Cosmopolitan Bikini Bash 2017

Promoters at Cosmo’s 2015 party

Every year, Cosmopolitan Magazine organizes one of the most anticipated pool parties in the Riviera Maya. More often than not, the event takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel which is located between Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Besides having an awesome time, the goal of the event is to arrange as many bikini-clad girls as possible on the beach to spell out “COSMO” and take an aerial photos which will be published in the magazine.

I always have an amazing time at the Cosmopolitan Bikini Bash because the organizers always have some original games or activities planned. That, and the hundreds of pretty girls in bikini’s of course, duh. 🙂 The only party that topped them so far has been Corona Sunsets last year, which had a giant air mattress to jump onto from a platform which was a few stories high.

There doesn’t seem to be an official announcement yet, but rumor has it that Cosmo’s Bikini Bash 2017 will take place on the 26th of August. Note that you will need to be on the guest list in order to attend. This year, it seems the name of the event might be changed to Cosmo45.

Below is a video of the Bikini Bash in 2015. Unfortunately I missed the 2016 event since I was in San Francisco preparing for Burning Man.

If you didn’t make it on the Cosmo45 guest list in 2017, make sure to subscribe to this email list to be notified for the Cosmopolitan party in 2018!

Modeling agencies in Cancun and Playa

There are quite a few modeling agencies in Cancun and Playa del Carmen and more keep popping up, though usually the new ones do not last for very long. This should be a warning to models working with non-established agencies as they may disappear as quickly as they appeared. Should you have an issue with any agency not paying or not respecting laws concerning breaks and meals, please report it to the Mexican modeling association.

Volkswagen Catwalk

I was invited to participate in a presentation organized by Volkswagen at Hotel Nizuc. The concession holders were all invited, from all over Mexico. They had hired 6 models to form couples: executives, parents and a casual couple on a holiday at the beach. These represented the typical customers of the new Volkswagen being presented. The video was very well edited and I was glad when we revealed the cars exactly on cue. We had only had a few hours the day before to prepare. Today, even though we arrived two hours before the actual event, we couldn’t do any rehearsals since the Volkswagen invitees were already present.

As you can see in the photo they had a ramp and a rotating platform set-up, which according to word of mouth they brought all the way from Mexico City. However, some top level director didn’t like it and they tore everything down. No more rotating cars, they were just parked there and we pulled of the curtains. It’s always painful to see when someone puts in a lot of effort just to have the boss tear it down for whatever reason. I can’t imagine why anyone would prefer stationary cars over them driving up, being spun 360 degrees and driving off again. That would’ve been a lot more impressive.
