Interview with JazzyD — Multi Talented Business Model

JazzyD is a 19-year old model residing in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Jazmen McDonald, born in Detroit, MI in 1996, and I have 2 families; my mother’s family and my father’s family. My hobbies include reading, writing raps and poetry, singing, dancing, and helping others, and my interests include helping teens like myself, giving back to youth, building an empire. My professions are singing, dancing, writing, cleaning, cooking, and giving advice.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Being young and tall for my age at the time my family would encourage me to become a model, especially my aunt Alethea Thomas who was Ms. Washinton D.C. I got involved in the modeling industry when I was 9 years old, I was at this African-American convention similar to the African-American World Fest and my God Sister was doing a fashion show, she was a short one model and I was the only girl that was tall and slim enough to fit her design. I got into the modeling industry soon after I realized I loved being the center of attention.

JazzyD on a pond with red topWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals are to be able to provide for my future children and be able to leave a legacy that they can carry on for decades. My professional goals are to be able to show younger children you can do anything that you put your mind to as long as you stay focused, you may get distracted but as long as your main focus is to become the best at what you do and want to do you can make it, not just for young people but for everyone. In the next five to ten years I see myself being successful in my modeling and business career as well as being a mother.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

In the modeling industry because I am a petite model so most of my work is limited. I do shoot often but they are not continuously, I mainly do photoshoots, video shoots and they’re mainly artistic nudes, nudes, glamour, implied nudes, and eye-candy shoots.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I have had with modeling is being able to enjoy the camera and being able to be free and have fun. My worst experience was going to New York with only $9 in my pocket and not being able to make it to certain appointment and castings, as well as being stood up by other photographers.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I have had an embarrassing moment, I was shooting a movie and there was a part in the shoot where I was getting in the tub, remind you I didn’t know I would be naked so everything was natural.

JazzyD modeling a flowered dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The only thing I would change about the modeling industry is the amateur photographers.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I don’t do any sports but I do workout 3 to 5 times a week, which includes 10 minutes stretch, 140 squats, 50 reverse sit ups, 50 calf’s, and dance while working out, each workout day. I watch what I eat and or how much of it I consume simply because I have to keep my body tight and the next days work out is going to be painful.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am Honduran and Native American and I’m mainly laid back and chilled. People love spending time with me.

Would you change anything about yourself?

If I could change anything about me, it would be my judgmental side.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

My fears are roller coasters, height, and insects. Roller coasters make me feel like I’m going to die, height makes me feel as if someone is going to drop me, which is a reason I couldn’t be a flyer in H.S., and insects make my skin crawl. My phobias are dirt and nasty places it really makes my skin crawl like spiders.

Interview with Jillian Elizabeth — Unofficial Disney princess and Mermaid

Jillian Elizabeth is a 26-year old model residing in Boston, Massachusetts.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! My name is Jillian Elizabeth and I’m from Boston, Mass! I’ve been modeling for about 5 years now, I’m recently trying to get into actressing, so we’ll see how that goes! My goals include being published in Maxim, Playboy, Sports Illustrated and Arsenic Mag, and I’d love to be an international playmate, that’d be pretty cool. My friends describe me as half socially awkward and half I’ll talk to a brick wall. I’m an animal rights activist for cruelty free cosmetics, and I hope to one day open up my own no kill shelter. I love shopping, binging on my favorite Netflix shows, and the beach.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Oh gosh I think I was like 7 or so when I found a Playboy magazine and every since then, I knew I wanted to be a model, since I love being in front of the camera! I come alive per se, but my professional side comes out more when I’m working because I’m overly critical of myself, but at the end of the day, I love looking at the work I can create.

Jillian Elizabeth modeling underwearWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals are pretty much like every other girl, just to find someone who’s like minded and to build my empire with, as well as start a family. My professional goals are to get published in Playboy both regular and International, Maxim, and Sports Illustrated. I want girls to know it’s ok to be proud of who you are, and to know you don’t need to be super skinny to be a cover girl.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Since the new year I told myself, I wanted to accomplish something every month: January I went to the Sundance film festival, this month I have some shoots lined up and so on; my goal is to be more productive. I love doing glamour shoots, but since it’s winter, I have to wait to do beach shoots, unless I travel.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

All the people you meet and just the fact that you know you got there yourself, but also all it takes is that one person to help you. I’m fortunate enough to be in an agency where all the girls get along and my agent is working everyday for us, so that was kind of my starting point for being more serious. But if you do travel to say the Sundance festival, unless you’re well known, no one will even give you a glance. You have to build yourself, I’m all for helping anyone I can!

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

The more I think about what I’ve done, the more I’m like wow I actually did that, I went to the links and laces golf tour and ended up winning a trip to the finals, so that was dream come true. Working with great photographers that I’ve seen on Instagram, so it’s been amazing.

Jillian Elizabeth at the beachIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Telling girls to love themselves more, in certain areas they tell the girls you have to be this thin or this tall, but I believe you’re born the way you are and everyone is beautiful. Skinny girls, athletic, curvy, plus size, as long as you have a good soul that should be enough.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I actually took a few nutrition classes, I do Zumba, and mostly focus on toning and booty exercises.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Huge nerd, like giant; ask me anything about Batman and I’ll tell you, I love superheroes, like to the point I start spewing out how Batman is the most badass from the justice league, but captain America from the avengers is Ok. I’m also weird, it’s boring to be normal, my celebrity crush is definitely Matthew Grey Gubler… my god, what a beautiful dorky man. I’d love to discuss all things superheroes with him over coffee.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I’ve worked really hard on loving exactly who I am.

What features do you look for in a partner?

I basically look to see if there’s that mental connection as physical. I saw a certain someone at the film festival and our eyes met and it was like nothing I ever felt before, I was too nervous to go talk to him so I didn’t, but I’m hoping our paths will cross again. I believe everyone has a soulmate, and I want mine to be funny, and intelligent, non judgemental, animal lover, not a cheater. Basically I want to be looked at like I’m the only girl in the world in his eyes. Someone to make me feel so loved that I’m like wow so this is what it feels like to be in the notebook…

Interview with Carmen Maria — Recording Artist and model

Carmen Maria is a 24-year old model residing in Flint, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Pontiac Michigan, and grew up with an older brother, sister, and younger sister. I started to sing and model when I was 3, and graduated from Genesee Early College as the first graduating class and earned my undergrad in Human Biology at the University of Michigan Flint.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have been modeling since I was three years old, have participated in many contests and catalogs. I begged to get back into it when I was sixteen and continued ever since. I took a short break to finish my human biology degree from the University of Michigan, but now it is my main focus again.

Carmen Maria modeling black dress and high heelsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My long-term goal is to be an international recording artist. I see myself traveling all over the world for work in five to ten years, and see myself on magazine covers and brightly lit stages, as well as having out an original album, and creating a perfume line and also writing my own book.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model often and it consists mainly of photo-shoots. I love glamour, especially old glamour, have participated in catalogs, and learned to walk the catwalk at seven years old. I love fashion and creating images with photographers that stretch my boundaries.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experiences I have had modeling have been shoots where I show a lot of emotion and am able to totally express myself. I love when I can look so versatile that I barely recognize myself, and it is so amazing being paid to travel to shoot. Some less fun experiences include modeling in the Michigan snow and getting bitten by red ants while modeling on a rock.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Getting bit by ants was kind of funny afterwards because you could actually zoom in and see the ants on my upper thigh and then once I realized I was being bitten and got some interesting shots of me jumping around.

Carmen Maria face closeupIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

The industry being so limited in its vision of what is beautiful.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I participate in yoga, swimming, hiking, I love being active. I typically eat unprocessed food because it is so much better to put good nutrients into our bodies without excess chemicals.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I am very concerned about the water crisis in my home town of Flint Michigan.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would be more patient and taller.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

Sing! I love to sing alone to perfect my talent, and although I don’t expect perfection, I definitely strive for it. I love to practice performing with a microphone and everything when I am by myself. I think it is important to go all out even when practicing, and I think the only way to make your dreams a reality is to think with optimism and never stop striving for more.

Interview with Remington Jewell — Dedicated Model

Remington Jewell is a 20-year old model residing in Lexington, Kentucky.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! I’m Remington Jewell, I’m from Dallas, Texas; raised by my older sister with my two older brothers. I grew up in a big city with a ton of great people, who give me nothing but support to reach my dreams, and thanks to that I started modeling pretty young but not only did I love being in front of the camera, I also loved being behind it. Yes! photography is a huge part of me, and modeling my absolute passion and profession. However I enjoy other forms of art and expression such as writing: I write every day, various things, even if what I write will never be read, I love it, and I enjoy reading as well, I’m the biggest book worm! But most of all I love spending time with my family and friends, without them my work, my art, would be gloom.

Remington Jewell on high heelsWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I was about 11 years old at the mall with my family and I was standing in line at the ToGo Chilis getting a refill of coke for my father. There was this huge stage taking up half the food court and as I stood in line I just watched the stage trying to figure out what was going on. There were crowds of people of all ages standing around, and as I was looking I caught eyes with a woman standing behind stage directing people, she starts to wave her arms for me to go to her and so I went and she said she wanted me in her fashion show, that I was absolutely perfect. Turns out for me it was a modeling contest, and I won out of over 300 people. I’ve always wanted to model but that day, when I was so nervous but went out on stage anyways, I felt like I never had before, and I knew then that I would become a model. The following day, my father starts to receive phone calls from multiple talent agencies asking to meet with me, which I did but I decided on my own to wait until I was a little older before I started modeling, shortly after I moved to Bulgaria for a few months. When I was 15 I started to build my modeling career and I’ve been doing it ever since.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My sister -who is a hair stylist- and I plan to open a hair salon and spa together. It has been a goal of mine since I was a very young girl to do this for my late mother who passed away too young, before she could reach her dream. I will continue modeling also of course, but our dreams will rise together.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model 3 to 5 times a week and I do various types of work. I mostly do photoshoots and runway, modeling fashion, art, commercial, athletics, glamour, boudoir, many different types. The only thing I have not shot was nudity; which is just a personal thing for me, however I’ve shot implied nudity.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Oh every time is the best time! Although I do have a worst experience back when I first started, when I was supposed to meet with one of my photographers but a few days go by and I never heard from him until one day he calls and asks to see me for a shoot that next day so I go and when I get to the studio, he sits me and my companion friend down and tells us he hasn’t called because his 12 year old daughter just passed away the day before. So I’m saying “What? Why am I here to work when you should be grieving?” and he replies “Well, I stole a ton of flowers from her funeral so I can cover you in them.” His face when saying that still send chills down my spine and actually just because of him I spend my time talking with girls on how to be safe and properly build their portfolio with great photographers. Needless to say, after he said that I did not continue working with him.

Remington Jewell modeling long white bootsHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve had a few embarrassing moments like when I had one of those famous nip slips or when I’m doing an outdoor shoot and people who are just passing by start to stop and watch and once there is a good sized crowd the wind decides to blow my dress straight up.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Honestly, all I think is models, especially women should take more time to talk to the young girls and women. The way some people perceive models can be all wrong and we shouldn’t let these unrealistic ideas and images wash the young minds.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I absolutely love working out! I start off with yoga early in the morning, then I run 6 to 10 miles, I then do my core exercises and light weight lifting and tons of squats and before bed I do yoga once more. I’m a huge sports fan too and basketball is my favorite, so me and a few friends will go play sometimes. Working out makes you very hungry as we all know, and I am always hungry, so eating right is very important to me. I only cook at home and the great thing is it is so easy to prepare healthy delicious food: I typically eat skinless chicken, brown rice, all my veggies, lots of salmon and other fish, fruits, whole wheat pasta, and much more, those are just my favorites!

Remington Jewell modeling a bikiniPlease share something people don’t know about you.

My mother passed away when I way 3 years old and my father was never really around. When I was 12 my father took my brothers and I out of school but didn’t put us in any homeschooling program. So at 12, being too young to work, I pulled together as much money as I could find and bought school books for my brother and I. I taught myself at a college level and got my first job at age 15 when I was able to get a job.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Absolutely not. We are all our worst critics and even though I may see every little “flaw” in myself I know I’m beautiful and unique. I don’t even look at it as “flaws”, how can one have flaws if we are all to be different and unique. Honestly the only thing I want to say I’d change is that I care far too much about anyone and everything, but maybe more people should.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?

I sing and dance like none other when I’m alone and boy, does it make me feel good! I’d probably die of embarrassment if someone were to catch me but when no one is around it’s all hanging out!

Interview with Baileigh Graham — Corporate by day, Model by night

Baileigh Graham is a 21-year old model residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Baileigh Graham, I am 21 years old, born and raised in Baton Rouge Louisiana to a single father. I have been dating the drummer of Ventruss for 3 years, and we have two fur-babies together, Moe and Felicia. I work a full time, legal assistant, corporate job during the day while I also attend Paul Mitchell Cosmetology school at night. I love local music, so on the weekends you will find me supporting local bands such as Ventruss, Brutiful, The Hitch Hiker Followed, Axes of Evil, and others.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I have always loved the beauty industry, but I never wanted to take any steps to being a part of it. Modeling was just an idea to get me comfortable with being a part of the industry, but ultimately modeling is actually the reason I decided to go to cosmetology school. It took off, and I have been in love with modeling ever since.

Baileigh Graham modeling a black braWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years I hope that I own my very own salon in Baton Rouge, and am happy and content!

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Since my weekdays usually consists of school and work, I only do photoshoots on the weekends. I do glamour, boudoir, fashion, and art photoshoots. My favorite is glamour photoshoots because you always feel like a million bucks afterwards!

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience from modeling happened not too long ago when I received the opportunity to join other models in my industry for San Diego Comic Con.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

If I could change the modeling industry I would make it more diverse. There are so many beautiful woman that think that they can’t or won’t do well in modeling because magazines portray women as stick figures. I feel like everyone should let out their inner Beyoncé and do a photoshoot at least once in their life. It really boosts your confidence.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

With school and work it’s really hard not to eat on the road a lot during the week, but I do try to limit myself to only drink water, absolutely no sodas! I wish I say I hit the gym more than I actually do, but I live a very busy lifestyle.

Baileigh Graham modeling black underpantsPlease share something people don’t know about you.

A lot of people don’t know that I am big into the local music around Baton Rouge. Although I cannot play a tune if my life depended on it, I love listening and supporting all the great talent in this area. The guys work so hard and it truly shows in their performances. I have met some of the best people through local music shows!

Would you change anything about yourself?

Before I began modeling I could list you a million things I would change physically about myself, but now I have all the confidence in the world and embrace my body just the way it is, so no I would not change a thing about myself. Modeling has truly brought self-happiness and more confidence than I have ever had before.

Are you currently in a relationship? How would you describe your partner?

Yes, I am currently in a three year relationship with the love of my life, Cameron. We literally got together 3 years ago on a drunken night and have been inseparable ever since, and although we met in high school, we were only friends back then. We actually moved in together just 2 weeks after dating, and all the pieces just kind of fell into place and it worked out for the best. He is a full time welder, a full time student, and plays in a local band, Ventruss. He definitely is my better half.

Interview with Glo — Full-time music major and model

Gloria, also known as Glo is a 21-year old model residing in New Orleans, Louisiana.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am a 21 year old model from Chicago that lives in New Orleans, where I have lived since 2012 when I started undergraduate at Xavier University of Louisiana. I am a music major that enjoys watching shows like Gotham, all types of movies, and learning about the human mind, and want to become a music therapist and have a serious modeling career as well.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I moved to New Orleans I knew I wanted to model, although all my life I was told I was too short to have a serious modeling career, but I wanted to try anyways when I went off to school. I was casted in my first fashion show when I was 19 years old, and from there I knew I could be successful as a model and decided to be an independent model. I found different brand ambassador jobs, working with a variety of photographers and muas, and just trying not to limit myself in the modeling industry.

Glo crouching next to a windowWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

As far as my professional goals I hope to be a music therapist, and being in a profession where I will have a career in music and helping others, specifically people with disabilities, seems ideal in my eyes. I also want to make a name for myself in the modeling world, despite my height, which is 5’4, and want to see myself doing beauty campaigns, parts modeling, catalog modeling, and if I could get my foot in the door of editorial work, I would just be on top of the world.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model every other, if not every weekend, since school keeps me pretty occupied during the week, but I always try to make time for modeling. These days I’m doing a lot of photo-shoots that are glamour and implied nude, but in the next couple of months I’m going to the casting call for New Orleans Fashion Week, and although I’m aware my height will be an issue, I’m ready to tear down some barriers.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Well among the worst, not being casted because of height or just my “out-the-box” quirky personality is discouraging, and although you would think being unique would be something to stand out, the truth is that it is not so much. I am a person who doesn’t limit themselves, I’ve had almost every hair color known to man, and I love this about myself, since I try just to have fun. As far as my best experience, I was recently selected to be a model for a hair show, which was so much fun, and I was treated like royalty. I got a dream hair color, and the cut show was an experience I’ve never had before, and I would definitely do it all over again.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Well, I was doing an implied nude shoot with a great photographer on my roof, and I wasn’t self-conscious, but the photographer was seriously concerned that someone may see me. We heard children playing and were sure I was spotted and was going to be reported for indecent exposure or something. But in the end I don’t think they saw anything, and it was just funny to me because I was just on my roof, butt-naked.

Glo in a dark backgroundIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I just wish the industry wasn’t so limited, specifically for petite models, since there are so many petite women who should be represented by models who are also petite.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I usually just try to be healthy, drink water and have full meals throughout the day, although I don’t do anything specifically, but just try to watch what I eat. Having a balanced meal with meat, vegetables, and fruit is important to me as far as being a model and just my overall health.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

People that know me know this, but if you don’t I’m a classically trained pianist. I’ve played piano since I was 7 years old, and until I went to College was determined I wanted to be a Concert Pianist.

Would you change anything about yourself?

If I would change something about myself, it would be to try and be just a little more outgoing as far as my social life concerns. If it were up to me I would be in the house 90% of the time, and I would try to be just a tad bit more open to going out, just a little.

Have you ever stolen anything?

When I was about 11 years old I went to Houston to visit my aunt, where she put me in a Christian camp her church friend told her about. Back then I was very shy and became friends with anyone who would accept me, and among those was a young girl who had a history of being a trouble-maker. So one day we’re hanging out and she’s braiding my hair, and then says my hair would look so pretty with beads but I don’t have any. She says that’s fine, and that there’s a beauty supply near and she would buy some, so we go to the beauty supply and she grabs them, then she tells me to turn around and puts the beads in my bag. At this point I’m just extremely confused and then she tells me to run. I take off like a pig that’s just been marked by a hot fork, and I run until I can’t run anymore. I get back to the camp and just feel horrible for what I’ve done, and I cry for an hour straight, although everyone at the camp just finds it extremely hilarious. I vow never to steal after that incident and never have.

Interview with Sabrina-Cole — Ordinary girl turned plus size model

Sabrina-Cole is a 26-year old model residing in Florence, Kentucky.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Los Angeles, California but moved to Kentucky when I was very little, although I feel like I belong both to the West Coast and the East Coast. I grew up in a small town but never felt like I belonged; I love living in the country but that came with people all around me having this very narrow minded way of thinking and I always felt the opposite. There was very limited resources to do anything other than the stereotypical southern hobbies like riding four-wheelers, camping, drinking, and others and that was never my forte.

I ended up having a child in High School and ever since then I’ve always felt like I was fighting back against the odds that are against me to just be another statistic in society. I have a wonderful family support which helped me graduate High School, and eventually I finished College and became a Certified Surgical Technologist and have a very talented son. I’m married with another one on the way. I never would have thought that I would enjoy my mother’s small farm but she has the small breed of goats and it has been such a great experience for me and my son, since I’ve actually always loved animals and wish I could have more of my own.

Sabrina-Cole modeling a tiger-colored blouse black and whiteWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I never thought modeling could be a reality for me, specially because I grew up as that awkward fat girl in school that had a different sense of style than everyone else, and my mother was always very supportive of letting me express myself with my wardrobe. When High School hit I flourished into a very pretty young woman who knew how to handle all her curves, and as a result I’ve always been so called “plus size” but I didn’t gain confidence in myself until High School.

Back when Myspace was that biggest craze I would post lots of pictures of myself, and lots of people in turn would say how pretty I was and I got lots of comments about how I should model, which at that point was just a faint thought: how could someone big like me ever be able to model, I wasn’t a size 0 and 5’10. Then in 2012, after my fiancé, who is now my husband, set up a surprise photo shoot for me because he knew how much I wanted to model but didn’t know where to start, but the photographer who did my first shoot mentioned the website Model Mayhem for me to use to get started. From there it opened a door for me to get into the modeling industry.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Moving forward in modeling I would like to get more involved in doing promotional work and establish my own business in modeling somehow, since I want to do and explore more diverse areas in modeling. I’ve always wanted my own studio where I can have more control over how creative and expressive my pictures can be; acting is something that would also be another creative outlet for me, and ultimately raising my children is a number one priority but if I can provide for my family by being a pretty face then that’s fantastic and if not then I always have my career as a Surgical Technologist.

Sabrina-Cole modeling a black corset with an umbrellaHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

For me my modeling comes in spurts and depends a lot on the seasons, as some photographers that I’ve worked with didn’t have their own studio and as a result having good weather is a must when working in those situations, while promotional modeling is usually seasonal too, plus in the area I live in promotional jobs don’t usually happen in the winter months. Most of my modeling styles are glamour and slightly provocative, and I’d like to do more areas but I have to feel comfortable with the photographer and be confident that they could represent my personality.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I don’t think my worst experience is that awful but to me it was a let down because I actually paid the photographer money and I barely liked any of my pictures. Instead of doing my own makeup I let the photographer do my makeup and I thought I was okay because she had claimed to do other people’s makeup and her pictures where stunning, but when she did my makeup and I felt like a clown. From then on I decided I’ll do my own makeup and stay safe.

I’ve had some mild ups and downs with personalities but I think that’s just learning the industry and who you become compatible with work wise; a model and a photographer have a special working bond because you’re both trying to capture art.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I’ve been in some uncomfortable posture poses thinking the photographer is nuts and I look like a fool then you see the picture and it’s great. Other times you do things that the photographer wants you to do and it’s definitely an epic fail.

Sabrina-Cole modeling a pink-white mini skirt and high heelsIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I think the modeling industry needs to be more diverse. I’ve had great feedback on my modeling but I know the size I am I’m not walking into a modeling agency and being picked up right there. We do see plus size models in advertisements but to me it’s not enough, and I’d rather choose my own destiny in modeling than let agency after agency put me down because I’m not what they classify as model material.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

My son loves to play basketball at home and always gets me to join in, and I’m also a believer that you can eat whatever you want but in moderation, although I’m sure there are skeptics out there that think because I’m big that I don’t watch what I eat but I don’t over indulge myself. I had my gallbladder removed when I was 18 and it completely changes your outlook on food and what you eat. I have to monitor my sodium content and I know what certain foods make me sick if I eat them.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Something people don’t know about me is that I love decorating for holidays: I would completely deck out the house every holiday if I could. I’ve always imagined having a home that my children would remember from their childhoods like, “oh yeah remember how every year mom would bring out those crazy Christmas pillows.”

Would you change anything about yourself?

The funny thing about me is that I would change everything from my thighs to my chest, which seems extreme to say but I wouldn’t mind plastic surgery. I think plastic surgery is an option that is okay for anyone as long as it doesn’t become too extreme; being in the operating room I’ve seen some great results and it makes you happy to see how someone’s confidence is going to change for the best.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

One day at work I wore a pair of undies that just wouldn’t stay up. They kept rolling down in my scrubs and it was killing me. You’re in surgery for a few hours and can’t touch anything that is unsterile. I tried pulling them up a few times while taking short breaks but finally I just couldn’t take it anymore, I took them off, stuck them in my locker and went commando the rest of the day in my scrubs until it was time to go home. Needless to say that pair of undies were never wore again to work.

Interview with Denise Tapia — Singer, Songwriter and Freelance Model

Denise Tapia is a 23-year old model residing in Atlanta, Georgia.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello! I am Denise Tapia. I was born in Brooklyn, NY to Dominican parents, but am currently residing in Atlanta, GA. I have been here 2 years now working as a Receptionist at a hair salon, and freelance model, as well as learning the ropes in the music business. I am currently in the process of returning back to school to receive my Bachelors in Biology.

Modeling has always been a favorite hobby of mine, which I have been doing since I was 18. My true passion is Music. I remember writing my first song in the 5th grade for a math project, in which I was awarded a page in the newspaper. Ever since then, I knew music was my calling. I am looking forward into expanding and collaborating with other great artists and personalities. My dream is to one day own my own record label.

Denise Tapia modeling a long necklaceWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My first official modeling gig was in 2011, when I decided to take a break from school and move to Los Angeles. It was a music video for Ace Hood. While in LA, I was also in a commercial for the Hairfinity hair product. I have always been a photogenic personality and love being in front of the camera.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

In 5 years, I see myself established with my Bachelors degree, as well as working on music and maybe so still modeling as a hobby. However, music is my first passion and I definitely see myself successfully owning my own label 10 years from now.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model often when I have the free time to do so. It consists mainly of music videos for various artists, including independent and established artists. I have also been in fashion shows, high fashion, urban, glamour, and implied nude modeling, and try to do photo shoots as often as I can.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best would definitely have to be me meeting new people, photographers, and the like, as well as learning more about the industry as I go, and looking back and actually seeing myself grow throughout the years. The worst would have to be when people don’t take business as business, and become unprofessional.

Denise Tapia pointing a gunIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes! I would change the height requirement for high fashion modeling!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I do not practice any sports currently, but I was an active cheerleader from middle school throughout high school. I am so slim, but I eat crazy. However, I do tend to exercise at least 2 to 3 days out of the week.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

People may not know that I was born with Inverted Nipples-grade 2, which is a condition where instead of pointing outward, the nipple is retracted into the breast. I recently found out about this condition. Also, I do not believe in religion.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would change my shyness. I tend to be very shy, especially when I really like people. I love everything physically about myself.

Have you ever gone without wearing underwear all day? Why & what did you do?

I hate underwear! I cannot remember the last time I have even purchased a Bra!

Interview with Victoria Catherine — Sales Manager by day Model by night

Victoria Catherine is a 23-year old model residing in Tampa, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Victoria Catherine, I’m 23 years old, born and raised in Seattle Washington! Go Seahawks!! I currently live in sunny Tampa, Florida with my Australian Shepherd named Riley who I adore. I guess the best way to describe me is that I’m an independent business woman. I love being successful and knowing that I did it all by myself. I work in sales as a main job but when I realized how easy and flexible modeling was I jumped right into it. It’s great side money and plus I enjoy getting all done up and feeling uber sexy. I’m very active. I enjoy bike rides, rock climbing, hiking, and snorkeling or diving. I have a boat which Riley and I love taking out in the gulf of Mexico. Despite my active lifestyle I don’t mind curling up with a glass of Pinto Nior while binge watching Netflix. As a Sagittarius born on Dec 11, 1991 I’m known as the international traveler, which couldn’t be more accurate. If I could spend my entire life traveling the world and meeting new people I would.

Victoria Catherine in bondageWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I had no interest in modeling, in fact as a young girl I was a big tom boy. I played every sport and swore I’d never wear a dress to prom. That didn’t last long, when my parents moved the family to Florida, my entire lifestyle changed. It was when I was at the mall with a friend of mine when a man approached us asking us if we had ever had an interest in modeling. I laughed and thought the guy was a creep. He gave my friend his card and she ultimately called and booked a session with him. When I saw how her pictures turned out I too decided to give it a try. The second I got behind the camera I instantly took a liking to it. I was surprisingly “naturally photogenic” the photographer told me. My mom and I proceeded to find an agent to sign with. Never managing to land the right one my career never really took off. I found that I could find my own gigs better than my agent and I didn’t have to give them a cut. Ever since, I’ve been managing myself. I’ve done quite a few promotional gigs and was even featured in a few European magazines.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My ultimate goal when it comes to Modeling is being on the cover of Maxim or Sports Illustrated. If modeling doesn’t work out in that way, I’d like to be on the cover of Forbes with an article discussing my fortune five hundred company that I’ll have one day.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Like I said Modeling is more of a hobby or side job if you will, so I’m not focusing as much on it as of late. However, I’m planning on pursuing it a little more and see where it takes me. I got into acting in College and that’s where I’ve had the most fun in my career. It’s just unfortunate that Florida’s not a very good market for acting which makes it very difficult to find projects to work on. With modeling I’ve done several promotional stuff which is what I find pays the best for me but if I had a choice I’d love to do really neat creative photo shoots. Glamorous artistic shoots. I love big hair and crazy makeup.

Victoria Catherine modeling a brown bikiniPlease tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

The best experience I’ve had modeling was when I modeled Gabbi swimwear designs in a fashion show. I love rocking the catwalk. I had cameras flashing and lights everywhere with music blasting, I was in the zone. Such a fun experience one I’ll never forget. My worst experience had to be when I was shooting a Great Depression shoot and it was at least 90 degrees in this tent they had set up for us to shoot in. It was a semi romantic/depressing shoot. We spent hours in this 90 degree tent with 4 other people trying to get the shot just right. By the time we got the shot my makeup was melting off my face, my hair was a frizzy mess, and I felt gross and grimy. The pictures ultimately came out great but man was that the most antagonizing shoot I’ve ever done. That’s the price you pay when you’re a model, people think it’s all fun and games but only if they knew.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Oh yeah, once I was shooting on a surf board off the shore a little bit and a big wave came blasting through, knocked me clear off the board and when I surfaced my boob had popped out. I was a little dazed and confused and hadn’t even noticed until the photographer I was shooting with pointed it out. I was so embarrassed. At the time I was only 18 so being young and in High School still it was traumatizing.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Honestly the industry today is what we’ve made it. Women in magazines have been portrayed as sex symbols since Marilyn Monroe was discovered. I don’t think it’s gonna change any time soon but if I had a say I’d censor it a little more. Call me old fashion but I like the 60’s and 70’s pin up models. I like the bikini models that didn’t have to pull down their bottoms to show their vagina lines peaking through. Women are sexy without having to be naked. Sure sex sells and I’m not saying I don’t like seeing it myself I just wish they classed it up a bit. I think it’s gotten almost distasteful over the years.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Haha my motto is I’m young and have a good metabolism so I eat whatever the hell I want. Sorry but life is too short to not enjoy all the delicacies the world has to offer. I’m sure it will catch up with me some day but until that day comes carpe diem. But I do tend to stay fit. I love being active. While I don’t slave away at the gym I do run, bike, and rock climb almost everyday.

Victoria Catherine climbing in a bathroomPlease share something people don’t know about you.

I have a strange obsession with touching things… like I’ll be in the grocery store and if it’s shiny or stands out in anyway I feel this sudden urge to touch it.

Would you change anything about yourself?

Sure I could say I hate my nose, or I can’t stand the fact that one foot is bigger than the other, or that one shoulder blade is higher than the other but you know what, that’s me. That’s what makes me unique. I’m happy with my overall self at the moment.

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

I think it would be such a blessing to know the exact moment I will be taken from this world because I’d be able to let go and live the life I’d always wanted! The first thing I’d do if I knew I only had 24 hours left to live is drop everything and fly to a destination that I hadn’t visited yet. Hopefully it won’t be too far that way I won’t spend too much time on an airplane, which would have to be First Class, by the way. I’m sure it would be somewhere tropical like Central America or even South America. Once there I’d scuba dive with sharks and explore what the deep sea has to offer. I’d jet ski naked. Do tons of alcoholic shots! Marry a stranger. I’d go horse back riding in the ocean. I’d hike a mountain in the rain forest. I’d try to leave some sort of mark on this world. And then I’ll die peacefully in an underwater bungalow.

Interview with Krissy Koven — Edgy Alternative

Krissy Koven is a 19-year old model residing in Orlando, Florida.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m into everything Halloween and horror. My favorite movies are the Saw series, Silent Hill, Sweeney Todd, Repo: The Genetic Opera, The Purge, House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects. Because I live in Orlando, I am naturally a huge theme park nerd and have worked at Sea World and Disney in the past, and also opened the Hogwarts Express at Universal Studios Florida and am currently employed at the Hard Rock Cafe Orlando. I absolutely love to travel, and experience different food and cultures. I am a huge animal lover and haven’t eaten meat in 8 years. My family is from Trinidad in the Caribbean and I used to live there for a few years. I am also a huge fan of fetish clothing and love anything dark and alternative. My favorite type of music is hard rock.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

When I was 15 I started taking modeling classes. I had heard my whole life that I was pretty and should be a model but never really considered it as a career or believed I could do it, but I took those comments as compliments. After 6 months of modeling classes was when I realized how impossible it was to get work. The agency I was with was John Cassablanca. All they wanted was money and didn’t care about me or my career at all… I eventually just gave up and didn’t do any type of modeling for a few years. About a year ago I decided to get back into it and pursue it seriously and I actually started getting paid jobs! Since then I’ve just been doing some shoots and making some extra money but I hope in the near future to turn it into a full time career.

Krissy Koven modeling lingerie outdoorsWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Honestly, I hate this question because I have no idea where I’m going to be in 10 years… I can tell you where I’d like to be. Obviously anyone’s goal in this industry is fame and success. I am no different. I want to be a successful model and actress. I would like to be more along the alternative line of work. The last thing that I want is to be considered mainstream… I’m looking forward to more tattoos and piercings. I am also thinking about starting cosmetology school since I love hair and makeup so much. More than anything I honestly just want to be out in L.A. That is my favorite city, and whether I’m still doing modeling or not I want to open up my own tattoo or hair salon.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

Right now I probably do one or 2 shoots a month. I have slowed down a bit from what I was doing before because it was getting to be too much with working so much and driving 2 hours out of town to see my boyfriend every other weekend. I mostly do artistic nude shoots and fetish video. I want to get into more glamour, alternative, and fetish photography.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I have a lot of stories to tell when it comes to modeling… most of them are negative honestly. It’s hard to find professional people these days… or at least hard to tell if they are or not. The best experience I have had was working with this photographer named Peterson in my area. He first found me and asked me if I was interested in helping him shoot for Planet Hollywood. The photos would be used to be put up around the new Los Angeles hotel and in all of the rooms. Working with him was amazing and his artwork is really incredible. We continue to work together today. My worst experience was with a “celebrity photographer” that had found me and said he loved my look and wanted to do some coaching on my facial expressions. To sum up the 3 hour shoot it went from bad to worse and ending in molestation… needless to say I never talked to him again and now bring someone with me to every shoot I go to.

KristyHave you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

No.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change all of the creepy perverted photographers who just want to see girls naked! I am so sick of those assholes!

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I hate sports and exercising, so I don’t… haha. The only time I ever exercise is I will occasionally take a pole dancing class but that’s about it. I don’t eat meat or most dairy so I’m practically vegan… if I didn’t eat seafood I would be. I’m allergic to a lot of foods so it’s hard for me to find things to eat.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I have a rare disease called Toxoplasmosis and am partially blind in my left eye from it.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would get my boobs done. I love fake boobs!

Do you have any fears or phobias?

I have claustrophobia and my biggest fear in life is being trapped in a place you don’t know how to get out of. Hence the reason the movies I despise the most because they legitimately scare the hell out of me are The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland.
