Interview with Lauren Marx — Mother, model, singer, actress

Lauren Marx is a 24-year old model residing in Boston, Massachusetts.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Lauren Marx, I was born and raised between Leominster, Massachusetts and upstate New York. I am a full time mother, model, singer, actress, and apparently juggler now that I have a moment to slow down, catch my breath and do this interview. I am a mother of one amazing little boy named Charlie and when I’m not working my focus begins and ends with my family. I’m a sucker for the simpler things in life, with an equally matched love for travel, arts, fashion, the outdoors, and success. I am a Spanish, German, Black Irish Taurus and I will do whatever it takes to have my cake and eat it too.

Lauren Marx modeling black underwearWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was 18 years old I walked into a Honey Dew Donuts in Worcester, Massachusetts and was stopped by a woman named Donna Sobieski. She was an agent with New York Model Management, she was both lovely and sweet. She complimented me on my shoes and my smile, and she signed me on the spot.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally? The sky is the limit. My laundry list of professional goals has no end, but when it comes to life; in the next five to ten years all I can hope is to be as happy and blessed as I am in this very moment.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

On a typical work week I’ll likely have 2 to 3 shoots, whether they be commercial based, editorial, glamour, or film, the one consistent thing about my job is that no matter what I do, I always have fun.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience with my job, hmm. Let’s see… How could I possibly decide? I would have to say that being in Vogue Italia definitely makes the list, getting to sing on stage with rock legends from James Brown Band and Bob Marley Trio, shooting for WAAF, starring in From Ashes To New’s hit music video or getting to be in Shaggy and Pitbull’s music video. Frankly I have had so many experiences to be thankful for, I couldn’t possibly choose just one.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

All. The. Time. I would have to say my best, funniest, most embarrassing, and out of the ordinary moments are more ordinary for me than I would like to admit. Also, I’m a dinosaur without coffee… Which is quite literally all of the above.

Lauren Marx face closeupIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change one thing about the modeling industry it would be the negative misconceptions people make about the models in it. We’re not dumb, drug induced, mindless fembots and we’re certainly not bullet proof. People should be kinder to one another, although I suppose that means that what I would change doesn’t necessarily apply to the industry alone, it applies to the world.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Once upon a time playing sports was my life, but now that I’m a bit older and a lot busier I would say solid nutrition comes before all else for me, although a little yoga and gym time never hurts to throw into the mix to keep everything firm and on the up and up.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m a wealth of useless information, a nerd to my core, and a diehard Trekky; live long and prosper.

Would you change anything about yourself?

My inability to do accurate mental math. That or my arms, check back with me in a week.

What features do you look for in a partner?

Kind eyes, sincere smile, strong hands, big socks.

Interview with Remington Jewell — Dedicated Model

Remington Jewell is a 20-year old model residing in Lexington, Kentucky.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! I’m Remington Jewell, I’m from Dallas, Texas; raised by my older sister with my two older brothers. I grew up in a big city with a ton of great people, who give me nothing but support to reach my dreams, and thanks to that I started modeling pretty young but not only did I love being in front of the camera, I also loved being behind it. Yes! photography is a huge part of me, and modeling my absolute passion and profession. However I enjoy other forms of art and expression such as writing: I write every day, various things, even if what I write will never be read, I love it, and I enjoy reading as well, I’m the biggest book worm! But most of all I love spending time with my family and friends, without them my work, my art, would be gloom.

Remington Jewell on high heelsWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was about 11 years old at the mall with my family and I was standing in line at the ToGo Chilis getting a refill of coke for my father. There was this huge stage taking up half the food court and as I stood in line I just watched the stage trying to figure out what was going on. There were crowds of people of all ages standing around, and as I was looking I caught eyes with a woman standing behind stage directing people, she starts to wave her arms for me to go to her and so I went and she said she wanted me in her fashion show, that I was absolutely perfect. Turns out for me it was a modeling contest, and I won out of over 300 people. I’ve always wanted to model but that day, when I was so nervous but went out on stage anyways, I felt like I never had before, and I knew then that I would become a model. The following day, my father starts to receive phone calls from multiple talent agencies asking to meet with me, which I did but I decided on my own to wait until I was a little older before I started modeling, shortly after I moved to Bulgaria for a few months. When I was 15 I started to build my modeling career and I’ve been doing it ever since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My sister -who is a hair stylist- and I plan to open a hair salon and spa together. It has been a goal of mine since I was a very young girl to do this for my late mother who passed away too young, before she could reach her dream. I will continue modeling also of course, but our dreams will rise together.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model 3 to 5 times a week and I do various types of work. I mostly do photoshoots and runway, modeling fashion, art, commercial, athletics, glamour, boudoir, many different types. The only thing I have not shot was nudity; which is just a personal thing for me, however I’ve shot implied nudity.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Oh every time is the best time! Although I do have a worst experience back when I first started, when I was supposed to meet with one of my photographers but a few days go by and I never heard from him until one day he calls and asks to see me for a shoot that next day so I go and when I get to the studio, he sits me and my companion friend down and tells us he hasn’t called because his 12 year old daughter just passed away the day before. So I’m saying “What? Why am I here to work when you should be grieving?” and he replies “Well, I stole a ton of flowers from her funeral so I can cover you in them.” His face when saying that still send chills down my spine and actually just because of him I spend my time talking with girls on how to be safe and properly build their portfolio with great photographers. Needless to say, after he said that I did not continue working with him.

Remington Jewell modeling long white bootsHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had a few embarrassing moments like when I had one of those famous nip slips or when I’m doing an outdoor shoot and people who are just passing by start to stop and watch and once there is a good sized crowd the wind decides to blow my dress straight up.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Honestly, all I think is models, especially women should take more time to talk to the young girls and women. The way some people perceive models can be all wrong and we shouldn’t let these unrealistic ideas and images wash the young minds.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I absolutely love working out! I start off with yoga early in the morning, then I run 6 to 10 miles, I then do my core exercises and light weight lifting and tons of squats and before bed I do yoga once more. I’m a huge sports fan too and basketball is my favorite, so me and a few friends will go play sometimes. Working out makes you very hungry as we all know, and I am always hungry, so eating right is very important to me. I only cook at home and the great thing is it is so easy to prepare healthy delicious food: I typically eat skinless chicken, brown rice, all my veggies, lots of salmon and other fish, fruits, whole wheat pasta, and much more, those are just my favorites!

Remington Jewell modeling a bikiniPlease share something people don’t know about you.

My mother passed away when I way 3 years old and my father was never really around. When I was 12 my father took my brothers and I out of school but didn’t put us in any homeschooling program. So at 12, being too young to work, I pulled together as much money as I could find and bought school books for my brother and I. I taught myself at a college level and got my first job at age 15 when I was able to get a job.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Absolutely not. We are all our worst critics and even though I may see every little “flaw” in myself I know I’m beautiful and unique. I don’t even look at it as “flaws”, how can one have flaws if we are all to be different and unique. Honestly the only thing I want to say I’d change is that I care far too much about anyone and everything, but maybe more people should.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

I sing and dance like none other when I’m alone and boy, does it make me feel good! I’d probably die of embarrassment if someone were to catch me but when no one is around it’s all hanging out!

Interview with Kylie Smith — Tomboy Gone Model

Kylie Smith is a 20-year old model residing in Chicago, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Kylie Smith, born in Bay City, Michigan. My mother, Erika, stepfather Randy, and father, Brian have been very supportive of every hobby I’ve explored and done. My main hobbies and interests are reading crime story novels, working with animals, spending time with family and friends, and watching ice hockey. I am signed to MAD Talent Agency and couldn’t be happier with my agent; she is immensely supportive and so easy to get along with. We have a great relationship.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Up until I was 14 or 15, I was tomboy: I played ice hockey with all guys, I loved wearing boy clothes, getting dirty with four-wheelers, fishing, and so much more. One day, I received a message from a mutual friend with someone on Facebook and was asked to help build an online portfolio and website; he said he loves my look and I just thought to myself, “I’ve never tried a photoshoot or any type of modeling, so why not give it a go?” I went to the photoshoot that weekend and ended up loving it. He suggested that I make an online portfolio through a modeling website and I did just that; by my third photoshoot ever, I was flown out to Wisconsin for a paid shoot with my father to model swimwear; all expenses paid. I never once expected that to happen, but I’m glad it did!

Kylie Smith wearing a white long sweaterWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

As for my personal goals, I would love to tone up my body a bit more and regain confidence. Professionally, I am currently a junior in college getting a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, so I’d like to do something in Marketing or Public Relations after I receive my degree.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model in spurts, as balancing school as well as an acting career becomes difficult sometimes. I am mainly doing photo shoots, all different types of modeling, though; acting, video, fashion, commercial, glamour, swimwear. My photo shoots consist of many different things, such as long hours, lots of wardrobe changes, makeup changes, and making sure I’m coming up with countless poses.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had with modeling so far is landing a contract with a wonderful agency in the commercial division, as well as meeting so many amazing people along the way.

One of the worst experiences I’ve come across in this industry brings me back to one of my first photo shoots. The photographer and I were in a room alone shooting swimwear, and he tried forcing me to model in lingerie, which was not part of the agreement. He told me if I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t get paid, and then he locked the door and threatened me. I just went with it all at that point because I was brand new to the industry and I was 14 or 15 years old, I didn’t know how to react.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The one thing I would change about the modeling industry would have to be the protection for models. We don’t have much of that; there are so many creeps out there and I know many models who have such frightening stories about experiences from photo shoots they attended alone. I’ve been there myself and it was terrifying, it’s something that really needs to be taken more seriously.

Kylie Smith lying on a white backgroundDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Typically, I eat fruits, fresh steamed veggies, lots of fish and sushi, and a ton of chicken. I definitely have thrown some junk food in there, though! I drink water pretty much all day everyday. I am starting to get back into my workout routine, which consists of cardio and Pilates 5 to 6 days per week, to tone my body up, as it’s very important for me to stay healthy and be active.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am also signed for acting at my agency and I didn’t have to audition. I’ve been in the TV shows Chicago P.D. and Empire. I also filmed with Melissa McCarthy for her movie Michelle Darnell coming out in April, 2016.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would personally love to be taller and more muscular, which is partly why I am working out again! Also, perfect skin would be great! But then again, who doesn’t get blemishes?

What features do you look for in a partner?

What I look for in a significant other is him being genuine in all that he does, supportive, trustworthy, and down for spontaneous adventures!

Interview with Kiri Ann Fischer

Kiri Ann Fischer is a 21-year old model residing in Saint Charles, Illinois.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I grew in up in Illinois, I’ve moved twice in my life, but have always called home the Chicagoland suburbs. My family is very tight-knit, and they are the most important thing in the world to me. My hobbies include running, going to the gym, listening to music, going to concerts, spending time with my family and boyfriend, driving, writing, and reading. As far as modeling goes, I would love to continue to branch out and shoot new things, as well as get new viewers and collaborators. Outside of modeling, I do work a full time job and live a pretty normal life.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first got involved in the modeling industry when I was 16 years old, and I immediately fell in love with it. When I was younger, I loved ballet and ice skating and just getting dolled up, in general; It is something that has carried with me throughout my life, and having the outlet to model and express myself in various ways is therapeutic, as well as a huge part of who I am. I started with doing photoshoots with friends who wanted to do photography, as well as establishing a few photographers as my go-to’s, that I would shoot with on a monthly basis. From there, it branched out to collaborating with various talented photographers, makeup artists, wardrobe designers and stylists, and companies.

Kiri Ann Fischer modeling a black mini skirtWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

The goal is to keep growing, on a personal and a professional basis, with myself, with my personal goals, as well as with my career and career goals. I will probably model throughout the rest of my life, in some aspect; I want to see new places, shoot with more people, and be a part of many different projects. I would ultimately love to be involved in more pin up and tattoo-oriented magazines, publications, and clothing lines, as it is what I take the most personal interest in, as far as genres go.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

It depends on what else is going on in my life at that time, I was modeling about 2 to 3 gigs per week my first year of college, but it had a negative impact on my grades so I began to lay low until summer. After I graduated, I did gigs here and there, but became very selective; now, I typically do one to two gigs, including shoot, audition, and others, per week, and I am looking to increase my work load, as my day job is much more stable and offers more freedom. I love to do it all- runway, promo, pin up, fashion, art, alt, commercial, glamour, beauty, and sports- I do not box myself in at all.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experiences would include doing Playboy events. They were so much fun, I met a lot of cool people, and even made good friends throughout it. They also spoiled us so generously; runway shows are great because having my family come out and support me is one of the greatest feelings in the world, plus I love the theatrics of it.

The worst experiences would include creepy stuff, like some girls taking my bio or resume and trying to claim it as their own, or someone impersonating me online. Stalking and inappropriate propositioning are on the worst list, as well.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve gotten some awesome stuff over the years, like a company who offered to create a comic book after me. It was really, really flattering and I have a couple prints of it at home.

Kiri Ann Fischer in a garden wearing jeansIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the negative aspects of it- both interior and exterior, for example, the sickness it could cause from the pressure to achieve a certain image. Beauty standards only exist if you chose to follow them, for me personally, I like who I am and what I stand for too much to allow myself to go down that path anymore. I also wish there was a way to eliminate non-legitimate people in the industry.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Yes, I love sports! I workout about 5 days per week: I love to run, and I do a lot of cardio, although I do strength train here and there. Skating, yoga, and any sort physical activity I can possibly pack into my week, I’m always game for. As far as nutrition, I’ve been a vegetarian for eight years and I try to incorporate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables into my day. I drink a lot of water. If I splurge, it’s on pizza or whiskey. Health and wellness is incredibly important to me, as a whole however.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Some interesting things that people probably do not know about me is that I have generalized anxiety disorder, I want to travel a lot, I’ve probably worked every job you could imagine at some point, and Tim Beidron is my dream tattoo artist, maybe he will see this and hook me up with some nice ink?.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would not change a thing about who I am, because it has brought me to the point in my life where I am today, and I am very content with that. I am incredibly lucky to be where I am at this point in my life, with the people I have, and all of the beautiful experiences I have. I am extremely thankful for that, and I am more excited for the future now, than I have ever been in my whole life.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Exercise, I’m generally pretty introverted so I prefer solo workouts. Other than that, probably sing and nerd out to music in my car.

Interview with Lauren Poole — Full-time freelance model

Lauren Poole is a 22-year old model residing in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, I moved to south Florida when I turned eighteen years old with the hope of pursuing a career in the talent industry. Since making the move back in 2010, many things have happened which have all made me the strong person I am today.

There have been losses – my brother passed away on May 16, 2011 because he couldn’t see the point in living: I found his dead body upstairs after visiting my grandmother- , triumphs – overcoming such a burden, battling working as a freelancer and making it in small magazine publications, and working practically full-time as a brand ambassador, promotional model, and model-, and endless days and nights of wondering how to prove to the world that I am that girl who knows exactly what she’s doing and deserves the chance to prove herself to top clients.

Lauren Poole modeling a white dressThe talent industry is what I live for, so I consider that to be my hobby. Whether it’s spending countless hours trying to market myself, find work at some event, set up photo shoots, work as an extra, brand ambassador, promotional model, model, or whatever — that is practically my life 24/7. The perks of working at big events such as auto shows, boat shows, golf tournaments, festivals, shoots, sets and productions, and other kinds of events is that I am able to speak to many original people in the world; people I would have never been able to meet if I wasn’t doing the jobs that I do now. I love being so social. One reason is because you can learn a lot from other people, hear their stories, feel their pain or happiness, and it leaves me with such great feelings in the end. When I do have some time off because it’s a slow season or what not, I like to be outdoors and participate in such activities such as gardening, taking long walks, bicycling, and exploring hidden areas of south Florida.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I first grew an interest in acting and modeling when I was twelve years old. I have always been a bit of a drama queen, so I figured acting would suit me well. I took some acting and modeling classes. While attending, I realized that I may actually have more of an interest in modeling than acting. I started to focus more on setting up photo shoots. Now, I am open to both acting and modeling.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal is to find an agent or manager who will seriously try to help me make it in the talent industry. There are so many people, strangers even, who tell me I have what it takes. I may have what it takes, but ultimately it’s all about connections and knowing the right people.

I am visiting Los Angeles in August of this year. The reason is because Los Angeles has bigger productions going on than south Florida. I feel that my opportunity may be greater over there. If things turn out well, that’s where I see myself moving to.

Lauren Poole wearing nerdy glasses eating appleHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Unfortunately, modeling does not come around as often as I would like for it to. Some months, I may set up to two or three shoots which is probably the average. I have everything from avant-garde, high fashion, beauty, swimwear, commercial, hair modeling, jewelry, and maybe a few other looks. I have also been involved in a few video tutorials.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have had some great opportunities with modeling in south Florida. I met a spectacular male photographer who gave me a shot at proving petite models can shoot high fashion. We have been published in a few magazines so far and have worked together close to a dozen times in one year. We work together so well, and I am so thankful to have met him.

I haven’t come across any horrific experiences yet fortunately. The only downfalls I have had are usual ones such as shooting with a few photographers and never receiving the images back.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Oh, wow. Working with my stellar high fashion and avant-garde photographer, there’s always something funny going on. The first shoot we ever did together, I should have known things would only become crazier from then on. He has put me in size stilt like heels, loves to put me in the water, put things on me as clothing that weren’t really clothes -i.e. paint swatch dress creations, simple jumbo clothes, a lamp shade, among others-, and put every color wig on my head you can think of. It’s always a blast, and it seems like I make him laugh somehow at every photo shoot because of the crazy faces I make sometimes while in the zone trying to shoot.

Lauren Poole face closeupIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes! I do not believe that it’s right for models who are 5’8″+ to have it made while if you’re under 5’6″, you have the biggest struggle. Of course, I understand that one reason for this is because the clothes are made to fit models who are 5’8″ and have perfect measurements. To me, that is living in an unrealistic world. Models like myself are not treated fairly or shown enough support. I have the longest eyelashes you could ever imagine, porcelain skin, and big, mesmerizing eyes. The world may never know this though because agencies and clients do not give me a fair chance.

Please, look at true beauty for what it’s really worth. Don’t try to determine beauty by numbers and height. Those things don’t mean anything to me personally.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I have rejoined the gym. I now go there at least four days a week. While I’m there, I like to work every muscle in my body – head to toe. I use just about all the machines available to make sure I have strong muscles everywhere. It’s also important to increase your heart rate which is why I use the step climber or elliptical machine. Generally, I spend about one hour at the gym to receive a sufficient workout.

As for eating, I became a gluten free dieter back in January 2013. Since then, I have only experienced this type of eating habit. I love it because I feel like I have more energy, less full, and happier overall. I have learned about several new foods which I probably would have never known about if I didn’t make the switch. I now try to make sure I am consuming enough key nutrients such as protein intake, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and so on.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Some people who don’t know me extremely well may not realize that I like to over analyze things. I like to dig deep into people’s thoughts and life. I like to learn new things on a daily basis. I’m a perfectionist. I try to see the best in people. I don’t judge anyone because each person is unique. I like to treat everyone fairly. You could say that I’m somewhat of a hippie with the information provided. Just about every new person I meet tells me I am very interesting. The reason is probably because I am nowhere close to being like your typical twenty something year old. I live life in an unusual way and that’s what keeps the world guessing about me.

Lauren Poole stucked in a bathWould you change anything about yourself?

I wouldn’t change anything about myself. Here’s why:

Tragedies happen. Life happens. Decisions are made left, right, and spur of the moment. While I have made sour decisions in the past, I don’t have any regrets because everything that has happened plays a part in the person I am today. Accidents happen that you have no control over. You can’t “change” that accident. It just happened. Maybe you were the cause of the accident, or someone else was. Either way, it happened. You must take everything life throws at you and choose how to handle it. It’s easy to become overwhelmed instead of thinking logically. In the end though, it’s important to learn to accept yourself and live life as if you are the only person who matters. That may sound like having a big ego, but I don’t mean it like that. We underestimate ourselves. We don’t give ourselves enough credit. We’re constantly patting other people on the back and sometimes we forget to pat our own self on the back.

Here’s what you have to remember in the end:

Life is one big joke. You can either choose to laugh about it or cry about it.

In this industry I chose to become involved in, it is super easy to want to shed tears all the time. I have the most awesome friends and family though who are right by my side and love me even though I’m only 5’3″.

With that said, I am going to promise to not change a thing about myself, laugh at life, and continue to fight for right to be a successful model.

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

I would spend all of my money someway.

Interview with Chrissy Neptune

Chrissy Neptune is a 25-year old model residing in Boulder, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Although I was both in Carlisle, PA, I was raised with my brother and sister in South Carolina by my -amazing- single mother. Any time…

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I wanted to model at a young age, and had the benefit of a supportive mother. When I was in my pre-teens, I was able to participate in workshops and seminars in order to educate myself on “the business.” I ended up taking a break to work on theatre and music, and stumbled back into modeling by a happenstance when I was 22. I had a friend mention an opportunity to model for a local clothing company named Luna Claire, and after that shoot, I knew I would continue the journey.

Chrissy Neptune wearing a blue miniskirtWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goal personally, is to create magic and beauty. I think the process of taking ideas and turning them into reality is pure magic, and I believe beauty is essential to a joyous life. I should clarify that I believe beauty is anything that carries sensation and engages the soul in the moment, so it is all defined individually, and not confined to visuals.
Professionally, I would like to focus on music more. Singing will always be my favorite thing in the world. In five years, I hope to have a full album recorded and on Spotify.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

On average, I model once a week. This usually consists of photo-shoots for clothing catalogs and website promotions on a commercial level. I also love fashion and art photo-shoots, though those happen less frequently.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change anything about the modeling industry, I would make things more organized overall. Last-minute cancellations, tardiness, or having little-to-no communication with your creative director can be fatiguing. You always want to be on the same page in order to get the best shots possible.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Every morning I stretch for 20 minutes, and try to be sure to do body-resistance exercises for at least 15 minutes per day. Otherwise, I walk and bike everywhere I go, weather and distance permitting.

When it comes to my diet, I am a grazer. Throughout the day, I will munch on trail mixes, veggies and hummus, or graham crackers and peanut butter if I am feeling sweet. Lunch usually consists of a veggie sandwich, and dinner almost always has a meat, mixed veggies, and rice or potatoes. My weakness is cheese though, especially sharp cheddar.

View More: http://thekatiejanephoto.pass.us/cb-styled-shootPlease share something people don’t know about you.

I was a janitor for college dorms for 4 months. It was surprisingly fun, albeit quite disgusting at times.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would change my feet. They aren’t bad looking, they just hurt all the time because of heel-spurs. I would love to be able to run without a grimace on my face. Internally, I would like to remove my insecurities. This is a process that I actively work on.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

If I could have any superpower, I would have a green thumb. The ability to heal and grow plants instantly would be the best I think. I could grow food or flowers, and heal trees and crops. I have a hard time finding a “downside” with this ability!

Logan Westbrook is a 19-year old model residing in Denver, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am the exact mix of my Puerto Rican father and Southern blonde hair blue eyed mother, born and raised in Denver, Colorado. As an only child I have been incredibly blessed with support from parents who have sacrificed almost everything time and time again to let me dream big and strive towards my goals. Learning to live with the alcoholism, depression, and bankrupcy that has plagued my parent’s marriage and at times our whole family, I put my passions and stresses into sports, music, horses, and eventually modeling as I grew up. I have grown up riding and training my own horse who is my forever companion through good times and bad, and singing all kinds of music. This has lead me to be able to sing for various charities, sports games, and events across the state and in other states as well.

When I was 7 I traded in my tae-kwon-do belts for a pair of figure skates and have been skating competitively ever since. To my parent’s dismay I discovered yet another expensive hobby when I was 12 – pageantry. Pageantry lead me from state title to state title and national competitions across the country that provided scholarships and opportunities I never could have dreamed of. As of late, I have taken up college as a pretty much poor first generation student with dreams of going into the medical field. None of this has been without my having always had a part or full time job since I was 14 years old, and I have been grateful for every second of every blessing and opportunity that has come my way.

Logan Westbrook modeling a sports outfitWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Once “America’s Next Top Model” came out when I was still in elementary school I was hooked. I have always had a naturally slender build with lots of leg but was fully aware that 5’8″ is the typical minimum height requirement for runway models. It wasn’t until the petite season of ANTM came out on television that I realized there was hope for an aspiring 5’6″ girl like me. Starting from the ground up in 2007, I worked with various freelance photographers and a small local talent agency to build my print portfolio and add to my skills and experience. I took any job that I could, bending over backwards for projects and photographers to earn my way up the ladder of diversity and experience. Slowly but surely, after years of working without pay and dedicating lots of time to the modeling world my confidence and skill grew to the point where I was ready to pursue modeling more intensely than ever before.

My sophomore year of high school I was suddenly on the rise of what would begin my more professional modeling career. After having been asked to be a senior model and spokesmodel for a local photography company, and winning my first state title at a pageant in the same year, I was picked up by Barbizon Southwest. For years I had been selected for massive scouting opportunities overseas that my family and I simply could not afford, and never seemed to be able to find work in Colorado. Here, finally, was the training and the exposure that I needed to kick start my professional career, and kick start it did. Since then I have been so grateful and blessed to be the cover for local ad campaigns, featured in editorial and catalog magazines across the state and a few nationally published magazines, walk various runways for hair and fashion shows at the local and state-wide level, judge modeling and pageant competitions, work on award winning photography projects, and am continually requested to audition for large company commercials like Hyundai.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My goals for modeling from this point forward in my life are to begin moving to more diverse work across the country, perhaps even out of the country if the opportunities should arise. I have lots of print and runway experience now at the state level and have tasted work in other parts of the country. I can’t get enough, and want to experience other runways, meet more designers, and one day be featured in an international magazine. Given this is all hopes and dreams of a petite model living in a tall world, all the while struggling through college. I figure if I made it this far I certainly can make it farther, it will just depend on the connections I continue to make and the opportunities that arise.

Logan Westbrook modeling a long black red dressHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

For the past few years working for Barbizon Southwest I have worked for a paid job in modeling at least once a month every month. During busier seasons I have worked and continue to receive work several times a month and often several times in a week. Most of this work is couture print work for regional magazines followed by local runway shows. I also do a lot of commerical, catalog type work from voice-overs to clothing brand advertisement.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I have had so far with modeling has been working on a project called “The Diver” by photographer Paul Miller. This incredible shoot was almost a 12 hour shoot that feautured massive elaborate sets and wardrobe changes. This year it was awarded for it’s amazing finished photos and artistry by the Art Directors Club of Denver at their annual show. The greatest part of this project was that, once it was published I began receiving calls for work like never before.

When it comes to my worst experiences modeling, it is difficult to really say because what many people would consider the worst are still things that I am grateful for in the big picture. I have sat for hours on a freezing cold location set while they do hair and makeup, or been practically naked on the runway while my poor father looked on in horror but understanding that being model means you don’t always get to choose your wardrobe. I’ve been jostled around back stage or been told time and time again that I’m not tall enough or I don’t have perfect model features. The reality is that sometimes the behind the scenes stuff isn’t all that glamorous, and yes they are correct, but I have learned that fashion and modeling isn’t at all about perfection or what’s “the right size”, and those standards have not kept me from enjoying pursuing this dream.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I was asked to model a dress with an incredible high slit that showed a little too much if the dress flew behind my legs on the runway…Of course, it did… as the designer sort of expected, but much to the joy of my onlooking boyfriend and his pals who continue to taunt me about it to this day. I didn’t think twice about it while I was on the runway, but giggled hysterically when I saw my mom’s face in the audience as I was walking off. My poor sweet parents have never said anything about my modeling work but good things, even when it rubs their parental side the wrong way.

Logan Westbrook inside a barn wearing jeansIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would absolutely change the height standards for runway models, not just because I myself am petite but also because I know so many other incredibly talented models who would do anything for this industry but cannot change their height. It is a sad loss of talent in my opinion.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I enjoy running because that was my sport in high school -track-, but most recently I have fallen in love with this workout called “Body Barre” which is basically a workout spin on ballet moves. It is very challenging but makes for really well toned muscles, good posture, and flexibilty. The coolest part is that we do the workouts in out sock and it’s all about isolation so there is no running around like a cardio workout, while still making you work incredibly hard. I tend to stick to gluten free foods because that seems to be a trigger for face breakouts for me. I also love a well made protein shake and keep up on daily vitamins and at least one serving of vegetables a day plus tons of water.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

People typically don’t know that, although my work and my hobbies usually put me in a dress and heels and wearing lots of makeup, I am very much so a tomboy. My favorite outfits behind the scenes are anything that isn’t a skirt: I adore pants, baseball caps and boots.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Honestly if I could be 5’8″ of course I would love to have more modeling opportunities. Otherwise I am happy and grateful to be myself and have the life that I have been given, even if I never make it to the pages of an international magazine.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I have a strange phobia of dark water and big fish. I have never experienced trauma in these areas so my family has no idea where this comes from. I won’t even jump into a dark pool.

Interview with Taylor Tran — Model and Highly Trained Hip Hop Dancer

Taylor Tran is a 20-year old model residing in Denver, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, but my life now is all mainly Denver based. I’m a full time licensed hair and makeup artist and in my free time I’m either working out, modeling, at church or dancing with my hip hop crew – Academy of Raw/Hype 303 -check us out on YouTube!!- we perform, travel, and compete in various competitions around the US. My greatest priority is to love God and love people!

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was actually always told I should model since I was super young. I never really looked in to it much. I was in school to be a cosmetologist at the Aveda Institute of Denver and I quickly learned it was a pretty diverse industry, we have access to collaborate with some of Colorado’s best photographers and stylists and more. I saw a flyer for a model call in the institute for the NAHA competition and decided to go and was chosen. Through that, I was asked to model for fellow makeup artists and hairstylists and even photographers that came in to take photos of our work. I started building up a portfolio and just really networked a ton. The idea of being signed to an agency always kind of freaked me out but one of the photographers I worked with really encouraged me to submit to Donna Baldwin Agency and I got signed right away!

Taylor Tran modeling a flowered dressWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Honestly, there’s a lot I want to do. I feel really blessed because it seems to me like my heart and mind have lined up with what God has planned out for me as far as my passions and careers go. I’m not aiming it super far out right now, I’m focusing on the beginning of my career as a hair and makeup artist because I just started 3 weeks ago, building up a stable clientele and making enough to travel and open up opportunities for myself. Do I hope to go further in modeling? Absolutely. That dream also scares the crap out of me because I also know though that it’s a very competitive industry, but I don’t think it’s something I can’t achieve. I hope to move to Cali in the near future.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

It all just kind of depends, the past two months have been super busy for me as a model with Denver Fashion week and shoots and such but it’s all just mainly random. My agent will email me when a client is interested, I also keep contact with many different photographers and love collaborating artistic vision. For me, modeling consists of getting to sleep in and waking up and heading out on location looking like a scrub because they’re going to do your hair and makeup for you – which is one of the best parts. I do mainly print work and photoshoots and also runway, but not as much since I’m shorter than your standard runway model. I’ve done fashion, editorial, glamour, art, commercial, sports and others for portfolio work, magazines, a book cover, and more.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best experience was when a photographer and stylist found me on my agency’s site and flew out from South Carolina to work with me, I thought I’d just be traveling around my state shooting with them but I really had an intense spiritual connection with these people. We woke up as early as 4am and road tripped to Georgetown, St. Mary’s Glacier, and Garden of the Gods just shooting, eating good food and exchanging good music and having some really deep talks. It was amazing and I made some incredible friendships. I don’t really think I’ve had a worst experience, my very first photo shoot was for a hair competition and they dyed my hair neon orange which I thought was going to be awful, but it faded really pretty and I actually kept it for a long time.

Taylor Tran modeling black lingerieHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Probably just the photo shoot I talked about with the people that traveled from South Carolina, totally out of the ordinary. Loved it though. I don’t think I’ve had anything embarrassing happen… Yet!

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I noticed that it’s more common now so I guess it is changing a little! I would change the majority of the height requirements for top agencies to 5’7″… Mainly because I’m 5’7″ hehe.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do! Dance is probably one of my very greatest passions above most. I’m a hip hop dancer with one of Colorado’s finest hip hop crews called Academy of Raw, formerly Hype 303. We practice 4 days a week and do various performances, battles, competitions, an more. We also travel and compete around the US and have dance fam in places like LA, Hawaii, Vegas, even the UK. We do a lot of intense training and working out. I also try to workout on my own as often as possible, mainly cardio and strength training, I’m a fan of HIIT and I also run a lot. Nutrition has recently become a lot more important to me and I mainly eat clean. I drink a lot of smoothies and try to avoid chicken nuggets which is actually the hardest thing in the world. Just saying.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m actually a very passionate writer. I write poetry, I write what inspires me, I write about my daily life, where I’m going, what I’m experiencing, and more. I have kept consistent journals from the moment I’ve been able to write when I was young and I know for a fact my life wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t. I don’t know why but I’ve always had a strong instinct to document and express absolutely everything in that way.

Taylor Tran showing her blonde hairWould you change anything about yourself?

I want an inch! Just one more inch! I always say that. Haha.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

Let’s be real here, I’m a very spacey person, always have been. When I was in kindergarten, I wore a really pretty and flowy light blue dress with blue and green flowers all over and and a blue cardigan to daycare one day, and as I was outside on the playground I noticed a breeze that I didn’t notice before. I panicked and sat down and cried and refused to tell the teacher or anyone why for hours because who forgets their underwear? Me, that’s who. I can remember exactly what I was wearing years ago on the specific day but I can’t remember my own underwear. That’s talent.

Interview with Danielle Graves — College Student, world traveler & Model

Danielle Graves is a 19-year old model residing in Boulder, Colorado.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m a Colorado girl, born and raised. My passion is traveling and experiencing life from a different culture’s perspective through immersion. My heritage probably ignited my interest because my father visited Colombia to find a wife and that’s how I came to being. I also have a passion for psychology and understanding what makes us human, so I’m currently finishing up my B.A. in Psychology. I’m torn between going to graduate school right away or completely immersing myself in top modeling industries but I’m a spur of the moment kind of girl so that decision will come in time.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have numerous photographers in my family who encouraged me to start modeling and even helped start out my portfolio when I was younger. Between the ages 13-17 I didn’t do much modeling until I won a contest that allowed me to model for a local shop and take two free photoshoots. From there I discovered model mayhem, joined an agency and started collaborating with amazing photographers. Modeling feels very natural to me and it’s an art form that I’m intrigued by that allows me to express myself.

Danielle Graves wearing a blue top and jeansWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five years I see myself sitting on a beach in Indonesia working off my laptop as a virtual counselor and encouraging people to follow their bliss. That’s just one goal. I also want to pursue acting and modeling and encourage women and girls that beauty and brains can coexist if you believe in yourself.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I always have an event or gig lined up from fashion shoots, runway, promotion, art concepts, commercial, short film… I like to be versatile and challenge myself in many areas.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Referring back to trying multiple modeling industries, I signed up for a metal undergarment runway show. I didn’t know what the costumes looked like before agreeing to do the show, I just knew it was an 18+ event. I was told to wear panties and a thong and then was fitted into a metal corset. Corsets aren’t comfortable to begin with, much less when it is made entirely of scrap metal. I also wore a metal thong with razor blades in the crotch region in representation of a medieval chastity belt. My attire looked modest compared to what the men had to wear. They wore a thong with a metal dick attachment that, with the push of a button, could shoot out flames. This show was very erotic but also very entertaining because the other models turned it into a joke and had fun with it.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the height requirements. It is so unfortunate that an entire industry is narrowed down to the same look. I understand that the designers like to have their clothing fit the majority of the models but surely exceptions could be made for all the gorgeous girls that aren’t 5’8+. Maybe it would be wiser to include girls that fit the height and weight criteria of the average female not only in the United States but worldwide.

Danielle Graves modeling a white dress at a fieldDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I’ve tried multiple sports as a girl and soccer was my favorite. I haven’t participated in sports since high school but I make sure to workout with weight at least 5 days a week and eat nutrient rich foods. A typical meal would include grains, protein and vegetables. If I can see and pronounce all the ingredients then I consider it good for me. Without exercise I feel depressed, tired and unmotivated. I encourage everyone who feels this way to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in a day.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would change my height. If I was 3 inches taller I would have the confidence and opportunity to model for my favorite designers and travel the world as a model. I know I should appreciate the way I was made but I wouldn’t be human if there wasn’t something that I wanted to change about myself.

How do you think you are most likely to die?

I’ve asked myself this numerous times and although it’s not something I’d like to plan or look forward to, it’s inevitable. I hope it is a beautiful tragedy and I die for a great cause or rescue someone that needs more time on earth than I do. I don’t fear death because I look at it as a new beginning to a great ending.

Interview with Candace — a courageous outgoing risktaker.

Candace is a 22-year old model residing in San Diego, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My lovely name is Candace Carroll, friends and family call me just candy. I was born is Sunny Day go, I have two older brothers also an older sister; they have their families, I’m not at that stage yet in my life even though it would be a blessing to have God just knows when you as a person -well my case- myself is fully ready for that responsibility putting a roof over a family is.

My interests are more of a technique style in playing pool, loving the beach and the warm sun, My profession is criminal justice and a few languages, I am an outgoing hard-working woman and I don’t let anybody take me for granted; life is amazing but I always say “Life is just a mere chance, live it like every emotion matters, a mere chance is worth living for”.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

As an 18 year old fresh out of high school, my close friend was asking beautiful women to shoot for portfolios and offered me a try and I just fell in love with angles, dimensions and especially the beauty in this type of art, I may not be able to draw like a tattoo artist but being a model, being in front of a camera posing has beauty in it, the perfect lighting, posture, face and body angling is exactly what I love doing, making a new pose is my art, that’s my expression and I would love to be doing this for a very long time, beauty is always alive, it never fades beauty is everywhere we just forget the beauty in simplicity at times.

Candace on a bedWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goal is more of a family goal, first is to take my parents out of this crazy place and buy a home for them to retire and enjoy their lives, I am the strongest person when it comes to them but also when it’s about them I’m the weakest, they are my strength and my weakness and anything I do, I want them to be beside me in moving up in this world, I see myself in five years being a lawyer and helping people fight for themselves and actually prove they want to change and live better than before, five years after that, I want to be a judge and just do good for people who deserve a second chance.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I mainly do shoots, it’s a very easy schedule. I model in fashion, erotic, glamour, editorial and commercial, the work hours are fairly simple. A few hours in a day depending on photographer, which I don’t mind whatsoever.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Anytime I model I love every second of it, I never had a bad experience; every photographer I have had was very professional and respectful, I understand their viewpoints and their dislikes in working with certain type of people which understand can’t take criticism for their professional services experiences.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

In my few loving modeling years, it’s been a good one no complaints in any field, I can’t even think of one thing to be completely real and probably sad but it was professional and comforting.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could, I would change the way that media portrays females to young children, that being skinny is in and being built bigger is something to feel bad about; beauty is in the eye of the beholder and only seeing beauty in one thing but not another shows for a narrow minded person, beauty is everywhere in the sky above, in the color of the ocean, the way every woman is, their motherly nature, the trees in the forest, animals, being in love and even feeling pain, pain is an emotion that brings color no matter how down a person is they way a person heart feels the inside of a person’s mind, body and spirit is beautiful, nobody should feel judged only by looks alone.

Candace at the beachDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I honestly eat as much as I can, I work out at night time after a long day, I eat protein, and fruit, being healthy in this industry is a great thing especially to promote health to young children growing up.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Let’s see! I’m an awesome pool player, better than novice, better than beginner and rookie, just a little before professional, and I love being challenged; it’s the best thing to know someone expects you to be a better you, learning everyday to be better than yesterday, that is my personal self goal.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I wouldn’t change a thing, improve yes, change, I’m God’s creature, I am beautiful the way he made me, if I was supposed to be something I’m not, I would have already been that but I’m not so I apologize if that answer was boring.

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

If I had 24 hours on this planet to live, I would take my parents everywhere and anywhere they wanted in their whole life to visit and explore, my parents mean the world to me, I would want to see my last few hours just seeing them smile and happy for that will be their last and most emotional favorite memory of their baby girl, their little girl, to make my parents happy will be a great ending to my life.
