly embarrassing. I was wearing a white top, make up running down my face, hair had me looking like a drown cat. Wouldn’t recommend that to anyone!

Red wearing a pink top and black miniskirtIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes! Well not change it, but advice I would love to give. To girls new to the industry, or trying to make their way into it; You do not have to take your clothes off to be noticed. And once you do, that’s mainly what you’ll be wanted for. If that’s the route you want to go, make sure it’s classy and tasteful. Something you’ll be proud of!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not play any sports, but if I did have time for volleyball I’d be in there like swimwear! My jobs require me to be on my feet pretty much all day, I could probably run a marathon in stilettos by now and not think twice about it. Come to think of it, I have climbed the side of a cliff in heels for a shoot before!

When it comes to food, I eat whatever I want. But whatever I want doesn’t usually consist of anything greasy, fatty, or sugary anyway. I do love a good pizza though!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m actually super self conscious of my appearance. Weird, right?

Would you change anything about yourself?

As self conscious as I may be, I don’t think I’d actually change anything about myself. Because it makes me who I am. Except there may be a boob job in my future, I would change that!

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I have the sickest shark phobia, but I love the beach! I am terrified yet fascinated. I will not even swim in a pool by myself, no matter the size. I start thinking about Sharks and it freaks me out. If I’m in water, someone has to be with me at all times. Yet, I’m glued to the TV during Shark Week, that’s my shit.

Interview with Julia Piper — Service Member and Model

Julia Piper is a 22-year old model residing in New Haven, Connecticut.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Julia. I’m originally from a small shoreline town in CT. I studied history at Eastern Connecticut State University for several years but left to explore opportunities working with nonprofits in the New Haven area. Social justice is a passion of mine. I come from a very large, crazy, and supportive family where I have three brothers and three sisters and I felt like this was the right move for me.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved with modeling when I was sixteen. I was scouted by a Boston modeling agent at the Providence Mall and signed with them. I was pretty involved with sports in high school including: cheerleading, lacrosse and paintball so my schedule didn’t really allow for me to do much traveling. When I went to college I put modeling on hold. I recently had some life changes this past summer and decided that I wanted to get back into things, so I’ve only been back working for about eight months now. I just love making art.

Julia Piper modeling an orange bikiniWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I would like to continue my work in the nonprofit sector. Modeling is also something that I am very passionate about and maybe somewhere down the line I’ll be able to find a happy harmony.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

This past summer I was booking between one to two jobs a week. It’s a little harder now because I work 50 to 60 hours a week. My schedule will change again in June so I’d like to spend as much time as I can modeling then. I’ve done video and commercial, but my main passion lies in crazy high fashion type shoots. I love doing the crazy hair and make-up and just playing pretend for a little while. I like feeling like I’m helping to create art when I model. I love art, and I love being able to be a part of it.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

You always get a few strange requests from people. My advice to young women would be to know what your boundaries are when going into a job and don’t be afraid to just say “no”. Always bring a chaperon with you and if a photographer pulls underwear out of their trunk you do not need to wear them -even if it is a paid shoot-! Haha, that was probably one of the weirdest things that’s happened to me. I have no problems saying “no” though. I respect myself, and I respect modeling as an art form, and sketchy trunk underwear are just a NO.

Julia Piper modeling a blue top and green jeansHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

There was one time a photographer was upset because I wasn’t being “sexy Heidi Klum” enough. I was like; that woman is gorgeous and has a killer body and wayyyyyy more experience than me. He kept saying “sexy Heidi Klum” and it was freezing and I was slipping off a rock and it was so awkward. I don’t do sexy. It’s just not my look and he had seen my portfolio. I brought a friend as a chaperon and she just kept laughing. He was a little over the top.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think the industry is making some great strides right now all on its own. I just think that it’s very important for young people to realize that there is a lot of work that goes into these pictures and unlike Beyonce I think that most of us do not wake-up like this. There are hours of hair, make-up and editing that go into most of these photos. At my 9 thru 5 job I’m lucky if I have time to remember the mascara.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I’m terrible at this. I try to eat healthy but since I work so much I found that I had been ordering food out way too much. I recently got back in to my old routine though. I do a shake for breakfast, salad for lunch, and I mix up dinner. I throw in some vitamin enhanced water throughout the day. I don’t punish myself though. Wings are my favorite food, any of my friend will tell you that. If I slip up it’s not the end of the world. Life is short and should be enjoyed. As long as there’s balance it’s okay. I also walk 30 minutes to and from work a day. I hardly ever drive and I even walk to the grocery store. I used to spend a lot of time in the gym, but my schedule is kind of crazy right now. I try to eat right and walk when I can and so far I’ve been able to maintain myself. I try to jog a few miles every now and then, too.

Julia Piper lying on the beachPlease share something people don’t know about you.

I am absolutely terrified of birds that can fly. Most people wouldn’t think this because I volunteer at an aquarium working with penguins. It’s only the ones that fly that freak me out. If there are birds on the side walk I will cross the street. Especially crows!

Would you change anything about yourself?

I have a gap between my two front teeth. All throughout my childhood I would try to think of ways to close it. I would take the rubber bands that my friends used on their braces and try to get my gap to close together. I begged my parents for braces and got made fun of from time to time. I wouldn’t smile with my mouth open. I was told that when I got my wisdom teeth it would close… I waited and waited for that day. Turns out I only have one wisdom tooth and that did nothing. My junior year of college I had the opportunity to get Invisalign to close it. I almost went through with it. Even the dental assistant told me how pretty it would look. How dumb is that? I have younger sisters though and I am always preaching about self-acceptance and confidence. How could I even think about doing something like that? How hypocritical would that be? Young people need to stop focusing on potential physical “flaws” and see the big picture. These things are what make us individuals. Today, I am so happy that I didn’t close my gap, I always smile with my mouth open now when my friends point a camera at me now.

What is the one talent you wish you possessed?

I really really wish that I knew how to sing. Sometimes when I’m drinking with friends I think that I can. I can’t. On rare occasions we’ll wander over to our local karaoke bar. It’s bad. I’ve seen the videos. It’d be way cooler if I could belt it out like Mariah.

Interview with Joey D — Model & Student

Joey D is a 35-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Indiana and lived with my family until 1997, when I moved to Chicago for college. I’ve lived here ever since. I enjoy working out and inspiring others to reach their health goals. I incorporate a psychological aspect to my training and advice. I believe in a holistic approach to complete health stemming from over 20 years in the gym and my MA in psychology. In my spare time I enjoy video games and reading. I run a couple websites, dance at events, and do other odd jobs to keep my life interesting.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I’ve been modeling off and on for 15 years. Not until 2014 did I start to focus on modeling. Since then, it’s been non-stop and I love it. I decided to focus on it since I was in graduate school and needed some extra income.

SONY DSCWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I’ve achieved so much in life that I’m at the point that everything is just icing on the cake. I never live to work and only believe in working to live so that I enjoy everything I do. If I’m still inspiring and helping people in some way for the rest of my life, I’ll be happy. There is no limit to the possibilities of what life can offer. I embrace every experience and look forward to each one.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I average about a shoot a month. I generally only do photo shoots focused on fitness and health modeling.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Every experience was awesome. There’s nothing I could classify as a worst experience. Since each one is different, it created a memory that will last forever.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes, I was shooting in TX and went with the photographer to pick up food after the shoot. The people at the restaurant recognized me. Then, we stopped at a drug store and the woman behind me bought my products for me for no reason other than she wanted to. It was so crazy and awesome. I was speechless.

Joey D lying on a bedDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not participate in any sports, but I eat like a bodybuilder. Bulking and cutting nutrition plans are my life. I’m constantly adjusting my food intake and tweaking things to create my body how I want it to look.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a classically trained singer. I’m actually working on getting a demo out in the future. Possibly on my YouTube channel or somewhere. I’ll keep you posted.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I regret nothing. Everything about me exists because of an experience I had. I love having lived my life and look forward to every future moment to see how it shapes my personality.

What is the longest you have gone without taking a bath?

I’ve gone 5 days without bathing. Instead of going on vacation, I stayed home and did nothing but played video games. It was amazing, but by the end I realized I really needed to shower and get out of the house. It made me appreciate human contact. haha!

Interview with Roxey Mcloo — Jack of all trades master of some?

Roxey Mcloo is a 24-year old model residing in Blanquillo, Durazno, Uruguay.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am a native Colorado pup born in Boulder Colorado, I’m half mutt, a 1/4 Slovak, and got some french and chitimatcha in me. I always wanted to be knowledgeable about something the way my big bro knows all about cars and mechanics. My dad is an amazing nobody from Kansas, who never graduated college and lived life as an artist and VW mechanic, my mom is a High School dropout from Fairview high who carved her way in the world despite accidentally becoming my mom when she was 19. She’s got huge saggy boobs and grows a dark mustache under nose naturally, which are two traits I’ve always been proud of and loved her for, because they make her uniquely her. My dad ended up becoming a dental assistant in the military and became very sick from Mercury poisoning, he’s been challenged by his health and ongoing shooting pains as long as I can remember, and therefore doesn’t get out much. He used to be an artist in Boulder until I came around.

I grew up dirt poor in a trailer with an outhouse and no running water in Cotopaxi, Co. I would totally do it again too! I had the great privilege of having my mom and father available to me, we couldn’t afford stuff, or food very well either, but generally always got by. I played Soccer for 8 years, became lazy and paunchy and soo friggin inflexible after I quit due to some chronic knee pain from an underdevelopment of my quads and lack of development in my Sartorious. I started to have really bad knee pain and quit soccer but not the athletic diet I had. I started dancing Argentine Tango when I was 15 about to be 16, I have a BS, I know ASL -American Sign Language- Spanish and some German; I teach Pole fitness, I have my cosmetology license, and I’ve always struggled with reading and comprehension, but I love math and am a totally movie buff, star trek geek, and I love to play video games!

Roxey Mcloo in the countrysideWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

A friend of a friend was modeling, back when I was 11 and had me go with her on a shoot, the photographer actually thought I was a total dud at first, then he took us back to the studio and became impressed with my expression of self as we got to raid his modeling closet of clothing. From there I always enjoyed being in front of the lens and slowly built my confidence in myself. I really had no concept of self image and was regularly surprised when any boy would take interest in me. I was used to being called a slut for having cartridge piercings in my ears, I wore boxers, baggy jeans and loose t-shirts, growing up. I’ve always had a knack for body language, and have always been involved in the arts, I am more of a drawer and a sketcher at heart and have found the new confidence in myself to peruse tattooing.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

After trying to have children for three-ish years, I’ve shifted my focus and bought a puppydog for the 1st time and plan to continue my work with health and well being and inspire confidence in one’s own image and beauty, my husband and I are hoping to open a gym or life fitness center that shares our love and passion for life and well being. I’m an aspiring tattoo artist so I imagine that should pick up in 5 years as well. My newest endeavor is my work as a model and a hair make up artist for Nika P Photography. I plan to continue connecting with people and inspiring them to be their best. So performing for pole dancing, aerial silks, Argentine Tango, traveling, dancing, eating and meeting other fun loving quality of life enthusiasts.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

As far as the modeling world goes I’m still a nobody, I mostly enjoy creating beauty, My husband is a photographer so I get spoiled with the opportunity to model for him, I haven’t done anything too main stream, thus far but am making my way athletically and do modeling more on the side, most the time it consists of studio creativity or on-site city walking around and using unique backgrounds, I love doing funky and old things as well.

Roxey Mcloo dancing tangoIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yeah, I’ve found there are a lot of egos in any of the Art worlds, and if I had the magical power of granting wishes, I would hope people would treat each other more respectfully, and not just to conclusion and be so attached to their assumptions of people, but I usually keep that to myself.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love health and nutrition! It’s been an intellectual pursuit as well as an ongoing lifestyle. I don’t believe in quick fixes or dieting, I believe in healthy and thoughtful living, I do my best to be well and respect my food and the sources it comes from. I personally avoid cigarettes, and believe in feeling out what feels good for me to eat in the right moment, it’s always been a matter of common sense and forth coming effort to treating my body good. I regularly practice Bikram Yoga, I teach pole fitness and dance, as well as Argentine Tango and recently have connected with Awaken Gymnastics, I love dancing and moving and stretching.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I have never been shit faced drunk. and I often enjoy awkward moments, umm also most people fail to notice I have freckle on my lip, like the pink part, not the ‘skin’ part, oh, and I love blueberries. Like Hard core.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Nothing really, and I say nothing simply because I believe in loving and accepting myself for where I’m at in life, and I fail miserably a lot of the time, but such is life right? just gotta keep trying and keep on keeping on, I always say expect the worst and hope for the best and be happy either way or do something about it rather then waste energy on complaining.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

I did it yesterday, the breeze was great, I just might do it again.

Interview with Jay Sharice — Confused happy mistake maker

Jay Sharice is a 23-year old model residing in Denver, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello readers,
I was born in Nevada but spent my elementary years on the Santee reservation so I guess you could say that’s where I grew up but I never stayed anywhere for long. My family currently resides in Nebraska. My mother is a stay at home mom and my father is retired. My hobbies include but are not limited to, longboarding, aerial dancing, creative writing, singing, acting, modeling, and learning acoustic guitar.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was 16 and living in Yakima WA, my best friend’s father wanted to become a photographer and we became his practice models. His picture to this day still gets the most praise out of all my work. After the shoot my friend and I were infatuated with the idea and began chasing the dream.

Jay Sharice sitting on a treeWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals are in 5 years to put a down payment on my first house and be certified in ASL -American sign language- so I can work with kids. Professionally as a model I plan to work my behind off until I sell one book and continue to model until my time is up in the industry.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Not as often as I’d like. Being short limits me to print, although I have done the catwalk for charity shows. My strength is in acting so I’m more vigilant about pursuing those jobs.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had so far is with my new photographer here in Colorado. We have similar ideas to how we want our portfolios to look and he helps promote me. It’s amazing to vibe that way with someone you’re working with on a shoot. I believe good energy shows in the photo.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes someone contacted me for a shoot but had no work to show. When I declined he begged me for pictures of my feet which gave me the heebie jeebies. I think liking feet is fine as long as you don’t get too close to mine.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change anything it would be the measurement standards. People are constantly arguing over curvy or thin. Personally I believe it should be both curvy and thin. Beautiful woman shouldn’t be limited to one size option, we are thick, thin, short, tall, curvy, athletic, dark, light and lovely. Instead of creating a new standard I vote we eliminate the standard.

Jay Sharice face closeupDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t consider myself to be very sporty but I longboard and do aerial dance. I run occasionally but that’s only for the health benefits. I really eat whatever I like as long as it isn’t in the junk food category. I don’t have meal times I only eat when I’m hungry and until I feel comfortably full, unless there’s cheese involved.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a very open and honest person so people know pretty much everything about me. I’m very chatty so if I had to guess people probably don’t know I spend hours a day dead silent in the middle of town just watching people and listening to their daily lives.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Small things but over all probably no. Small flaws make us unique.

Have you ever been fired from a job?

Yes, I was fired for sexual harassment. I was working at a skin care store when a young man walked in with bright blue hair. I whistled and said “That’s a great hair color. Can I help you find anything today?” He told me no so I returned to stocking. He called my company and filed an official complaint… So as you can see I can’t be trusted with compliments.

Interview with Model Max — From nothing to something

Model Max is a 24-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

When I was four years old I was adopted from Russia because my parents were abusive and alcoholics. That was one of the best times of my life but it had led to one of the most heartbreaking goodbyes when I had decided to pursue my own choices and dreams of being a model. My family hadn’t agreed with my life and they hadn’t changed much because I had to watch my brother walk out of the door to live on the streets when he was 17. I was taught to always follow the rules and follow the family tree so for years I didn’t have a voice but once I realized how hard it was to have nothing I worked ten times harder to be somebody. I worked out day in and day out to lose weight and still I had felt that no one noticed, so I had an idea of becoming a model. Did I know what a model was or even did? No. But when I had stepped in front of the camera I had found myself. My own voice and my personality had come out. I felt as if that’s all I had and even have.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

It’s been a year and a half since I started to model but I started on Craigslist and I had called professional photography places to ask and get a better understanding of what it takes to be a model and I still always felt as if something was missing. I never got answers there but then I started to join online contests and networking with others on social media. I met some great people along the way and have gotten to understand people. I fell in love with finding myself and the more I did it I lost and gained many relationships. I found out who was there and who wasn’t there for me. It’s an industry that will truly mold you into who you are.

Model Max walking half naked on the streetsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goal is to be the best person I can be by staying true to others. I will never lose my head or myself because of all the heartbreak. To this day I fight it and I plan on taking my humbleness the entire way. I’ve met people on the top and bottom and I must say that I had learned something from everybody including myself. These are personal but my professional goal is to become a fashion designer. I was blessed to have a second chance by being accepted into the Art Institute in Chicago so ten years from now I can see myself giving great opportunities to the misfortunate and all the people who deserve a chance to be someone.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Lately I’ve slowed down to focus on school. I shoot from time to time and I still workout but modeling is very spontaneous and you have to be patient so I’ve found a passion to only shoot for fashion and underwear modeling. If other opportunities came up I would still shoot but I love to shoot for a purpose.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience in modeling was to be chosen as top 20 out of 400 nationwide for an international modeling calendar. Yes that sounds typical but my number one experience was to look back and see how far I’ve come physically and mentally because a year ago I did have my worst experience that had led me into almost giving up. I had an entire portfolio done by a famous designer in Chicago and in the end I hadn’t received a single photo. I was talked up and built up to only crash and burn in the end. I knew it was coming but I found the strength to get up and keep going. I never gave up and it had only led to me being stronger today.

Model Max wearing jeansHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes, I fell in love. I had met a very talented makeup artist and bodypainter that has completely changed my life around. She’s my strength that keeps me going daily. She had seen how far I’ve come and she’s done the same but I will say that among everything I’ve gained in my entire career, love is the best thing that I had gotten from it. A blessing that had come after my decision of not joining the military.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes. The stereotype of only having to be good looking and confident. It is a major plus but it takes away from all the people that truly don’t believe in themselves.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Greens, rice, and chicken is the ultimate diet. Bread is a no no and it’s crazy to know that most of this world has some of the worst foods for you. Fast food is a complete lie and if it could be changed so that everyone knows and understands that your health is the most important thing for you. It gives you a better mood and energy as well. Also my sport of choice is running. It’s not something you should do but it’s something that you should want to do because running is a mental sport that gives you the time to reminisce about you, your life, your gains and your struggles. It’s truly saved me to keep going and better, yet I’m staying healthy while I’m growing physically and mentally.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a writer. I love to write ️poetry; drawing and art has been a huge part of my childhood.

Would you change anything about yourself?

None of us are perfect but I wouldn’t change a thing about me. I am who I am today because I don’t put myself first and I accept myself to who I am.

What is a trait that everyone should have

Is to never give up on someone. We all make mistakes and forgiveness is one of the best qualities to have. We aren’t perfect people but we can teach each other to be better by standing for someone.

Interview with Chrissy Neptune

Chrissy Neptune is a 25-year old model residing in Boulder, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Although I was both in Carlisle, PA, I was raised with my brother and sister in South Carolina by my -amazing- single mother. Any time…

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I wanted to model at a young age, and had the benefit of a supportive mother. When I was in my pre-teens, I was able to participate in workshops and seminars in order to educate myself on “the business.” I ended up taking a break to work on theatre and music, and stumbled back into modeling by a happenstance when I was 22. I had a friend mention an opportunity to model for a local clothing company named Luna Claire, and after that shoot, I knew I would continue the journey.

Chrissy Neptune wearing a blue miniskirtWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal personally, is to create magic and beauty. I think the process of taking ideas and turning them into reality is pure magic, and I believe beauty is essential to a joyous life. I should clarify that I believe beauty is anything that carries sensation and engages the soul in the moment, so it is all defined individually, and not confined to visuals.
Professionally, I would like to focus on music more. Singing will always be my favorite thing in the world. In five years, I hope to have a full album recorded and on Spotify.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

On average, I model once a week. This usually consists of photo-shoots for clothing catalogs and website promotions on a commercial level. I also love fashion and art photo-shoots, though those happen less frequently.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change anything about the modeling industry, I would make things more organized overall. Last-minute cancellations, tardiness, or having little-to-no communication with your creative director can be fatiguing. You always want to be on the same page in order to get the best shots possible.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Every morning I stretch for 20 minutes, and try to be sure to do body-resistance exercises for at least 15 minutes per day. Otherwise, I walk and bike everywhere I go, weather and distance permitting.

When it comes to my diet, I am a grazer. Throughout the day, I will munch on trail mixes, veggies and hummus, or graham crackers and peanut butter if I am feeling sweet. Lunch usually consists of a veggie sandwich, and dinner almost always has a meat, mixed veggies, and rice or potatoes. My weakness is cheese though, especially sharp cheddar.

I was a janitor for college dorms for 4 months. It was surprisingly fun, albeit quite disgusting at times.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would change my feet. They aren’t bad looking, they just hurt all the time because of heel-spurs. I would love to be able to run without a grimace on my face. Internally, I would like to remove my insecurities. This is a process that I actively work on.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

If I could have any superpower, I would have a green thumb. The ability to heal and grow plants instantly would be the best I think. I could grow food or flowers, and heal trees and crops. I have a hard time finding a “downside” with this ability!
