Interview with Brittany M – Model

Brittany M is a 22-year old model residing in La Vista, Nebraska.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am a 22-year old normal blue haired, dog-mom born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. In my free time I like to go to shows and support local art, usually music, have a love for reptiles, my family and I have been breeding and rescuing snakes since I was 8 years old. I do have a full time job as well as modeling, and work with the elderly as a CNA. Not the most glamourous, but very rewarding.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I kind of stumbled into the modeling industry actually, as I had a friend who liked to have someone go with her to make sure she stayed safe, and the photographer just liked my look and wanted to do a test shoot. We set up a time and the photos came out great! He told me I had a natural talent and I should try to pursue something and helped me get started; that was just over two years ago now.

Brittany M showing her back tattoosWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals is just honestly to be happy in whatever I do. My professional modeling goals, I would absolutely love to travel -with my dog- and see the world and work with new people! Be in photography workshops, continue to be published, walk and showcase fashion shows. Mainly just create art! I don’t want to stop creating art!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

How often I have shoots varies honestly. Sometimes I have several a week, other times only a few a month. Just depends on how often amazing concepts pop up. My look is very versatile so I can do pretty much any look: Fashion, Boudoir, Glam, Gothic, etc. Occasionally I walk in shows, and they are just so wonderful to have all the local talent come together.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My worst experience was probably with a photographer trying to weasel his way into forcing his models to do pornographic photos. Literally shoving my face, forcefully, into another model’s private area even though we were both saying no. However, that model has become one of my best friends, but also have had so many great experiences, you really get to know people when you work with them several times. Mostly good experiences!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Several embarrassing things can happen when you are modeling. When holding poses, you can easily fall on your face, My shoots however, everyone is laughing pretty much all the time. I am pretty weird, when testing lights I make some of the most hilarious faces and poses; a lot of joking around. But it’s gotten pretty normal for me and not so extraordinary.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The main thing I would like to change is all the hate, since a lot of the girls are straight up mean to each other, just likephotographers too. I know so many girls who break down all the time with how they are treated, it breaks my heart. Also, That everyone realized we make a living off this. Photographer pay your model. Citizens pay your photographers. What they are worth, because we are worth every penny!

Brittany M modeling yellow jeansDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I honestly don’t do anything to crazy. I will run and go on walks with my dog, crunches here and there. I just try to eat food that’s not horrible for you, and drink lots of water, and no pop. Avoid super greasy and fatty things. That sort of thing.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Anybody that knows me, knows that I am actually super shy. However, everyone seems to think I am not before they get to know me, because I do tend to speak my mind.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I rather like the way I am usually. I mean, sometimes I wish I didn’t have any acne -but don’t we all- Other times I wish I have a slightly larger cup size, so that clothes fit better. But overall I love myself.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

This has actually happened more than once! Why? Because I didn’t want to do my laundry! I just free balled it and avoided jeans. Seriously guys, It’s actually really comfortable! But other times, It’s very nice to have your underwear on. Really depends on the clothes you are wearing for the day. You should at least try it once.

Interview with Deven — SAG-AFTRA Actress, Rock Singer, Model

Deven is a 28-year old model residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Greetings, and it’s a pleasure to have you take an interest in my work as well as this blog. I am Michigan-made and proud, having lived on both sides of the state. I have a Bachelors Degree in Theatre and took my passion overseas where I studied Drama in London, and growing up on the stage put a curse on the world for me, it’s the only place I really feel like I am home, although it definitely helped with my wonderful relationship with the camera and how I express myself.

When I moved to Detroit, I became a full-time artist; shooting films and commercials, modeling for local clothing companies and magazines, as well as developing two very amazing rock bands. I also grew up in a family of musicians, so music and singing are also huge parts of my life; and aside from the arts, I have many hobbies, including fitness training, pole dancing, yoga, dance, cooking, astronomy, and traveling… not forgetting my family and adorable cats.

Deven under blue lightWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I started modeling in my late teens but never felt comfortable branching out until I started acting professionally. I never saw myself as a model, just a young girl who liked dressing up and taking photos. When I started getting exposure from film, I knew I had to set my standards higher for myself which meant branch out in different areas of art, which included modeling. Head shots were crucial so on top of a headshot session, I would have a modeling session. Then I got involved with doing live runway shows and print work in Detroit which was an incredible experience.

My inner tigress came out during the live shows, I felt like I was thriving; in my recent shoots, I have been known to be aggressive, raw, and let’s say… unconventional, depending on what type of shoot, of course. I prefer going places models usually don’t go, because I have the advantage of extensive acting experience on camera and on stage, and as such my passion drives my body wherever it happens to go in the shoot. Now, I am taking my career to a whole different, higher level of commitment, and finally believe I can make my mark as an artist. Modeling is a huge part of helping me love and respect myself, and to help aspire to be the best I can be.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professional goals are simple: win an Oscar, win a Grammy, and create art with incredible people around the world, which will be a lot of work, but I am one to reach instead of wonder. I hope to one day be able to travel all over the world and connect with people from all walks of life, maybe even raise a family and live in a different place… I can see myself touring in a few years, filming overseas and taking my cats wherever I go. Most importantly, I want to see myself happier and healthier than ever.

Wherever I will be, I hope it is surrounded by good food, good company, and good beer. I love craft beer, always loved the idea of running a theatre or brewery down the road and I can get away with running the show. So, nothing too big.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I am a working actress, which is my primary career, and I do a lot of print shoots that are more Gothic or alternative fashion; then I got into doing more Erotic, Fetish, and BDSM shows and walk the catwalk, flog the models, and others. Lingerie and Chains soon became some favorite things to wear. I took a break from modeling as I went through a transition in my life and am now back and ready to rock, and I have a promo video in production which should be ready by Spring. I was also just recently published with over 20 prints, and have more in the mix, and I am always in search of more gigs and hope to make modeling another career.

Deven toplessPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I haven’t really had a bad experience, I learned from other models to research who you are working with and always be in communication with the photographer. So, I’ve never been in a bind, however, the most interesting shoot I did was in town, and I never met the guy personally. I loved his style, and we wanted to meet up and talk, where he told me to just bring a bunch of different clothes and we would wing it. When I got to his studio, I took a look at his artwork and immediately knew the clothes I brought would be useless. So, thankfully I had pasties, I put on a Mexican wrestling mask, and we ended up shooting for almost 8 hours!

It was an awkward beginning but as we worked, we developed a great friendship; it was intense and emotional, and crazy and wild. He is still a dear friend of mine. My best experience so far has been recent, as I just had my first publication of being a Cover Model for a magazine, as well as having over 10 solo shots and 10 shots with a lovely young woman. It was an honor to have been selected, and I can’t wait to get published again. Fingers crossed!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Probably, however I have no shame and prefer the strange, so what may seem normal to me, may be strange for others. I guess not every gig will ask a model to flog the other models at the end of a fashion show, and dance in nothing but leather straps; before the show, I was lucky enough to have a fellow model tell me I had toilet paper stuck on the bottom of my boot, so she saved me from some embarrassment.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes. However, I think the industry is evolving in a positive direction, at least how the world views models. The expectations are more realistic and healthy, models are different sizes and shapes, which are more relatable to the public eye. Designers are growing bold, and there are many more models and designers coming into their own thanks for social media. I am looking forward to seeing where the industry goes.

Deven fully naked with tapeDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I am a gym monkey, I am in at least 5 days a week, rotating cardio, swimming, and weightlifting. I also pole dance and study yoga. Diet and nutrition are very important to maintain the type of physique I identify with, although most of my young adult life, I was a horrible eater and always forgot to eat or starve myself a week before a shoot. The weight would come off but come back on just as fast. That would cycle into lowering self-confidence, and fearing the gym.

Plus, I am a musician and we had a lot of shows, and a lot of drinking to do. I’d see myself in pictures as skinny, and not in a good way, so I decided instead of getting frustrated with myself, I took action to develop healthy habits instead of grandiose goals. Goals sounds sexier, but habits are consistent, as with eating healthy, I have energy and optimism to work out, which helps my overall mentality and perception on life. Go eat some colorful food, drink a lot of water, get some good sleep, and smile.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am hyper-extended in my arms and legs, which makes horror shoots extra fun, which means I can spin my arms around in different ways and gross out the manliest of men.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I have always had an insecurity towards my nose, and tried to distract from it by having bangs for 8 years. Since I grew my bangs out, I have had more compliments on my nose and face than ever before. I found my nose irritating because it would cast a shadow in photos, and utter nonsense that I eventually realized there was no point in criticizing. I took to heart what friends said: to just embrace myself, nose and all.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Beer and cheese, or beer cheese, or pasta with cheese… I have an unhealthy obsession with it. Life is too short not to indulge every once in a while. In fact, it’s healthy to treat yourself in moderation. If I gave up cheese forever, I would die, or just be very sad.

Interview with Cyn Vicious — Tattoo model and Full time mom of four

Cyn Vicious is a 25-year old model residing in Methuen, Massachusetts.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am from Methuen, MA., and currently raising a family of four with my Tattoo Artist Husband Jake Parrington. I have two daughters Jazmyn and Morghyn, and two sons Jakekub and Maddox. I’m happy taking the kids out to dinner, the movies or to the Demolition derby; if I do have time to myself I love to take yoga and pole classes, and also just went skydiving recently and can’t wait to go again. I’m an Esthetician, Makeup Artist, Dancer, and of course model occasionally.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My mom was actually the one that got me into modeling: when I was younger I took different training courses and was with an agency, but I hated it, as I thought the poses were boring, and the people were too. In High School, a friend told me he wanted me to be one of his models and I was aprehensive, since I hated photos being taken of me up until then, but I loved it! It was fun feeling creative and getting the almost immediate reward of seeing the photos afterwards.

Cyn Vicious topless with tattoosWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My short list of photograpers and designers I hope to collaborate with as soon as possible! Photographers including Radiant Inc, Laura Dark, Keith Selle, Sonja Lux, Rev Vegas, Winterwolf, Lew Mew, Tiffany Ann; Designers including Dawn Matrix, Ashley Rose, Couture Rubenesque Latex, I’m forgetting so many right now, but I’m trying to keep this short, and these are who I’m currently drooling over. My goal for 2016 is very general but also very well planned: I have a list I have been compiling full of hundreds of magazines and their submission requirements. I hope to submit my butt off to as many as possible this year.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I do have a very limited time allotted for modeling, but I try to sneak in as much time as possible because it makes me happy. I do mostly photo shoots but I’m open to all styles, because when working with a photographer, you are a collaborative team. I have a list of different concepts and things I hope to create and when I offer one of those to a photographer, they take them and add on their creative perspective. I usually do my own makeup and styling and have been designing the things I wear for the shoots that are very important to me. I’m not sure how to classify all the things I have made into one category, as the styles I love to look at would be more gothic in nature, particularly gothic lolita and I also love anything that seems steampunk influenced, and wherever the victorian era is incorporated, I am fascinated. My personal style is very different, I’m very minimalistic and my look is more bohemian. Here are a few of my portfolios: ModelMayhem.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Worst experience would have to be SNC Photography. He’s a creep that promised me 100 an hour for three hours, made me pick him up after driving two hours out to him, put me in extreme danger, and then had me drop him off. He gave me only two photos he took on a cell phone and never anything from the actual shoot. Best experience hands down was at the very beginning of my modeling career. My very good friend Ron Bork flew me out to Florida and we shot 3 sets a day for a week. It is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Cyn Vicious face closeupHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’m just saying some body painters get really weird.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t have a gym membership, but with four kids I wouldn’t have time for one, so I incorporate “workouts” into my everyday routine. I eat right and provide healthy homecooked meals to my kids because I want their bodies as happy as possible, but I also know the importance of knowing when to treat yourself. Pizza and ice cream are always going to be a part of my diet.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

My nipples are a little surprising because they are tattooed entirely over to look like natural hearts.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I suppose everyone has flaws they find within their body, but I find it really important to love yourself just the way you are. I’m not a barbie doll, and I’m not looking to trade in my parts for plastic just yet.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

My husband, and father to my children is Jake Parrington. He is the incredible Award Winning Tattoo Artist, out of the Massachusetts area, responsible for the work I’m very proud to have adorning my body. We travel all around the country together attending tattoo conventions. Check out his work on Instagram @Tattoosbyjake
