Interview with Korin Magers — from model to military to enthusiast

Korin Magers is a 23-year old model residing in Northridge, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born and raised in California but been all over. Redhead with very few freckles, I started modeling at 17 with runway then did some Playboy live tv events, and just recently fell in love with stills. I see it as “catching the perfect moment” I never really had to try hard to get the photos everyone was looking for, they just came out from within when I was on set or during a photo shoot. Shortly after, I was watching The Guardian starring Ashton Kutcher with friends and said I could do that. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy, but I took the army test and was shipped out less than a week later. Officialy 6 months later was a Petroleum Lab Specialist for the US ARMY and when I came back I continued my training from learning how to drive every vehicle in the army to inspecting them and training others. When I became reserved I continued on with my passion for modeling. I now am a licensed cosmetologist. I love to free climb and definitely an adrenaline junky.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Everyone always told me I would be a great model, in all honesty was looking for a little extra cash and found an ad for Playboy tv live, went in for an audition and made the cut. Nothing made me feel better that Playboy thought I looked hot in a bikini! It was inspiring and shortly after fell in love with the way all my photos came out.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals are to get married to my wonderful boyfriend and start a family within the next five years. Professionally, never to give up the dream of being a role model to those younger than me, showing that you can be beautiful and classy at the same time, and continue being a model and adding my journeys to my life story that I will one day tell my grand kids.

Korin Magers wearing a red thongHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model when I feel i’ts right and when I know it can be an inspiring experience.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

For the most part I have experienced most of the good sides to being a model; traveling, adventures and experiences unforgettable; but there was a time when I was told that I just wasn’t right, that I could be so much better if I lost 10 pounds but I would do. I looked at the freelance photographer and said I know what I am, who I am and how I look and gave him back his contract unsigned and told him I think you’re just not right. My motto is treat people how you want to be treated, no amount of money in the world can lower my standards of how I think and feel about myself.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was doing a photo shoot for an anime expo panel in the park. I was climbing up trees, running up and down the hills in heels and doing back flips off the monkey bars and out of nowhere I realized I had an audience following me from shoot to shoot. People started coming up to me asking me for pictures and for autographs. I had no clue what was going on, I thought it was a prank but it was till a few moments later a young girl say that I was her role model.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Nothing really, you just got to understand that in this business you will be mocked, made front of, misunderstood and loved all at the same time.

Korin Magers splashing hairDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Nutrition and exercise are extremely important. Working hard since I was little, being active and adventurous have always kept me fit and on my toes. As for nutrition I am not very strict who can say no to a double double every now and then.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Love dinosaurs but only cute ones. Most people call me gingy. That I am turning 23 this month and have experienced life more than most have and made decisions that most will never have to make in their whole life. I was in the military for 4 and a half years. I am now a veteran and a hairdresser. I ride motorcycles and If I died tomorrow will have known that I have fufilled my purpose in life.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Nope everything about me good or bad has gotten me to where I am today, including my stubbornness.

Have you ever been in a brawl? Please elaborate.

I came out of a gas station one day to find that some dude was on my motorcycle. When I asked him what he was doing he laughed and was compelled that it was a woman’s motorcycle. He said he needed to take a picture to remember this priceless day whatever that meant. I watched an episode on SOA son’s of anarchy where someone sat on the leader’s bike. He was asked to take a picture. He took a before then punched the man in the face and took an after. I did the same and said didn’t anyone ever teach not to sit on another woman’s bike as mad as he got there were others there to defend me in case something worse might of happened. I felt bad but at the same time he was a jerk and deserved it.
