Interview with Brooke Erin — Astonishingly interesting

Brooke Erin is a 22-year old model residing in Fort Myers, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Brooke Erin, I’m 22 years old and I am a model currently new to South Florida! With stretched ears, tattoos, and “resting-bitch-face” eyebrows my looks are as fierce as my brain! Born alongside a twin brother in Western Massachusetts I love sports and video games as much as I love Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee no matter what the time of year! I graduated from high school about a year and a half early and went on to Cosmetology school. I am currently working on honing my make up artistry skills, as well as figuring out exactly what I want to do when I grow up!

Brooke Erin wearing a corsetteWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I got involved in modeling a little over six years ago when I attended a photo shoot with a friend of mine to do her make up and ended up spending a lot of the time in front of the camera myself, I enjoyed the fact that I could take ideas and concepts I had in my mind for make up so much further when being able to be the subject of a photo that I just kinda hopped on Facebook and found some photographers that I liked! After my first real photo shoot and quite
a bit of direction with Joe Harary photography I absolutely fell in love with every single part of being able to model and so here we are today!

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

As of right now I am involved with so many projects and activities it’s hard to narrow down just a couple of goals that I have. Being new to South Florida I really want to find some places that I can volunteer with animals or some kind of social work with underprivileged children. I think I would really just like to continue to learn and create and further my education perhaps with a degree in psychology, continuing to appear in ads, magazines and catwalks for sure! And I would most definitely like to get another cover or two or a hundred… hahaha.

Brooke Erin showing her tattoosHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I primarily walk runway and shoot in studio; my main focuses are glamour, pinup, and fine art, however I have some interesting “fantasy” projects that I would really like to get going and get creating on! I try to shoot at least once a week and I enjoy walking in runway shows a few times a month as well when I can. Although it really depends on my location and how many photographers I have on my team to work with!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I can honestly say that I have had no bad experiences as a model, but that’s probably because I always do my homework on the people I’m about to work with. I always check references, portfolios, websites, social media outlets, and reviews as well as speaking with the photographer once or twice on the phone before the initial shoot if we haven’t met before. Between all of that and being a generally good judge of character I’ve never had any problems and I strongly urge all models to make sure that they do their research as well in order to stay out of any unnecessarily sticky situations.

The best experience I’ve had shooting by far is definitely this Christmas themed photo shoot I did with Hellcat a go go studios, a team of hair, makeup artists, and people to throw things. As well as my partner in crime, my best friend Haley Moriah not only was it a great day filled with fun, laughs, good people and great photos but at the end of it we are all lucky enough to score a future and a cover I’m so proud of us!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’m not exactly sure how funny this is but it is pretty embarrassing. every time I shoot in an abandoned building I always end up falling through the floor somewhere, it’s just really bad luck I suppose.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the amount of GWC’s -guys with cameras- and the way things with scam artists are dealt with… Can you tell I grew up in a house full of boys? Haha

Brooke Erin in a christmas suitDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I no longer practice any sports although I did used to play the keeper position for my high school lacrosse and hockey teams -back on my glory days- My eating is pretty healthy: high protein, low to no fat, gluten, nut and dairy free, unless you put some sort of sugar or monster in front of me in which case it will be done pretty quickly. However I do go to the gym every day and I make it a goal in my daily life to eat better and keep exercising in hopes that one day it will help me overcome my Crohn’s disease.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a pretty open book, I guess an interesting fact about me would be that I’m 22 and I still carry a crimson red blanket with me everywhere I go… yes, even to photoshoots. I have a ton of blankets…

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’m probably going to get shit for this but I would totally and completely get fake breasts given the choice. I went through a dramatic weight loss this last year, and the only thing I haven’t gotten back in my journey to gain some weight is my boobs. I miss my boobs. A lot.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

I wish I could teleport like in jumper, that would be so cool, just getting to wake up one day and decide you wanna have lunch on the other side of the world and poof! there you are sipping some tea in fucking France! then lunch back in Boston or something, and major plus, I could shoot anywhere I wanted, whenever I wanted. Like if a photographer in Germany or Mexico wanted to shoot right now I could respond with “I’m based in Florida although it doesn’t even matter if it’s an island across the world, I’ll be there” like how cool would that be?

Interview with Jamie Lavender — “Just For Fun” Model

Jamie Lavender is a 21-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey y’all I’m Jamie Lavender! I currently reside in Los Angeles, California, but I grew up in Austin Texas. I work in real estate and modeling is something I’ve been doing as a hobby here and there for about 5 years.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Growing up, I didn’t have much interest in the modeling industry. I was more geared towards the fashion design; I’ve always been very creative. When I was 16, however, I walked into a well known, high end hair salon and the manager dropped her jaw at my leggy, thin, 5’10” tall figure and begged me to be in a runway show. It was unexpected, but I accepted and had a blast! Plus, I got a free makeover! From then on, I sought out more modeling opportunities.

Jamie Lavender face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally, I’m really enjoying what I do right now, managing luxury properties for event and vacation rentals. I guess in the next 5 years, I hope my company will be much more well known and successful.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I only model as a hobby and only half of the shoots I do are paid, so I don’t model very much. I do a photo shoot once a month or every other month. I do mostly lingerie and pinup, fine art and tasteful nude, swimwear, and casual fashion. I don’t do XXX or erotic shoots.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had modeling was an all expense paid 3 day trip to Miami for a lovely beach shoot. It was tons of fun and who doesn’t love a paid vacation!? I also got to keep both of the bikinis I wore for the shoot which were $300 each. Too cool!

The worst experience I’ve had…hmmm well I’ve had many, so I’ll sum it up with two words: unprofessional and scam! There’s a big difference between a photographer and a guy with a camera. Also, paid or non-paid, I really hate when I waste my time just to be used in some type of scheme. It’s hurtful and degrading.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I auditioned for America’s Next Top Model one year and was rejected because I’m “too big to be a regular model and too small to be a plus size model” … I was shocked. Oh well!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think photographers should have to have licenses. I think it would cut out the unprofessionalism and scams.

Jamie Lavender showing her bellyDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love hot yoga and pilates! I work out 3 to 5 times a week. I try to watch what I eat, but I’m definitely not one of those calorie counting models. I definitely indulge. Life is short!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

In 2011, I dropped everything back home in Austin Texas and moved to LA by myself on a one-way ticket with $500 and no plan at all! It was the most difficult, yet best decision I’ve ever made!

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wish I could have a flat stomach and not gain weight so easily, but I do love my curves. I get so many compliments on my round booty! And now that I’ve had a boob job, I feel extra confident and sexy!

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

Definitely the ability to fly! I’d never have to worry about LA traffic or expensive plane tickets again!

Interview with Lauren DeBoer

Lauren DeBoer is a 23-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in wintery Ohio back in the early 90’s to a most wonderful family where I am now smack dab in the middle of 5 siblings. Living in the concrete jungle which we call L.A these days.

I am an artist by nature. I have a hard time keeping my feet on the ground. I would much rather be reading, shooting, modeling, writing, drawing, painting…creating, creating, creating!!
But, I actually majored in French in college. Language has always been a passion of mine- it goes along with the good ol’ wanderlust of mine.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My family’s good friend is a photographer, and would routinely take me out in the cold Ohio winter to photograph my little 5 year old self, at a time when I had skin exactly the color of snow. I guess you can say I started off as a fine art model. I grew up modeling, eventually came to have a passion for photography, and the two merged for me.

Lauren DeBoer face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Travel, travel, travel! I see modeling and photography as a path that will allow me to do this. To meet as many people as possible, and to gain inspiration from doing so. I would love to collaborate with people with all different cultures for modeling and photography to really create some out of the box work.

In five years…I see myself living abroad, hopefully on an assignment for Nat Geo… and doing modeling in the respective country for fine arts and funky fashion.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I typically shoot once a week or once every two weeks. That is, with another photographer. I do self-portraiture as self-expression and therapy on the daily. I typically do fashion and fine art modeling, but would love to delve into commercial.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have had too many good ones to point them out. I would say my best experiences in modeling have been meeting amazing, inspiring photographers, out of which many are now some of my best friends!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was doing a shoot in a small motel room, which eventually turned into a party. We weren’t done shooting, so we put everyone in the bathroom while we were finishing. As there are 15 people crammed in a bathroom and I’m sitting on the bed in a corset top, a cop knocks on the door. Apparently someone saw the strobes going off and told the cops “I think there’s a murder going on in there”. I didn’t know strobes are equal to murder, but better safe than sorry, I guess.

Lauren DeBoer wearing a summer dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Ah! Of course, although my answer will be pretty unique: I would change the unrealistic expectations at times. And being in the cold for hours in a skirt. That sucks.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love to tango dance and now I’m on the healthy Cali diet kick. Lots of kale and avocados. How I eat is very important to me; I try to stick to all organic. It seriously affects how I feel, mentally and physically.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I like leaving notes on trains and in alleys to random people.

Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?

I wish I wasn’t so damn stubborn! But, let’s just call it passionate.

What is the longest you have gone without taking a bath?

I was staying in Slab City, CA for a while, with no plumping, no electricity and off the grid community in the middle of the desert. So, it was probably more than a week and half. Not sure if bathing in the river counts, or not. But damn if it does, that was the most peaceful bath I’ve ever had!
