Interview with Remington Jewell — Dedicated Model

Remington Jewell is a 20-year old model residing in Lexington, Kentucky.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! I’m Remington Jewell, I’m from Dallas, Texas; raised by my older sister with my two older brothers. I grew up in a big city with a ton of great people, who give me nothing but support to reach my dreams, and thanks to that I started modeling pretty young but not only did I love being in front of the camera, I also loved being behind it. Yes! photography is a huge part of me, and modeling my absolute passion and profession. However I enjoy other forms of art and expression such as writing: I write every day, various things, even if what I write will never be read, I love it, and I enjoy reading as well, I’m the biggest book worm! But most of all I love spending time with my family and friends, without them my work, my art, would be gloom.

Remington Jewell on high heelsWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was about 11 years old at the mall with my family and I was standing in line at the ToGo Chilis getting a refill of coke for my father. There was this huge stage taking up half the food court and as I stood in line I just watched the stage trying to figure out what was going on. There were crowds of people of all ages standing around, and as I was looking I caught eyes with a woman standing behind stage directing people, she starts to wave her arms for me to go to her and so I went and she said she wanted me in her fashion show, that I was absolutely perfect. Turns out for me it was a modeling contest, and I won out of over 300 people. I’ve always wanted to model but that day, when I was so nervous but went out on stage anyways, I felt like I never had before, and I knew then that I would become a model. The following day, my father starts to receive phone calls from multiple talent agencies asking to meet with me, which I did but I decided on my own to wait until I was a little older before I started modeling, shortly after I moved to Bulgaria for a few months. When I was 15 I started to build my modeling career and I’ve been doing it ever since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My sister -who is a hair stylist- and I plan to open a hair salon and spa together. It has been a goal of mine since I was a very young girl to do this for my late mother who passed away too young, before she could reach her dream. I will continue modeling also of course, but our dreams will rise together.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model 3 to 5 times a week and I do various types of work. I mostly do photoshoots and runway, modeling fashion, art, commercial, athletics, glamour, boudoir, many different types. The only thing I have not shot was nudity; which is just a personal thing for me, however I’ve shot implied nudity.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Oh every time is the best time! Although I do have a worst experience back when I first started, when I was supposed to meet with one of my photographers but a few days go by and I never heard from him until one day he calls and asks to see me for a shoot that next day so I go and when I get to the studio, he sits me and my companion friend down and tells us he hasn’t called because his 12 year old daughter just passed away the day before. So I’m saying “What? Why am I here to work when you should be grieving?” and he replies “Well, I stole a ton of flowers from her funeral so I can cover you in them.” His face when saying that still send chills down my spine and actually just because of him I spend my time talking with girls on how to be safe and properly build their portfolio with great photographers. Needless to say, after he said that I did not continue working with him.

Remington Jewell modeling long white bootsHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had a few embarrassing moments like when I had one of those famous nip slips or when I’m doing an outdoor shoot and people who are just passing by start to stop and watch and once there is a good sized crowd the wind decides to blow my dress straight up.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Honestly, all I think is models, especially women should take more time to talk to the young girls and women. The way some people perceive models can be all wrong and we shouldn’t let these unrealistic ideas and images wash the young minds.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I absolutely love working out! I start off with yoga early in the morning, then I run 6 to 10 miles, I then do my core exercises and light weight lifting and tons of squats and before bed I do yoga once more. I’m a huge sports fan too and basketball is my favorite, so me and a few friends will go play sometimes. Working out makes you very hungry as we all know, and I am always hungry, so eating right is very important to me. I only cook at home and the great thing is it is so easy to prepare healthy delicious food: I typically eat skinless chicken, brown rice, all my veggies, lots of salmon and other fish, fruits, whole wheat pasta, and much more, those are just my favorites!

Remington Jewell modeling a bikiniPlease share something people don’t know about you.

My mother passed away when I way 3 years old and my father was never really around. When I was 12 my father took my brothers and I out of school but didn’t put us in any homeschooling program. So at 12, being too young to work, I pulled together as much money as I could find and bought school books for my brother and I. I taught myself at a college level and got my first job at age 15 when I was able to get a job.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Absolutely not. We are all our worst critics and even though I may see every little “flaw” in myself I know I’m beautiful and unique. I don’t even look at it as “flaws”, how can one have flaws if we are all to be different and unique. Honestly the only thing I want to say I’d change is that I care far too much about anyone and everything, but maybe more people should.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

I sing and dance like none other when I’m alone and boy, does it make me feel good! I’d probably die of embarrassment if someone were to catch me but when no one is around it’s all hanging out!

Interview with Baileigh Graham — Corporate by day, Model by night

Baileigh Graham is a 21-year old model residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Baileigh Graham, I am 21 years old, born and raised in Baton Rouge Louisiana to a single father. I have been dating the drummer of Ventruss for 3 years, and we have two fur-babies together, Moe and Felicia. I work a full time, legal assistant, corporate job during the day while I also attend Paul Mitchell Cosmetology school at night. I love local music, so on the weekends you will find me supporting local bands such as Ventruss, Brutiful, The Hitch Hiker Followed, Axes of Evil, and others.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have always loved the beauty industry, but I never wanted to take any steps to being a part of it. Modeling was just an idea to get me comfortable with being a part of the industry, but ultimately modeling is actually the reason I decided to go to cosmetology school. It took off, and I have been in love with modeling ever since.

Baileigh Graham modeling a black braWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years I hope that I own my very own salon in Baton Rouge, and am happy and content!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Since my weekdays usually consists of school and work, I only do photoshoots on the weekends. I do glamour, boudoir, fashion, and art photoshoots. My favorite is glamour photoshoots because you always feel like a million bucks afterwards!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience from modeling happened not too long ago when I received the opportunity to join other models in my industry for San Diego Comic Con.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change the modeling industry I would make it more diverse. There are so many beautiful woman that think that they can’t or won’t do well in modeling because magazines portray women as stick figures. I feel like everyone should let out their inner Beyoncé and do a photoshoot at least once in their life. It really boosts your confidence.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

With school and work it’s really hard not to eat on the road a lot during the week, but I do try to limit myself to only drink water, absolutely no sodas! I wish I say I hit the gym more than I actually do, but I live a very busy lifestyle.

Baileigh Graham modeling black underpantsPlease share something people don’t know about you.

A lot of people don’t know that I am big into the local music around Baton Rouge. Although I cannot play a tune if my life depended on it, I love listening and supporting all the great talent in this area. The guys work so hard and it truly shows in their performances. I have met some of the best people through local music shows!

Would you change anything about yourself?

Before I began modeling I could list you a million things I would change physically about myself, but now I have all the confidence in the world and embrace my body just the way it is, so no I would not change a thing about myself. Modeling has truly brought self-happiness and more confidence than I have ever had before.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

Yes, I am currently in a three year relationship with the love of my life, Cameron. We literally got together 3 years ago on a drunken night and have been inseparable ever since, and although we met in high school, we were only friends back then. We actually moved in together just 2 weeks after dating, and all the pieces just kind of fell into place and it worked out for the best. He is a full time welder, a full time student, and plays in a local band, Ventruss. He definitely is my better half.

Interview with Red — Tattooed Model, Mother, Jäger Girl

Red is a 24-year old model residing in Smyrna, Delaware.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born in South Carolina, grown in little old Delaware – the name is Ashley, but Red is more appropriate nowadays. Along with raising my tiny monster, Pierceson, I hold the title for a lot of things. Model, Brand Ambassador, Nursing Student, Jäger Girl, and my newest venture, Cocktail Waitress at a strip club.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Oh goodness, girls ask me this all the time!

I got my foot in the door to the modeling industry working at car shows for an audio company when I was 20. It all happened so fast, it was kinda just like “here, put this shirt on and go take pictures with people’s cars.” That’s what started my portfolio. After that, I just ventured into bigger, better, and more tasteful projects. Haven’t looked back since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Well I was about to say “One day I hope to have my shit together.” But thinking about it, I enjoy my crazy, unpredictable, hellish little life. Keeps me on my toes, and that’s the best way to be, right?

In the next few years, I plan on graduating nursing school and landing a Labor & Delivery RN position. Building up my portfolio bigger and better than ever, being recognized more than just around my area. Living on my own, no more roommates. And continuing to live my life happily ever after raising hell with Pierceson.

Red modeling a bridal dress in the countrysideHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I frequently do promotional modeling. Making appearances at various locations, promoting the job at hand, then leave. I love it. I often do photo shoots too. Mainly glamour, boudior, and promotional. I’d love to venture out and broaden my horizons in that sense. I could rock a catwalk.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My worst experience hands down was 3 years ago, receiving a fraudulent check that I thought was from an event I’d worked. After I deposited it I found out it was a fraud, and I am the one that got punished for it. Comes with a “Black List” label on Check Systems, and not being able to open a bank account for 5 years. I still have 2 years to go, lucky me!

My best experience would be working for Jägermeister. I have met so many interesting and amazing people working promotions for them. It really put into perspective for me that everyone is their own uniquely beautiful person. Plus, being down at the beach all summer working a fun ass job has its perks too.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Well back when I was doing car shows, one of the events consisted of a Dunking Booth that I somehow ended up being volunteered for. Horribly embarrassing. I was wearing a white top, make up running down my face, hair had me looking like a drown cat. Wouldn’t recommend that to anyone!

Red wearing a pink top and black miniskirtIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes! Well not change it, but advice I would love to give. To girls new to the industry, or trying to make their way into it; You do not have to take your clothes off to be noticed. And once you do, that’s mainly what you’ll be wanted for. If that’s the route you want to go, make sure it’s classy and tasteful. Something you’ll be proud of!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not play any sports, but if I did have time for volleyball I’d be in there like swimwear! My jobs require me to be on my feet pretty much all day, I could probably run a marathon in stilettos by now and not think twice about it. Come to think of it, I have climbed the side of a cliff in heels for a shoot before!

When it comes to food, I eat whatever I want. But whatever I want doesn’t usually consist of anything greasy, fatty, or sugary anyway. I do love a good pizza though!

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m actually super self conscious of my appearance. Weird, right?

Would you change anything about yourself?

As self conscious as I may be, I don’t think I’d actually change anything about myself. Because it makes me who I am. Except there may be a boob job in my future, I would change that!

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I have the sickest shark phobia, but I love the beach! I am terrified yet fascinated. I will not even swim in a pool by myself, no matter the size. I start thinking about Sharks and it freaks me out. If I’m in water, someone has to be with me at all times. Yet, I’m glued to the TV during Shark Week, that’s my shit.

Interview with Meg Vega — The California Girl

Meg Vega is a 20-year old model residing in Santa Rosa, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Meg Vega. I am a 20 year old model in Santa Rosa, CA. I was born in Pleasanton, CA. I have always been a Cali girl and always will. I am the eldest of two. I have a younger brother, Mike. I was raised in a loving family with a firm grip. My dad was born in Japan, my mom in Germany, both on United States Airforce bases. So they came from a very militant background. My dad definitely wanted a boy so I did every sport known to man. I thrived in Field Hockey and Pole Vaulting in High School. Since then I have just been keeping up workouts at the gym. My family is very close knit. When you come from a German background on one side and a Russian side on the other you definitely stick with each other like glue. As my grandpa used to say, “We stick to each other like glue, we are gonna be ok.” In a Russian and Bronx accent of course. Now I work as an Assistant in an office here in Santa Rosa, however I hope to fulfill my dream one day of becoming a famous model.

Meg Vega topless with a jacketWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was 16 I lived with my mom, and we were struggling with money. My brother just moved in with us from our dad’s in Oregon and I needed to make sure he was eating decent whole meals. My whole life people would comment on how pretty I am. I thought if I could make money off of that, I could help my family! No one in a college town would hire a 16 year old with our labor laws so I looked at agencies.

I found an agency in San Jose called John Casablanca’s Model, Talent Management. For a little background John Casablanca’s is the creator of Ford models. One of the most prestigious Model Agencies in the world. This division was more for everyday people. I was accepted that day but I had to pay 3,000 dollars for training. I did, sadly, and my first job was a Hair Show for Aquage a year after I signed. They dyed my hair, for the first time ever, and cut it in three shows on stage. I didn’t know that this was the best thing that could have happened to my career. It was going nowhere. When my hair changed I became different, more fashionable. People started to see me. I joined MM and One Model Place to get noticed when I went free-lance. Over the last year I have done close to 40 photo shoots. Developing relationships with photographers and other models in the greater Bay area, I hope to sign to a bigger agency and take some time to actually pursue modeling.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I want to be the first successful petite model. The industry has been changing a lot over the last few years. If I work hard enough and get the right opportunities then I can be the first successful petite model. For now I am working on the back side. Working the fashion angle. Styling myself to get noticed and get out there. Look like a model and soon you will become a model. Know the designers, know the trends and who is up and coming. Though, thanks to my height I will never walk a runway, I photograph tall.

Hopefully in a couple years I will be signed and five to ten be behind the scenes but still involved in the fashion world.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model at least twice a month right now. Thanks to my two jobs it is hard to actually get out there and go to the agencies I need to and get my face out there.

The modeling I do ranges from Glamour to Boudoir to editorial. I have done quite a few styles. The one thing I do is I like to leave my viewers curious. I don’t show everything, I show just enough to keep them coming back. It is no surprise that I am a voluptuous model. I am not plus sized but I have some curves. So photographers tend to put me in lingerie or swim wear.

Meg Vega wearing a bikini at the beachPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience was with a photographer named Paul Mango Chon of Bittersweet mango productions. He was a class act. His photos were spot on and he was an all over good guy. He was so creative and stylized. He really launched my career. I got the most feedback from his images. Sadly he moved down to LA to actually work in the industry. But we still keep in touch. He is onto bigger and better things.

My worst experience was with a photographer that will remain unnamed. We had met and talked about shoot ideas. We wanted it to be a Grunge fashion shoot. When I got to the shoot, he wanted more and more articles of clothing off. It was leaning more towards porn than fashion so I had to walk off set and go home. That was the only shoot I have done that on.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Haha, yes, a few things but this is the funniest. I was doing a Swim wear shoot with Jim Parks, who is another amazing photographer. This was in San Francisco, CA and it was super overcast, which is not abnormal for SF but still, it was cold. Anyways I was taking pictures in some Beautiful Disaster stuff and he wanted some water shots, so I of course said why not! So I went to lay on the beach and a couple people were gathering around, watching us shoot and a giant freezing cold wave crashes down right on top of me. I started laughing and rolling up the beach, Jim collapsed in laughter and the people that were watching started laughing too. It was definitely embarrassing but I didn’t really care; it was fun and I was in a swimsuit which is supposed to get wet. haha.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I do have something I would change. The modeling industry makes every flaw a huge deal. “You’re too short. You’re not a 10 % BMI. You’re not a size 7 shoe. I feel like they would sell so much more if they gave people a more realistic hope that they can be fashionable. Let the woman with a C cup and a bodacious bum wear Louis Vuitton more people will want to wear Louis. If you let a 5’3” woman on the cover of Vogue I guarantee you people will have healthier goals. This prestige in the fashion industry is becoming a bit of an unattainable goal. Why would anyone want to strive for something they can never get to?

Meg Vega between two polesDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I love food so I have to exercise a lot. I eat three meals a day and snacks in between. I eat a lot of chicken and my favorite thing in the world is Zucchini sauteed in olive oil with Garlic salt. Taste just like french fries. I work out about five days a week. I start with running for about a mile before my workout. Then I do lots of squats and leg workouts, move onto abs, then last some arms. I have to be careful because my arms get very bulky if I work them out too much. Then I drink tons and tons of water. It’s my magic potion to a great body and great skin.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am a car fanatic. I am currently tricking out my 1997 Mazda Miata. I am a muscle car kinda girl but I will die of excitement if I see anyone or any car from any of the fast and furious movies. I learned how to drift from my ex and I love racing on the back roads of Napa valley. Back roads = Less Cops = More speed.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Only one thing and that’s my height. If you could tell by my article already, height is a huge thing in this industry and that is the one thing I want. Maybe one day the industry will change and the time of short beautiful woman will rise.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Taco Bell. Crunch Wrap Supreme’s. I know not a model food…but it is so good!

Interview with Sage Sibaja — Full time student and model

Sage Sibaja is a 19-year old model residing in Sacramento, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Hayward, California. I’m one of the first babies made by artificial insemination, allowing my two fantastic mothers to conceive me. I’m Mexican and Guamanian. I was very popular in high school and I played softball and volleyball for most of my time in school as well. I’ve always done well in school. Now I’m in college going for my english degree, and then to my masters. I plan to model until I get my masters. Then I will switch gears and dive deeper into my writing career.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

In high school I became fascinated with the industry. I knew I wanted to be in front of the camera and I wanted everyone to know my name and what I stand for. I started my career small, meeting up with local photographers and going to agency castings. However, I’m only 5’5″ and although the agencies said I had “the look”, I lacked the height. Now I work as a fit model and still shoot with local photographers for fun. I’m gaining more popularity through social media so hopefully that will pick up and open some more doors for me.

Sage Sibaja lying on a bedWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Professionally, I want to have money. I want to be able to buy my mom all that she deserves. I grew up without money so it is important for me to sustain a nice living for myself. In five to ten years I hope to be writing my autobiography, living on my own land, in a house I designed and built, by the beach, out of the country. I hope to be happy with my loverly by my side and a couple pugs by my feet. I crave a life of relaxation and peace.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I mostly do fit work. Meaning, I help in the process of actually constructing the clothing to my body proportions. But in my spare time, I do print work as well. I do glamour, lifestyle, portrait, boudoir and street wear photoshoots.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Best experience I’ve had modeling was receiving my job and booking regular income monthly!

The worst experience I’ve had was running into the occasionally creepy photographer. Only happened to me once, but it is a regular occurrence in this industry. Be careful out there ladies!.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

No but I have met a lot of amazing people. I love all the connections I was able to make throughout my career so far, even though it is just beginning!

Sage Sibaja wearing lingerie watching through a windowIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change the height requirement. In the U.S, the average female is 5’4″. It makes no sense for the requirement to be 5’8″. The clothes will look completely different on the customers’ bodies. It’s in bad taste from a consumer point of view but I understand that this industry is about beauty and I suppose long legs are more beautiful.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I was very blessed to have a fast metabolism. My diet consists of hot cheetos and sour patch kids. However, I do squat. Gotta keep the booty looking nice.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m smart. I grew up poor. I have two mothers and a step mom. I have siblings of all races. I can sing. My bellybutton is an “innie” but I can pull it out. My mom named me after the indian spice because it rids away evil and my name itself means “wise”. I think it fits.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’m a perfectionist. It has it’s advantages, but also it’s downfalls.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I am deathly afraid of sharks.

I am also a full-time student at Cypress College studying for entry into the nursing program. I am also taking a course to become a financial advisor.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was in high school and my friend Kim always went to car shows so I would tag along… one day someone took a picture of me on their car and that was it. I fell in love. I would attend some shows occasionally and also set up my model mayhem profile and got to work!

AK47 wearing a pink corset and a hatWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In five years, I hope to have my own house with a yard for my pitbull Dexter and maybe a new dog. I hope to take a vacation with my sister in Europe or somewhere exciting like that. I see myself being calmer yet still busy with different projects. I hope to start my own business and buy property.Definitely can see myself still going to EDC and Nocturnal Wonderland. Oh, and Tomorrowland in Belgium!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I took a break to focus on full time school and work but I usually shoot boudoir and glamour. Implied work also. I mostly just shoot and work a tradeshow once in a while. I would love to expand my portfolio with anything but lingerie I’m sooo sick of it!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experiences are meeting my friends I’ve made in the industry. I’ve met some really great people. The worst experiences are wasting your time showing up to a meeting or casting to talk business and then having plans fall through or delay. My time is more important to me than money so that’s always unpleasant. Also, when photographers get handsy and weird. Just no.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had someone ask me to wear dirty stockings for their private collection. I didn’t even want to know hahaha!

AK47 wearing a gray miniskirtIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

You don’t need to be 6’0 and 112 lbs to be beautiful! You don’t need a huge ass, big breasts, or a thigh gap. There are different kinds of beauty! It’s 2014 we need to be more open minded.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I used to play softball as a kid but I quit in high school. Nowadays, I stick to running daily and going to the gym. I have to do this now to keep my chub from getting too bad, it isn’t as easy as it was in high school haha…I also try to keep myself healthy because my family has a rough medical history.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I love beer with pickle juice.

Would you change anything about yourself?

To anyone who’s met me it’s obvious I’m lacking in the breast department… So maybe I’d change that but honestly I’m learning to embrace it. I’d change my temper. I get angry easily.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Les Miserables!
