Interview with Anndrea — Multiracial California Babe

Anndrea is a 25-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Anndrea, but you can call me Dre. I was raised in Mountain View, CA in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. My parents are my greatest role models; they are the most hard-working, supportive and loving parents a girl could have. I also have two amazing sisters and two handsome nephews. My family is my world and my motivation to succeed in life.

Attending UC Santa Barbara is where I fell in love with Southern California and I moved down to LA almost 2 years ago. I love to play soccer, go to yoga classes, and take my rescue dog, Daltry, out for walks on the strand with my boyfriend. I like to be crafty and paint or sew costume clothes. I also love to read, I’m currently studying for the GMAT to earn my MBA and pursue a career in public service, either in the nonprofit or political sector!

Anndrea face closeupWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was a teenager flipping through Teen Vogue, overwhelmingly the models featured where Caucasian, with the occasionally light-skinned African American girl. Being a racially mixed girl, I always wanted to see more “flavor.” After graduating from UCSB, I moved back to the bay area and found an incredible job working for a furniture designer in her art studio. But I always longed to move down to LA and give modeling a real try. I knew I didn’t want to look back and regret not trying it. So I packed all my stuff into my lil Honda Civic and drove to LA. I started shooting with photographers and then booking jobs with e-commerce sites.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

While I would love to still be a part of the modeling industry in five to ten years, a greater goal of mine is to be making a difference in the community. Day by day I try to be a kind and positive energy in this world. While all the small things count, over the next few years I want to develop my impact of compassion and service to our communities and to the greater good, for a better and brighter future together on this beautiful earth!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I mainly do fashion, ecommerce and runway modeling. Generally I shoot about 3 to 4 times a month for fashion companies, and pick up 2 to 3 gigs a month for promotional modeling. I was shooting 3 to 4 times a week DTLA for a wholesale site, but I let it go to focus on applying to business school.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

You can meet some great people and you can meet some terrible, fake people. But I’d rather focus on the positive. It’s great to meet people that are passionate about their art- their clothes, style, photos, and more. And to be a part of creating that beauty and vision is very special!

Anndrea wearing heels on a staircaseDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love to go running, I play soccer, practice yoga, and do lots of at home workouts in my backyard, lifting weights and doing other exercise routines. I love Women’s Health 5 minute workouts to add great new moves to mix up my routines.

I can eat a lot without putting on weight, but I still choose to eat healthy! Lots of fruit, salads, smoothies, and sandwiches. I prefer to get my protein from eggs, nuts, beans, and others, instead of eating meat; I try to restrict my meat-eating to 2 or 3 times a week, animal farming is terrible for the environment. I also choose not to buy and cook fish, because industrial farming is hazardous and depleting our ocean’s populations of fish; Although, I do like to go out for sushi on special occasions. While I don’t eat organic everything and I love my bacon, I try to be environmentally conscious of my food choices.

Nutrition and exercise is everything. If I don’t exercise I get depressed. If I don’t eat well I have less energy and motivation. Neither of those things are acceptable to me; it’s a necessity to make time to eat properly and exercise daily. It’s simple as walking the dog or taking the stairs; it’s as simple as drinking water instead of a soda. It doesn’t have to be complex. The small things count and add up before you know it.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I used to have dreadlocks! I did my dreadlocks myself and had them for five and a half years. After I moved down to LA I decided to cut off my dreads to have a more versatile look for modeling. I still miss them from time to time, but I’m glad I’m no longer stereotyped for having them.

Also, people always ask me what my nationality is, so here it goes: Spanish, Mexican, African American, Native American and Irish.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would be one of those people that had endless energy and only needed to sleep a few hours each night so I could be ultra productive.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

He’s my best friend. Tall, handsome, adventurous, fun and kind. My favorite person.

Rocken Cherry Sue wearing a bikiniWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Previous Experience through a training facility and the fact that I hated the camera but the more I did something where I was shy to do I ultimately gained so much knowledge and, was educated on the industry on how the process took place. The more collaboration with a significantly over a hand-full of photographers the great and comfortable I came out to be and fell in love with the camera and different looks I can pull off.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In a career and hobbies where I am happy and love doing what I love.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am currently pregnant and put my modeling on hold due to not sure if photographers would like to work with a model under the circumstance I am in. Modeling is my only source of income and would appreciate the collaboration whether if it is before, after or during. Although I am currently not modeling, I previously worked with photographers that consisted of MUA, Outdoors, Studios, Wardrobe change, and others. And there after, editing in order to make the final look, looking great to post up and update each other’s portfolio or simply add something new to our picture collection.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best would be the different areas I’ve traveled within California,. Different Cities and locations that I never knew that’s where photo shoots were taking place. Worst would be feeling a bit uncomfortable not able to bring an escort with me inside to a room where they would have to step outside and which It was my first time meet and greet.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Funny, Too many to claim but it is always something small where I can get along with my photographer and have a great collaboration with our shoot.

Rocken Cherry Sue corneredIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

From what I’ve came across everything so far has been professionally done right. I have not came across any misreadings.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not play any sports but I like to exercise when I have the chance and small hobbies are adventurous.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I love going to theater plays. They’re fun and it attracts my attention. It feels like a moving movie but live.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

No. What you see, is what you get. If interested we can always work something out.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I do!! I admit that I have a tremendous fear for clowns. I absolutely hate them!! My childhood local circus terrified me as a young child. I can’t sit and watch the movie “IT”: I can’t. Nor the fact that I see one on the street or some sort of event I cannot handle that. As old as I am I cannot get over this non-sense.

Interview with Crissty Santana – Mexican fashion model

Crissty Santana is a Mexican beauty from Cabos San Lucas, Mexico. Besides modeling she enjoys dancing, beach and sun.

Do you have a nickname or artist pseudonym? Who came up with it and how?

“Kitty” anybody who really knows me or is family would call me Kitty, when I was little and I say what my name was I said Crissty but with my little voice it would sound like Kitty 🙂

When and how did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

It was in New York during one of those girly trips with your girlfriends, walking with 2 big suitcases I managed to still walk stylish on my stilettos, I somehow impressed a modeling agent. That’s how it all began.

Crissty Santana - HeadshotWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five years?

My personal goal is to achieve happiness and be surrounded by people that I love and enjoy to be with. That could be a husband and kids but it could just as well mean being around my friends and family. Professionally I would like to some day – not too far in the future – host my own entertainment show for national TV.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Unfortunately we all have bad situations and I did at the beginning of my career. I wasn’t checking if photographers I worked with were legit before agreeing to a photo-shoot. I was young and unexperienced. During a shoot, the photographer started touching my hair and skin, then tried to untie my shirt. I had to stop the shoot and leave. It was very scary and all I could think of was “I didn’t sign up for this”.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Oh yeah, are you kidding me? Who hasn’t. So, I should probably not say this but whatever I’m human and we all have our embarrassing moments right? I was very sick with a cold for one of my shoots, and I really didn’t want to miss it never the least cancel on a very professional photographer and magazine editor so I went and pulled it off together but on our very sexy intense moment I had to sneeze and a very not sexy bugger came out and almost got it all over the photographer and his lens, yep, not kidding. So embarrassing! good thing they took it really funny and we even got more comfortable with each other and rocked the shoot! #neversneezeduringyourshoot

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?Crissty Santana in bikini

I love modeling, so maybe the answer is no. I really would love to see more curvaceous women in the runaway. I agree skinny tall girls DO look more edgy and designers need the perfect physique to showcase their creations, but I believe most women would like to vision themselves on them, I’m one of them.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat?

I exercise at least 5 days a week. I enjoy basketball and was never a girly girl when little, more of a tomboy. You would typically find me eating wraps, salads, sandwiches and favorite of all steak with A1 source, oh and tacos duh, I’m 100% Mexican.

Please tell us something most people don’t know about you.

I can’t sleep without socks. If I had no other options, I would wait till your sleep and I will steal yours if you have any, hehe.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise)?

I would probably like to be taller but I’m 5’6 for a reason and whatever the reason is, I’m fine with it 🙂
