Interview with Joey D — Model & Student

Joey D is a 35-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Indiana and lived with my family until 1997, when I moved to Chicago for college. I’ve lived here ever since. I enjoy working out and inspiring others to reach their health goals. I incorporate a psychological aspect to my training and advice. I believe in a holistic approach to complete health stemming from over 20 years in the gym and my MA in psychology. In my spare time I enjoy video games and reading. I run a couple websites, dance at events, and do other odd jobs to keep my life interesting.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I’ve been modeling off and on for 15 years. Not until 2014 did I start to focus on modeling. Since then, it’s been non-stop and I love it. I decided to focus on it since I was in graduate school and needed some extra income.

SONY DSCWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I’ve achieved so much in life that I’m at the point that everything is just icing on the cake. I never live to work and only believe in working to live so that I enjoy everything I do. If I’m still inspiring and helping people in some way for the rest of my life, I’ll be happy. There is no limit to the possibilities of what life can offer. I embrace every experience and look forward to each one.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I average about a shoot a month. I generally only do photo shoots focused on fitness and health modeling.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Every experience was awesome. There’s nothing I could classify as a worst experience. Since each one is different, it created a memory that will last forever.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes, I was shooting in TX and went with the photographer to pick up food after the shoot. The people at the restaurant recognized me. Then, we stopped at a drug store and the woman behind me bought my products for me for no reason other than she wanted to. It was so crazy and awesome. I was speechless.

Joey D lying on a bedDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not participate in any sports, but I eat like a bodybuilder. Bulking and cutting nutrition plans are my life. I’m constantly adjusting my food intake and tweaking things to create my body how I want it to look.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a classically trained singer. I’m actually working on getting a demo out in the future. Possibly on my YouTube channel or somewhere. I’ll keep you posted.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I regret nothing. Everything about me exists because of an experience I had. I love having lived my life and look forward to every future moment to see how it shapes my personality.

What is the longest you have gone without taking a bath?

I’ve gone 5 days without bathing. Instead of going on vacation, I stayed home and did nothing but played video games. It was amazing, but by the end I realized I really needed to shower and get out of the house. It made me appreciate human contact. haha!

Interview with Model Max — From nothing to something

Model Max is a 24-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

When I was four years old I was adopted from Russia because my parents were abusive and alcoholics. That was one of the best times of my life but it had led to one of the most heartbreaking goodbyes when I had decided to pursue my own choices and dreams of being a model. My family hadn’t agreed with my life and they hadn’t changed much because I had to watch my brother walk out of the door to live on the streets when he was 17. I was taught to always follow the rules and follow the family tree so for years I didn’t have a voice but once I realized how hard it was to have nothing I worked ten times harder to be somebody. I worked out day in and day out to lose weight and still I had felt that no one noticed, so I had an idea of becoming a model. Did I know what a model was or even did? No. But when I had stepped in front of the camera I had found myself. My own voice and my personality had come out. I felt as if that’s all I had and even have.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

It’s been a year and a half since I started to model but I started on Craigslist and I had called professional photography places to ask and get a better understanding of what it takes to be a model and I still always felt as if something was missing. I never got answers there but then I started to join online contests and networking with others on social media. I met some great people along the way and have gotten to understand people. I fell in love with finding myself and the more I did it I lost and gained many relationships. I found out who was there and who wasn’t there for me. It’s an industry that will truly mold you into who you are.

Model Max walking half naked on the streetsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goal is to be the best person I can be by staying true to others. I will never lose my head or myself because of all the heartbreak. To this day I fight it and I plan on taking my humbleness the entire way. I’ve met people on the top and bottom and I must say that I had learned something from everybody including myself. These are personal but my professional goal is to become a fashion designer. I was blessed to have a second chance by being accepted into the Art Institute in Chicago so ten years from now I can see myself giving great opportunities to the misfortunate and all the people who deserve a chance to be someone.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Lately I’ve slowed down to focus on school. I shoot from time to time and I still workout but modeling is very spontaneous and you have to be patient so I’ve found a passion to only shoot for fashion and underwear modeling. If other opportunities came up I would still shoot but I love to shoot for a purpose.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience in modeling was to be chosen as top 20 out of 400 nationwide for an international modeling calendar. Yes that sounds typical but my number one experience was to look back and see how far I’ve come physically and mentally because a year ago I did have my worst experience that had led me into almost giving up. I had an entire portfolio done by a famous designer in Chicago and in the end I hadn’t received a single photo. I was talked up and built up to only crash and burn in the end. I knew it was coming but I found the strength to get up and keep going. I never gave up and it had only led to me being stronger today.

Model Max wearing jeansHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Yes, I fell in love. I had met a very talented makeup artist and bodypainter that has completely changed my life around. She’s my strength that keeps me going daily. She had seen how far I’ve come and she’s done the same but I will say that among everything I’ve gained in my entire career, love is the best thing that I had gotten from it. A blessing that had come after my decision of not joining the military.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes. The stereotype of only having to be good looking and confident. It is a major plus but it takes away from all the people that truly don’t believe in themselves.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Greens, rice, and chicken is the ultimate diet. Bread is a no no and it’s crazy to know that most of this world has some of the worst foods for you. Fast food is a complete lie and if it could be changed so that everyone knows and understands that your health is the most important thing for you. It gives you a better mood and energy as well. Also my sport of choice is running. It’s not something you should do but it’s something that you should want to do because running is a mental sport that gives you the time to reminisce about you, your life, your gains and your struggles. It’s truly saved me to keep going and better, yet I’m staying healthy while I’m growing physically and mentally.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a writer. I love to write ️poetry; drawing and art has been a huge part of my childhood.

Would you change anything about yourself?

None of us are perfect but I wouldn’t change a thing about me. I am who I am today because I don’t put myself first and I accept myself to who I am.

What is a trait that everyone should have

Is to never give up on someone. We all make mistakes and forgiveness is one of the best qualities to have. We aren’t perfect people but we can teach each other to be better by standing for someone.

Interview with DeLauwn McCrimager

Dee DeLauwn McCrimager is a 25-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m from Buffalo, NY. I’m very close to my mom and I love my family, but not I’m a very family orientated person relating to some holidays and get-together. My interest in life consist on writing poetry because one-day, I’ll will be a great song writer for all the great singers. Also I love to think, just because inward meditation can be the best medicine.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I’m quoting drake “I started from the bottom but now I’m here”. But for me, I started in front of my bathroom door by taking pictures for practice. My mother was the photographer at the time by the way. And it definitely transcended from there on out. Working with great photographers and traveling city to city. “Man” What I say “God is great”.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goals in five to ten years is to become an entrepreneur and song writer. Just because modeling isn’t forever due to the fashion industry always wanting new faces.

DeLauwn McCrimager on top of a penthouseHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

As a freelance model who doesn’t have an agent right now, getting work can be difficult but once photographers see my portfolio, they become interested and everything else follows through. I mainly do photo-shoots at the moment but I wouldn’t mind doing runway for great fashion designers. The type of photo-shoots I always prefer is commercial, fashion, and editorial. And for a bonus, I’m the person bringing the clothes to the shoot because all my suits are tailored.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experiences from modeling is traveling. I been to NYC, Miami, LA, And Chicago. I also planned to go international as a model too. And my worst experience from modeling was my very first photo-shoot. Because it took forever to get my pictures back from the photographer. And to mention, I paid for the photo-shoot.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

My very first photo-shoot was a wreck. Not because I was a beginning since I did a lot of practice in the retrospect. But the issue was the photographer told me, his office was located in a center which has many studios. I’ll never forget traveling all over that place to find his office. But to come and find out, he insinuated everything to make it seem like he had an office there. I swear I was there for like 2 straight hours searching from top to bottom. And that center was huge but overall I still had a photo-shoot but not there.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Nothing because the modeling industry changes all the time. Most models say the industry is too critical and meticulous. But I’m very strong-minded from my upbringing.

DeLauwn McCrimager modeling a tuxedoDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t play any sport, and I work out about like 3 to 4 times a week. My eating regime is pretty consistent, I usually eat chef salads or vegetables if I need to diet. I still eat my meats but I break it down in portions. And having a great metabolism does help too. Because being a model who loves to eat, I tend to binge sporadically.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

That I’m a stay to myself type of person. Not because I’m close-minded, I’m just very complex and mysterious to figure out. Which makes me intriguing and not boring.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I love being a perfectionist but I tend to over analyze some situations when it’s not necessary. So if I can alter that just a little, I’ll be alright.

What features do you look for in a partner?

Someone who’s loyal to me and passionate about their aspirations in life. You have to be caring and supportive about the love we share for one another. One last thing, they have to be beautiful inward and outward.

Lauren Rebecca Roth is a 20-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois. Currently in her senior year studying Psychology and English she has a background in musical theatre and is very comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve had a vast array of experiences, many are too long to simply type out, but my best has been working with my mentor, Chris Neumer. We work together as much as possible as we’re always talking on the phone of fun cool shoots we can do together.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had a lot of funny experiences, most too long to type out. Not really anything embarrassing. I try to be my best while on set. I’m happy with where the industry is and where it is going, towards health rather than just being thin.

Not many people know I love doing charity work. I wanted to go to Thailand for mission work but wanted to finish my undergrad first.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Not really. I’m pretty content with the way I look now, if anything I’d make myself a few inches taller.
