Interview with Lauren Marx — Mother, model, singer, actress

Lauren Marx is a 24-year old model residing in Boston, Massachusetts.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Lauren Marx, I was born and raised between Leominster, Massachusetts and upstate New York. I am a full time mother, model, singer, actress, and apparently juggler now that I have a moment to slow down, catch my breath and do this interview. I am a mother of one amazing little boy named Charlie and when I’m not working my focus begins and ends with my family. I’m a sucker for the simpler things in life, with an equally matched love for travel, arts, fashion, the outdoors, and success. I am a Spanish, German, Black Irish Taurus and I will do whatever it takes to have my cake and eat it too.

Lauren Marx modeling black underwearWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was 18 years old I walked into a Honey Dew Donuts in Worcester, Massachusetts and was stopped by a woman named Donna Sobieski. She was an agent with New York Model Management, she was both lovely and sweet. She complimented me on my shoes and my smile, and she signed me on the spot.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally? The sky is the limit. My laundry list of professional goals has no end, but when it comes to life; in the next five to ten years all I can hope is to be as happy and blessed as I am in this very moment.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

On a typical work week I’ll likely have 2 to 3 shoots, whether they be commercial based, editorial, glamour, or film, the one consistent thing about my job is that no matter what I do, I always have fun.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience with my job, hmm. Let’s see… How could I possibly decide? I would have to say that being in Vogue Italia definitely makes the list, getting to sing on stage with rock legends from James Brown Band and Bob Marley Trio, shooting for WAAF, starring in From Ashes To New’s hit music video or getting to be in Shaggy and Pitbull’s music video. Frankly I have had so many experiences to be thankful for, I couldn’t possibly choose just one.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

All. The. Time. I would have to say my best, funniest, most embarrassing, and out of the ordinary moments are more ordinary for me than I would like to admit. Also, I’m a dinosaur without coffee… Which is quite literally all of the above.

Lauren Marx face closeupIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change one thing about the modeling industry it would be the negative misconceptions people make about the models in it. We’re not dumb, drug induced, mindless fembots and we’re certainly not bullet proof. People should be kinder to one another, although I suppose that means that what I would change doesn’t necessarily apply to the industry alone, it applies to the world.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Once upon a time playing sports was my life, but now that I’m a bit older and a lot busier I would say solid nutrition comes before all else for me, although a little yoga and gym time never hurts to throw into the mix to keep everything firm and on the up and up.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a wealth of useless information, a nerd to my core, and a diehard Trekky; live long and prosper.

Would you change anything about yourself?

My inability to do accurate mental math. That or my arms, check back with me in a week.

What features do you look for in a partner?

Kind eyes, sincere smile, strong hands, big socks.

Interview with Jennifer Lynn — “The Skinny Girl Model”

Jennifer Lynn is a 25-year old model residing in New York, New York.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! My name is Jennifer Lynn. I grew up in Doylestown, PA. It’s a cute little town in Bucks County. I have an amazing family. My mom, dad, two brothers, sister-in-law, and my two little nephews who I love all to death! I am a big family person, we all get together on the weekends and party! In the winter time it’s football, fires in the fireplace, and pool table games in the rec room. In the summer it’s baseball, grilling and swimming pool fun! I love both my nephews, Jamison is just a baby but Sean is my crazy, fun little 3 year old buddy. My nephews are the ones I cherish the most when I’m not modeling or doing crazy tattoo adventures.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I love the camera, always have. When I was little and my dad would break out the dinosaur size video camera, I had to be the star of the show. I also remember getting my very own camera when I was younger and taking selfies when I was 7! When I turned 14 I begged my mom to let me go to Barbizon School of Modeling. When I was 18, that’s when I got my first tattoo and figured why not do both hobbies in one! I would surf the internet and see these beautiful tattooed models and right away appreciate their beauty. I think everyone is beautiful in their own way and that’s how I wanted to be seen.

Jennifer Lynn wearing a black lingerieWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I have a couple goals I need to meet. With all my goals I always make sure to be happy and healthy. I want to travel the world! Professional goals would be to meet many people in the industry as well as working with them.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

My workload is steady right now. I mainly do photoshoots including lingerie, glamour, fashion and nude. I am just getting into traveling and doing tours in other cities and states. I have done TV and video and about to enter the world of feature films!!! I am very excited about that!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have had many experiences during my time as a tattooed model. When I started I didn’t understand the importance of tattoo placement on your body. I also didn’t know how important it was to have good art work on your body as well. When I would get tattoos when I was younger I didn’t pay attention to any of that stuff and now I regret it. I want to be the best that there is. I want the quality of my tattoos to be the same quality as the photos I produce.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I haven’t had too many embarrassing moments as of yet. I am very awkward in heels so I avoid them at all costs, if I wore them more often it would make for some embarrassing moments.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change anything about the modeling industry it would have to be the misconception that models have a glamorous lifestyle. Let me tell you it’s not all lingerie and sunshine.

Jennifer Lynn topless under a violet lightDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Sports… No way! I do like a good game of badminton in the summer time though. I love to eat! I am a skinny girl and I can eat a lot! I eat very well. I’m in love with vegetables and eating organically. I stopped eating fast food probably about 5 years ago and soda about 7 years ago. I try to stay away from red meat sometimes, but I love a good juicy burger! I don’t exercise, I should… but I don’t. I don’t have any diet tips the skinniness just runs in my family.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

There is not much no one knows about me. I have a Q&A that I do on my youtube channel and I am very honest with my fans. Check it out…

Would you change anything about yourself?

Yes, physically I would change my spine!! I mention this to my followers and fans every once in a while. I have scoliosis! It’s terrible I need surgery. It’s getting to the point where it is now affecting my posing in pictures. My back does not arch like most models because of the curvature and I’m in a lot of pain after a photoshoot.

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

haha! This may be weird to some girls but I just recently took my first pee outside!! Is that too much…? haha! I was taking a road trip out west to California and there were no bathroom stops. I was around Arizona and I pee’d in the desert next to a huge cactus!!

Interview with Amanda Whipple — Professional Dancer

Amanda Whipple is a 24-year old model residing in San Francisco, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m a Bay Area, California Native dancing my way through this crazy thing called life. Being an artist has been a struggle, but I consider it a blessing to follow my passion. When I started dancing, I was just 3 years old, and I have never wanted to stop. After getting my BA in Dance, I started focusing on teaching, choreographing and performing.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Opportunities to model found me through my qualities as a dancer. Photographers were intrigued with working specifically with a trained ballerina. Majority of my shoots and videos are all dance related, so I love the fact that I can fuse dancing and modeling together.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

This past year has really brought me to a place in my life, where everything is right where it needs to be, and I’m so grateful. I just finished filming a new show airing this Fall and I stay busy teaching and modeling. In the next couple years, I want to travel worldwide to teach and perform. Ultimately, I plan on starting my own company and a studio that provides education in all forms of dance and health.

Amanda Whipple standing like a ballet dancer at a pierHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

90% of my modeling has something to do with movement. I choose projects based on their relevance to dance. I’m definitely not limited to dance projects, and I love shooting for events that benefit charitable causes. If I’m approached with an amazing theme or idea I’m all for it! I prefer performance jobs, but I take on pretty much anything that comes my way, either print, runway, commercials, films, and more.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

So far, I’ve only had positive experiences when it comes to modeling. I’m pretty selective when it comes to who I’m working with, so I think that has a lot to do with it.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

There’s been a few instances during a shoot, when a pedestrian walks up and asks to take a picture with you, or is interested in where they can see the photos and video. It gives you that boost of confidence as a model, that you’re actually saying something through your work.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I’m in the studio dancing abut 5 days a week. The other 2 days I’m at the gym either strength training or taking a yoga class. As most people know, nutrition is key to a dancer’s career. To me, it’s not about how many pounds you weigh, it’s about how you feel. I’m a Vegetarian, so I’m always aware of what I’m feeding my body. I typically eat veggies, fruits, and fish for protein. Oh yeah, and coffee, lots of it.

Amanda Whipple face closeup lips with saltPlease share something people don’t know about you.

I used to choreograph and write songs when I was little. I would teach the neighbor kids and then set up a talent show for the whole complex to watch us perform.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Everyone has their flaws, and yes I’ve had thoughts about what I would change about myself. I’ve always wanted to be taller, but at the same time I love the fact that I’m petite. I am who I am, and at the end of the day I wouldn’t change a thing.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

Teleporting! In my busy and hectic life, I would love to avoid traffic in any way possible, not to mention, you could literally travel anywhere, anytime…freakin’ awesome.

Interview with Chanel Marie Koi — Beautiful Savage

Chanel Marie Koi is a 20-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Good vibes only here. I am a free spirit that knows exactly who she is and what she stands for. Very spiritual and kind. Positive and secure in the woman I’ve become. Mentally penetrating and idealistic. Trusting of myself and my emotions. Grateful and an obstinate over-analyzer; happy hearted and peaceful; an ironically gregarious introvert that is greatly appreciative of her restorative solitude. Occasionally aloof yet approachable.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

In the short duration of my relatively fresh career, I have already graced the runways of LA Fashion week in addition to several runway events, presented with a feature for Sebastion Professional for the What’s Next Awards, many music videos as leading lady, featured as Gamer Girl of the Month for Gamersbliss and cover girl for Sxy Mag, been given a racy role in my first feature film “Hitchhiker Massacre”, in 2014, and supporting roles in other films as well as a role in MTV’s True Life as myself. I frequently center myself with meditation and free writing to further hone in on my innermost emotions that contribute to my creative process when creating music and finding my characters in film.

Chanel Marie Koi face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years from now, I will still be wild and free. Still dreaming, smiling, and praying; passionate and loving every second of my life. Creating beautiful things for people, promoting peace and love, in addition to continuing to give hugs to strangers. Still doing the things that make me feel alive and trusting my journey even when I do not understand it. No longer chasing what my mind wants and rather chasing what my soul needs.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I frequently center myself with meditation and free writing to further hone in on my innermost emotions that contribute to my creative process when creating music and finding my characters in film. My musical interests and influences are generally categorized as avant-garde electronic dance music, jazz fusion, ambient, glitch, and alternative. The most profound passions and sought out desires of my heart would be forms of artistic expression that are aesthetically pleasing visually and equally gratifying auditorily. As an intermediate photographer, I take great pleasure in capturing the art of existence which would emphasize my appreciation for life and humanity. My general focal points would include but never limited to intimate portraits, nature, macro, and scenic photography. Acknowledging my literary works, I have fully developed a mystery and thriller fiction novel entitled “Six Years: Mademoiselle Gweniveire” in which publication is pending. She intends to follow up with a second installment once publication is complete.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Being told pregnancy is a death sentence in the modeling industry. It was the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard. I would say that being judged on my weight which constantly goes up and down is quite the bothersome thought as well.

I am a person with feelings and thoughts and sometimes I am being treated as if I am brainless and thoughtless which is farthest from the truth.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

The most important moment of my life was when I was able to take a step back and realize that… I liked who I was becoming.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

“I am not a hanger. I have a body. I am a soul.”

Chanel Marie Koi wearing a black hatDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I am a pescatarian with vegan tendencies. I do not eat bread, rice, pasta, or anything of that nature. I tend to not consume any dairy products. I’m opposed to investing a great deal of money on a fancy handbag or dress. I would much rather invest in myself, my body, my mind, and my soul.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I truly enjoy writing as well as reading fine literature. From old school hip hop to jazz and EDM to country, beginning in the very early morning I yearn to hear music. You have to lose yourself in music, let all the pain go and let the music heal your soul. Gaming, whether it be PC gaming League of Legends, or gaming GTA or the MGS series on my ps4…it’s my greatest form of escapism. Being healthy and fit is extremely important to me which is why exercise and proper diet is the bee knees for me! Contemporary art and antique shopping. Comic books, manga, and superheroes oh my! Tattoos are art and I admire and appreciate the art form very much. Foreign films and cooking fine cuisine. Anything that causes the creative juices to flow, I’m without a doubt onboard.

Would you change anything about yourself?

No, I would not. I am happy with who I am.

What features do you look for in a partner?

I want a gentleman who can sit me down, shut me up, tell me ten things I don’t already know, and simply make me laugh. I don’t care what he looks like, as long as he can turn me on. And if he can do that, I will follow him into the dark…into the great unknown. I’d embrace his flaws and lick his wounds . I would love him without rationale or restrictions. I would care about his feelings. I just need him to have something in there….and if he is going to lay his lips onto mine, I suggest he kisses me like he wants to be loved.

Interview with Tahnia Katherine — Life enthusiast and all things art

Tahnia Katherine is a 18-year old model residing in Burbank, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello, my name is Tahnia Katherine, and most people know me as TK. I was born in San Francisco, California and raised in the Bay Area. I am a very family oriented, goal driven 19 year old -Virgo!!- and love all things art. My hobbies consist of writing, reading, and music, just to name a few. There’s a lot of things I enjoy doing!

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I lived in New Zealand for 6 months when I was 13, and while I was there I realized that I wanted nothing more than to pursue a career in entertainment. Music, Film, Modeling, Photography, you name it. I am passionate about art as a whole, there are many aspects to that.

So after I moved back to the Bay Area, that’s when I really started getting into it.

Tahnia Katherine walking on the sandWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal and professional goals are very closely related. I am working on an EP currently, so I hope to drop that by the end of the year.

Overall, to make sick music, sick art, stay true to myself and my sound, be in the entertainment industry for the bigger picture, of passion and making a difference, rather than for the paper, to put my family first and always remember why I am doing what I am doing. And last but far from least, to love so very truly and appreciate the world around me. That’s how the best art will be made.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Since I am very focused on music right now, I do a couple shoots here and there with photographers building their portfolios so that I can make that couple extra hundred to support myself while I’m working on my EP.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I wouldn’t even say there’s a best or worst, I would just say you learn from all of it and grow from all of it. Whether it’s learning new technique or stepping out of your comfort zone, or working with an incredible photographer, or even quite the opposite and walking into something that you weren’t expecting. You learn and you grow.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Some of the photographers I’ve worked with have really helped push me out of my comfort zone, which is incredible. The safest pictures don’t tell as much of a story.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I mean, the height rules can be frustrating, I am 5’6 so work in this field is very limTahnia Katherine next to a wallited. It’s still the 5’10 girls who are working the most.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I was a very sporty kid and then I just kind of stopped participating in sports when I hit high school because I had a lot of joint pain and health issues. But I am very into yoga and meditation, and hope to start training in martial arts again soon.

As far as eating, just healthy well rounded meals. Food is very very important, nourish yourself!! Lots of water!!!!!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am a pretty open book, there’s nothing really that I “hide” from people.

Would you change anything about yourself?

No not at all, once you change yourself, you are no longer yourself.

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

Spend it with my sisters.

Interview with Andrea — Student and Model

Andrea is a 19-year old model residing in San Francisco, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! My name is Andrea and I am a model based in California. I am of Italian and Puerto Rican heritage. My Italian side is more prominent in my life; in fact I am typing this from Southern Italy. I am going to school here and traveling for four months. I was born near SF California and I have lived in that area all my life. I attend Saint Mary’s College. I have a small family and I love it that way because we are very close. I love to workout; I like hiking, yoga, lifting weights, running, TRX, swimming and dancing. I was a cheerleader and track runner in high school and had a great time. I love to spend time with family and friends. I currently am a full time student. In California I work part time at a tanning salon and do paid modeling jobs on occasion. Although my main focus is my BS in Kinesiology as I prepare to be a pediatric nurse.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first signed to a small modeling agency at age 15 just by submission. They didn’t get me much work so I then found interest in participating in a pageant. I competed with zero experience in Miss Teen California in 2011, it wasn’t what I imagined it to be so I then went back to modeling. I began shooting with local professional photographers and making connections. I have shot with well over 20 professional photographers and others in the industry.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I am a very dedicated person. School is my professional priority at the moment. I would like to continue modeling on the side for as long as I can. In five to ten years I see myself working as a pediatric nurse in a hospital hopefully starting a family of my own.

Andrea lying on a fenceHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

My modeling workload varies a lot. Some months when I am more free I will be test shooting, booking myself work, and attending castings multiple times a week. Other months, I am more busy. I do mostly photo-shoots. I like making short modeling films and acting as well. I like to shoot fashion, lifestyle, glamour, commercial, and art. My favorite I would say is swimwear.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have had many varying experiences. I have worked with many talented photographers that I have become friends with over time and that is great to me. I love working with a full team of great makeup hair and stylists. I love shooting for companies and magazines. I am fortunate to have not had any terrible experiences, but there is nothing worse than a scam.

While I am here in Italy and traveling in Europe I will be shooting with some amazing photographers and I am very excited about that.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

My most embarrassing modeling memory was shooting lingerie and being so excited about how awesome the pictures were going to come out and as we put the pictures up on a big monitor my tampon was sticking out in most of the shots…easy edit but so embarrassing!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Definitely. Height requirement. You would never be able to tell I am under 5’8 in photos yet I am denied by fashion agencies for that statistic. It doesn’t make any sense to me. The average person is 5’4-5’5 and advertisements are suppose to appeal to the most people so why would you put a super tall lanky person for print. I think the height requirement should be omitted and instead the requirement should be a naturally healthy looking physique because that is what we are trying to push in our society.

Andrea face closeupDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Health is very important in my life. I try to exercise 3 to 6 days a week all the time. I never eat fast food or drink soda. I love to go on adventures that require exercise rather than be in a gym. I love running and hiking outdoors. I do enjoy good food. I value food as a culture and just try to cook fresh local foods and get my workouts in.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am an only child and I know myself very well. Growing up with many adults I get along with elders well and I am mature for my age. I love to talk to old people and hear stories of their life.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would make myself more easy going toward myself. I am hard on myself in a lot of ways. I try to do it all and get upset if I can’t. I also get jealous easily especially of other females. It’s taken me a long time to gain confidence and I have gotten a lot better but there is always room for improvement.

What is the one talent you wish you possessed?

I really wish I was good at singing. I am mesmerized by a beautiful voice and I think most people are. I feel like a beautiful voice makes someone so much more attractive for some reason. If you have ever been to a concert and hear a solo, no matter what the person looks like, everyone falls in love with them after their solo.

Interview with Cynthia Aileen — A Dancefloor Enabler

Cynthia Aileen is a 24-year old model residing in San Francisco, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi, how do you do!

Let me start off by saying I was born a male. Just kidding. Now that I have your attention…

I was born in the up-and-coming city of Oakland and have lived all around the Bay Area -The Yay to be politically correct-. Please don’t be the ignorant type that automatically cringes with you hear the word “Oakland.” It’s a bustling place with a true urban feel and all types of vivacious characters. Oh, and with a Whole Foods!

Mamasan and Papasan are divorced, but ironically working symbiotically together in the same workplace. My dad is actually half Chinese and my mother is Scottish. My mom is currently at Burning Man without moi. My sis just had a baby boy named Brady who is actually not so disturbing looking, and my brother owns his own bar… and no I don’t get a plethora of free drinks.

Furthermore, I have a grown up job in the Financial District of San Francisco by day, and DJ at night, and model or act somewhere in between. Kinda that jack of all trades type, ya dig?

I love DJing, manipulating music, and witnessing the enjoyment from people when they hear a good beat. It gives me chills. I’ll dance anywhere, without music, on the spot. Dare me?

I see as many concerts and shows as my wallet allows me, I have 3 tattoos with more in the works, I love sour candy, and I have a German Shepherd who is the love of my life, along with my boyfriend, yes babe. I love vintage anything and play zombie video games quite often. Essential oils are the bees knees.

Cynthia Aileen in a gardenWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I really wanted to eat cotton balls for the rest of my life.

No, just kidding again. I stumbled upon Model Mayhem when I was about 22. On the docket was always that want for a chance to model or act for fun. So I signed up and starting getting some hits right away, I don’t know how. I remember my first photographer. He was Vietnamese, hilarious, and made me feel super comfortable. I didn’t tell him it was my first time. Nonetheless, he couldn’t tell. He fed me chips. Spicy ones. Score.

Then, a friend, and still one, Dominic was casting for a short film. He found me on Model Mayhem, chose me without meeting me, interviewing me, knowing me whatsoever and said you need to be my leading actress in this film. The character was a bad ass Ryan Gosling in Drive and Rooney Mara in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo type. I was on board. I was amazed he could read me from my profile like that. He gave me the script, we filmed in a week, got to slap my co-star, and it ended up playing in the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. From then on I have been on the website SF Casting for Commercials, Print, Film and TV. Among popular names, I just recently filmed Wives with Knives on Discovery ID, and Murder in the First on TNT.

There is something about the kinetic motion of acting that has a fulfillment for me modeling doesn’t necessarily not have, but feels like a total different animal.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I am a constantly on the road towards spiritual nirvana. I lost my best friend 2 years ago in a school shooting at 24 years old, and actually saw my own life flash before my eyes, believe it or not. So, really, all I want is to be able to live life in the most poetic manner for you, Grace.

If I impress someone with my work, great. But all that matters at the end of the day is how you feel about yourself because no one will love you if you don’t love you. I do what I do because it feels good. I make way for any type of adventure and run far with it. When I have the chance to partake in something whether it be DJ’ing, modeling, acting, or dancing in the street, I put my absolute all into it. Then see where it goes. With that being said, I have no idea what my goals are. Haha! Actually, to live in another country for a year or more has been something that has been on my mind. Sorry, am I just ranting?

Rather than having the end result in mind, I’d rather have the journey and the process to be thoroughly excited about. I think many people forget that. In 5 to 10 years I could be on the streets, or in my own private jet. Who the hell knows.

Cynthia Aileen face closeupHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I don’t model as much anymore, but if an intriguing project comes along that sparks my quirky and edgy nature, I do it. I am pretty picky. I mostly do auditions and filming now. I audition for things a couple times a week and film maybe once every 2 weeks. As I said before, I DJ and have a full time job so I don’t know how I am still alive. What is sleep?

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best experience – Meeting James Franco. I was actually on break for a modeling gig and went to a quick dinner in Palo Alto and ended up sitting next to James Franco. So for some reason, I associate the two together. hehe.

Worst experience – Not running away with James Franco; I repeat, I left the restaurant without James Franco.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was doing this intimate scene in a short film, not sexually intimate, just really mentally demanding, and… farted. It wasn’t the audible type of fart, but the smelly one. I had to watch the face of my co-star twinge a little. hahaha. I am lol’ing just writing it.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I want girls to give the address, name, and phone number of wherever they are going so if something goes horribly wrong, their boyfriend can fuck up that mother fucking twat.

The industry will never change their expectations of girls and “what is pretty” so I won’t even ask for that…it’s a vicious cycle unfortunately. I just hope girls have the confidence and right mental capacity to deal with it and feel good about themselves no matter what, or be able to tell them to fuck off.

Cynthia Aileen walking on the streetsDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Hahaha! No one ever talks about those things to me because they know I don’t do either. I did band in high school and was raised a vegetarian. Which means no sports and a boring, yet nutritional diet. I make sure I eat healthy and make up for my lack of protein but that’s about it.

I take my dog to the dog park to make sure she gets some exercise and I live vicariously through her. I snack a lot and have an unyielding sweet tooth. My favorite food is vegetable chow mein with fried tofu. Yes.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

A nap can not be any less than 3 hours for me. I also suck at calculating percentages on the spot.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Negative. Love yourself ladies. Growing up the only thing I hated about myself was my skin color, which is on the pale side. In elementary school I was called Casper. haha. I used to sit in my backyard and try to get at least a wee bit of colour but I would only burn.

Now, I have come to embrace it. I feel extremely lucky I have no insecurities about my looks because that can be utterly poisonous. It’s a truly rewarding and freeing feeling. Please try it.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Need I explain? wink wink.

Watch youtube videos of Beyonce and mimic her every move, right? yeah, duh.

Interview with Lauren Rebecca Roth — Full-time Model/Student

Lauren Rebecca Roth is a 20-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois. Currently in her senior year studying Psychology and English she has a background in musical theatre and is very comfortable in front of the camera. Having spent plenty of time around fashion designers, Lauren has developed her own unique but vastly diverse style so she can lend it to those projects she’s hired for. When not attending class, traveling or networking online, she is making connections at fashion events around the city. Cooperative and outgoing, feel free to reach out to her for work at her personal email: [email protected] .

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got started when I was asked to participate in an Akria runway show, when I started from there photographers took notice and instantly wanted to photograph me. It was great! My first shoot was published in Dark Beauty Magazine and I was hooked on modeling ever since.

Lauren Rebecca Roth sitting on a couchWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In the next ten years I see myself having completed a law degree and having traveled the world as a successful model, finally settling down and getting married.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model three to four times a week, mainly working photoshoots but also doing runway and video work. I mainly do fashion, but I am very popular for wedding photography, commercial, and films.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve had a vast array of experiences, many are too long to simply type out, but my best has been working with my mentor, Chris Neumer. We work together as much as possible as we’re always talking on the phone of fun cool shoots we can do together.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had a lot of funny experiences, most too long to type out. Not really anything embarrassing. I try to be my best while on set. What I find extraordinary is when I am walking around and people recognize me, or when I go to premiers for things I have worked on. It’s always great to have those moments.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I’m happy with where the industry is and where it is going, towards health rather than just being thin.

Lauren Rebecca Roth wearing underwearDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I kickbox, run, and do insanity workouts with my father. As far as eating, I keep a healthy diet, by eating very fresh and try not to eat GMO foods.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Not many people know I love doing charity work. I wanted to go to Thailand for mission work but wanted to finish my undergrad first.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Not really. I’m pretty content with the way I look now, if anything I’d make myself a few inches taller.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

I currently have a boyfriend of two years, and this is our second apartment together. He’s my better half. He’s very calm, understanding, intelligent, outgoing…basically the perfect balance for me.

Interview with Jacqueline Scott Ramos — Actor, Model, Researcher and Poet

Jacqueline Scott Ramos is a 22-year old model residing in San Francisco, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

— Actor.Model.Researcher.Writer.Community Builder —

I AM a daughter, sister, friend, lover.

I AM a community builder, fighter for justice — strong believer that change will come.

I AM a mentor, teacher, student, an open mind that craves inspiration — forever a learner.

Spirit for the arts, writer, poet, and actor, endlessly working to perfect my craft — but all flaws welcomed.

Fashion is my expression, while wellness of the body, mind, and spirit are of value.

The world, cultures, people ignite me, and I come to life when these beauties are intact.

The beach, water and sun always call, but in every season I am present.

Music is in my heart, dancing in my soul, laughter is my medicine – joys with substance hold my attention.

I AM a fierce woman of many trades, with heart and determination – I can be all things…

– Live. Learn. Love. Inspire. Be free. BE YOU. –

Jacqueline Scott Ramos wearing a white dressWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Fashion has always had a special place in my soul – my body is my canvas and the layers I choose to paint on my vessel are expressions of my creativity.

The power of womanhood, the liberty to freely express oneself is a power, a freedom that I value. I don’t conform to “trends,” but rather listen to my intuition, feel the vibe, mood and setting to create my look.

Going into modeling deepened my desire for creative expression in fashion. When I walk on the runway or am in front of a camera, a dynamic energy exudes, a powerful connection between the clothes, hair and makeup, setting, and the emotions that these things evoke, the zest from the audience, the photographers, the spotlight, the sound of the clicking of cameras – makes the world magically surreal and I become lost in its spell.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I am building to create a platform to connect all my passions, which include Modeling, Acting, Research, Community Building, and Writing – through art, film, photographs, social justice campaigns, and poetry. Through these mission, I hope to bring positive impacts on underserved communities, inspiration and beauty to everyone searching for their personal legend, and hope and encouragement to the world that we all can be our best selves with the determination, resources, mentorship, hard work, and perseverance.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model and act part-time, which includes everything from film, runways, commerical, and print.

I work in research involving social and health disparities affecting underserved communities, and am currently working on a digital health intervention that helps young people with schizophrenia achieve goals and build a sense of belonging, which is my full-time job. I also write poetry, short stories, essays, and screenplays on my spare time. I am working on a documentary on gentrification in San Francisco as well.

Lastly, I am launching a blog, which is the name of my company, “2BFREE,” which includes research, stories, reflections, and findings in areas of the Arts, Social and Health Disparities, Social Justice and Community Building, Music, Literature, Poetry, and is targeted for Sept 1st launch date.

Jacqueline Scott Ramos wearing black pantiesPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

So many experiences have been worthwhile, but the most interesting was a boudoir photo shoot, in black and white, where the photographer did mindfulness meditation with me to help me focus and be grounded in the shoot, she said we are both partners in creating something beautiful together…

The worst, not so much worst, but uncomfortable, as it was a swimsuit shoot in 50 degree weather on a beach in San Francisco, it was freezing, but I had to suck it up for the camera.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Modeling led me to acting, and my first acting gig cast as the lead was selected as a semi-finalist in a nationally recognized film competition!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Make it more collaborative rather than competitive, and also work to give back to the community.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I am what I eat! I have a whole foods based diet, mainly purchasing veggies and fruits from the Farmer’s Market, and also work out 3 to 4 times a week, which includes running, stretching, core work out, and upper and lower strength training; I also incorporate daily meditation and yoga 2 to 3 times a week.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Besides research, I model, act, write, dance, sing, and am involved in social justice and community building campaigns – Jack of All Trades!

Would you change anything about yourself?

I am a perfectionist, so am trying to practice being more present without harsh restrictions.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

Freeze time, so I can absorb as much time without an end with my loved ones.

Interview with Val Vega — Expression by Art

Val Vega is a 19-year old model residing in Los Angeles, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Val Vega, I was born and raised in Mayagüez Puerto Rico. I do not consider myself a model, I do model, for the fun of it, for the expression and art. I am an actress. I believe that as humans we have the need to express that which hides inside of us, I do it with the magic of art. My mother, who is a successful painter and graphic designer, brought me to this path of creativity from an early age, and so I thank her dearly for all of my accomplishments.

Val Vega face closeupWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I started modeling at the age of 12, mostly because I was a Tomboy and was not lady-like at all. After that I continued over the years. Today I live in Los Angeles, unfortunately my height is only 5’4″ so I am not able to do modeling as a career. My heart is truly into Acting, modeling shows up randomly in my life.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I am slowly but surely creating my own Empire. My goals are to create films that will change the perspective of many people, to create in them feelings, good or bad. To create content of substance and power.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I try to do as many photoshoots as a can per month, have to keep your skills on check. I recently premiered one of my short films at the Los Angeles Shorts Festivals and VHS Viral, a film I had a very fun part on, will be in Theaters November 23rd. I have been in multiple commercials the most recent one was for Google.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve had good and bad experiences in this industry, but I’m still extremely “Green”, so whatever happens, I just like to keep my glass half full. The more I do, the more I learn, but being positive is the only way to keep sane and attract better work and people

Val Vega wearing a black jacketDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love keeping myself in shape. I workout everyday, from running to lifting weights. Not very coordinated to play sports though.

I love food, so I cook a lot; it’s one of my passions. Food is just amazing, Thank God for Food!! That being said, I eat very healthy and clean.

Finally, what good is life if you can’t live it appreciating your body by treating it the way it should be treated?

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wouldn’t change anything about myself. I look how I look for a reason. If you don’t like it, then look away.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Watch ridiculous amounts of hours of shows on Netflix while eating popcorn.
