Interview with Jerrika Pettry — Farm Girl in a Models World

Jerrika Pettry is a 25-year old model residing in New York, New York.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Art lover, nature respecter and one very beautiful and inquisitive soul, that’s how I would describe myself. I was born and raised in WV, always barefoot and smiling, that’s the way everyone around saw me. I have had a love for all animals big or small for as long as I could remember, and have been on farms all my life and worked just as hard as my brother and tried to keep up with my father, respecting my mother and learning from my sister. The love I have for art is what lead me to modeling, as I express myself through my work and I always wish for my viewers to feel every shot as if it were a story being told. Hopefully my story is one beautiful and very long one. And I also wish for you the same, from one wildly free soul to another.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

Art, Art, Art is why my modeling career started, as at a very young age of 13 I was admiring and noticing simple beauty that most pass up everyday and do not see. I was sketching and painting, so modeling just opened a door to a more beautiful way of expressing the artistic side of myself.

jerrika-pettry-on-a-bedWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

Of course I would love to have a successful modeling career but also would love to have a job or hobby that has to do with wildlife. Of course everyone wants a family sooner or later; a nice farm with a family and hopefully a modeling career to be proud of, I would be content.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I can work in pretty hectic situations, as I am able to plan shoots back to back or take a week off, and only go as far as implied nudity, nothing erotic, as well as having done acting for several videos on YouTube and Vimeo. I have written my own story to the videos, being an artist of many genres not just one. So anyway, I love to act, do video and modeling of all sorts.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Well let’s see… of course the worst experience for a young model is the clients who will pretend to want “swim wear” sessions but end up saying “more skin”. That’s so frustrating but I suppose it’s a much needed lesson, and I’m sure that’s happened to all aspiring models or actors. My best experiences were always with a fellow art seeker like myself or working with animals. There will always be good and bad experiences but what matters is learning from them all.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

So funny but true. I was working on an implied piece for a New York gallery, and for this shot I had to be besides a horse. It just so happened my father has a very secluded farm and yes, a horse. As my posing started my father had came home and walked out to his barn to stumble upon his horse next to his semi naked daughter. It was very amusing to the photographer but completely embarrassing to my father and I. An out of the ordinary thing that happened was after another different shoot. It was another art piece that called for implied, and the photographer and I traveled into the woods to find a perfect place near a rock formation. After the shoot the next day I started itching very badly all over my body, and it turned out that I had been posing in and on top of poison sumac. This horrible stuff was all over and so very hard to get rid of. Almost four days of the most horrible itching and oatmeal baths I could stand.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Yes of course, who is ever completely satisfied with the way anything is ran. I would have a modeling agency in every state, no matter how big or small, as there are no agencies in WV, and I know there are some very beautiful hidden talents here. And the fake agencies out there, the ones that ask for money first. So many young girls waste their time with these places believing they are going to be a model, and it is heart breaking.

jerrika-pettry-naked-in-the-woodsDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I have never worn anything but size 0, as far back as I can remember it has been that way, and never really worried about my nutrition that much, but starting a year ago I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but I will only consume organic. I also eat tuna, but only in water, for my actual meals, as well as fruits and vegetables as much as I prefer. My grandmother was an herbalist and taught me a lot; I use what she had taught me to stay healthy and for a lot of my health cures. I’m very fit and it honestly comes from my very physical way of living, as I’m very active outdoors and am asked quite often what my work out methods are.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

Most people don’t know that I have had several pet snakes and tarantulas. I also spend my spare time cutting grass for a few elderly couples in my hometown when I get the time. I have also actually reset broken bones in several farm animals and am a very helpful non-certified veterinarian. Haha.

Would you change anything about yourself?

My goodness what a goofy question, who wouldn’t!? Haha gosh what a list, I believe everyone has a few things that they do not like about themselves, but I’m very very blessed and should not at all complain. But I would make my feet smaller, make my breasts larger, my hair blonder and my teeth whiter, to be specific and ungrateful sounding.

How do you think you are most likely to die?

Predator attack, bear, mountain lion etc. Possibly a snake bite. I am so active outside and am always in the woods, gathering herbs and such, and I believe I will not die a normal death, but it will have to be something very unlikely or very unexpected. Loving the nature will be the death of me.

Interview with Megan Starr Loxx — Your Variety Show

Megan Starr Loxx is a 26-year old model residing in Las Vegas, Nevada.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I am 26 years old, born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, started freelance modeling when I turned 18 back in 2008, and have been modeling full time since 2010. I love skiing, kayaking, and many other outdoor adventures, have a love for animals and try to give back by volunteering at animal shelters. I also have a passion for real estate, have dreams of owning many properties and renting them out to tenants, and want to fix up homes and flip them for a profit as well.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I always wanted to be a model, ever since I was a teenager, specially a Victoria Secret, or Venus lingerie model, as well as becoming a sex symbol. I started applying for modeling gigs the day I turned 18, and didn’t know where to look at first; I didn’t even hear about ModelMayhem until 2009, so I found all of my gigs by referrals during my first year of modeling, and took strange fetish gigs that I still participate in to this day. It has been a long and exciting journey for me.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I will continue to pursue modeling for as long as the money and the bookings are steady. I do a lot of fetish content, and I now produce and sell my own content, as well as I plan to continue to grow my fanbase and further market my brand. I would also like to hire a reputable web master and get my website up and running as I envision it by next year, and am currently hiring other models to fulfill custom video orders. I would also like to learn more about editing, and photoshopping, as I enjoy being self-employed, and I am grateful for the lifestyle modeling has given me.

Megan Starr Loxx modeling a black dressHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

How often I shoot varies greatly from month to month. There is a lot of traveling photographers that come to Las Vegas, and some are looking to hire models for professional projects they are working on, while others are what I call hobbyists. I shoot erotic, nudes, glamour, artistic, outdoors, fetish, and even video shoots. I am available to be booked for a large variety of gigs, don’t have a single tattoo, no facial piercings, no breast implants or other body modifications, and I try to keep an overall natural look that has become hard to find here in Las Vegas. Certain conventions such as CES, AVN, and Bridal, will bring in many photographers and I am always booked once to twice a day. The summer is also very busy for me, as all of June and July has had 1 to 2 shoots booked per day, with one day off a week. However, I have to use that one day off to get caught up on my custom video orders that fans placed the week before. Other times of the year are much slower, with only 2 shoots a week.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I’ve had some great experiences over the last 8 years modeling; for example, I have had the pleasure of driving a Bugatti topless, I’ve traveled all over the world modeling on all expenses paid trips and cruises, I’ve met some incredibly beautiful and talented people along the way, and I even created some lifelong friendships. I have had very minimal negative experiences modeling, and I would have to say the worst for me personally is the impersonation. Some photographers and videographers that hired me many times throughout the years, and had accumulated a lot of content of me, created stores and websites impersonating me, using my name, and writing in first person as their marketing strategy. This caused several fans to believe they were communicating with me directly.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Well… given the many different unique fetishes I have done over the years, yes tons of embarrassing things have happened on shoots. I have gotten used to humiliating myself on camera at work, but again this is just in the fetish category. There was this one time, I had to fly to Portland, Oregon for a 3 day trip were I was shooting two of those days for a well known adult site, and I had to provide my own wardrobe, as well as do my own hair and make up. Well the airline lost my luggage leaving me with nothing the entire trip! I had to use leftover wardrobe on set, I couldn’t do my hair for the shoots, and the cheap replacement razor I used gave me a horrible rash on my vagina. It was embarrassing.

Megan Starr Loxx modeling a white dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I wouldn’t change the modeling industry at all. I would however like to go back in time and never work with certain people.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I have been eating very poorly ever since my childhood. I am officially ready to change my eating habits drastically, and for the past 90 days I have been making better eating choices. I do exercise every single day for at least 30 minutes. I go on a 5 mile jog once a week, and love going to the gym.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I think it is always important to continue growing and bettering yourself as a person. I am not perfect and I have bad habits I am working on, such as time management, diet, and more. As for my physical image, I would change a couple things if I could. Such as removing my freckles, having a natural tan, being two inches shorter, having thicker hair, bigger lips on my face, smaller lips on my vagina. I realize all those features make up my unique look, and even though it isn’t my personal physical preference for myself, I am still beautiful.

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever peed?

The strangest place I ever peed was into a large vase used for flowers on my kitchen floor, and I had to hover over it. It was for a clip for my fetish and adult store. You can purchase it for $14.99 here, if you’re too curious and have to see for yourself.

Interview with Jessie Murray — Full Time Mom, College Student and model

Jessie Murray is a 25-year old model residing in Branson, Missouri.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Jessie, and I have been modeling since I was 6 months old thanks to my parents Edwin and Patricia, who helped me to start my career. I was born in Arkansas but have lived in Missouri all of my life, and my main hobbies are singing, dancing, acting, modeling, do some photography, play the guitar and so much more. I am interested in the arts as well, and I am currently in College majoring in automatics and studying to be a wildlife conservation officer. I do all that I can for my child and I plan on becoming successful.

Jessie Murray nude covered with a blanketWhen, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

My parents are my biggest supporters, because when I was six months old -during early 1991, the following year after I was born-, they got me started off in modeling at a very young age, taking me to photography and artists studios, where they used my images in their arts.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goal is to finish College so I can have a fantastic career to be sure that I can take care of my little family. If I make it in the modeling industry that would be extremely amazing, as I have been involved in it for so long and hope that I can do well with it at some point.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model a few times a month, although I used to model at least 3 or 4 times a week before I got my full time job and started College. I mainly do photo shoots, actings, pose for artists, as well as the catwalk; in general, I have done all genres except in the adult industry, which I don’t plan to either. Figure nude is OK for me, but if it looks unclassy I will certainly not do it.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experiences are meeting new people, as it is great talking to them, seeing their amazing work, appreciating that everyone is different, and I am happy to work with them all. Worst experience is meeting some photographers who do not give you any images after a shoot, and I have even met a few that did not give me any images at all.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

On one photo shoot I almost fell off a little cliff into some mud.

Jessie Murray modeling a red dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I wish people wasn’t so judgmental on race, hair and body shape, and I’d love to have them to be more understanding of models that are parents, as no matter what our children come first. In the same way, I cannot stand them picking favorites and not giving others a chance.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I like to hike, play basketball, go out dancing and just working out in general, since I am a pretty active person. I eat just about everything, I am on no diet.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I have a scoliosis problem.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would not change anything about myself. I am who I am, why change?.

If you had only 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

I would spend that time with my family, do things that my daughter wants to do, make as many happy memories with her that I possibly could and show her more of how much her mommy loves her. Her happiness is way more important to me, so no matter what I would spend it with her.

Interview with Oki Doki — Burlesque Performer and Avant Model

Oki Doki is a 22-year old model residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, I moved away as soon as I graduated high school and immediately got involved in the local arts scene of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The rest is history as the people I met helped catapult me into the performance and visual art world that I now find myself in. When I’m not behind the camera or on the stage, I’m typing away at my computer as a freelance journalist and editor for a local paper from back home, Florida.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

It’s seems silly, but I truly got my beginning when I got my senior portraits done for high school. I couldn’t believe how much I loved it, and the photographer seemed to really enjoy my energy! When my portraits came out looking something out of a magazine and not a yearbook I decided I wanted to start doing it professionally. After moving to Michigan I quickly became involved in the local burlesque troupe, and finding photographers to model for was easy after that.

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I have a lot of goals, with an umbrella goal of accomplishing at least half of them. The big two are expanding my horizons as a performance artist and going on an international tour. Some other goals include getting photos done I’ve only dreamed of, finishing college, and making a million dollars -at once of course-.

Oki Doki naked taking a showerHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I don’t model often anymore, and this is because I’ve just got a lot more picky about who I want photographing me and what type of modeling I want to portray. I used to do anything – so long as I was getting paid. Now I do a lot of t4t shoots with amazing photographers who can make my visions come true. I tend to fall into the erotic category, and though I love a good boudoir shoot I find myself leaning more towards art nudes and avant-garde themes.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

Oh boy. Let’s get the bad out of the way first… I had a horrid experience with a “photographer” who drank whisky during the entire shoot, despite having to drive to different locations, asked me inappropriate questions, and never got my photos to me because I turned him down when he asked me out. Now the best experience is literally any time I’ve shot with Tim Motley: the man is an utter genius, and gives the absolute best feedback. If he likes what you’re doing, you’ll hear a lot of “ohh fuck yeah”‘s and “holy shiiiiit”‘s – it’s hilarious and very reassuring.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Sometimes I’ll wear those cheap, fake nails you can pick up at the dollar store for shoots -although they don’t look cheap or fake on camera- so that I don’t have to do my real nails, which wouldn’t look as good anyway. Though the last time I picked them up, I forgot to pick up the nail glue you have to use to apply them. So, I used eyelash glue instead, which made sense and seemed like a fine alternative. The shoot was in a bathtub, however, and as the shoot progressed my nails kept falling off in the tub. My MUA was desperately fishing in the milky water for my lost nails every few minutes, and super-gluing them back on! The damn things didn’t come off for days after that… but we all had a good laugh.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

Of course, we all want to change something, though I think most of us can agree that it would be great if people weren’t so damn flaky. You don’t even want to know how many shoots I have booked that never even happened, because someone didn’t get back to me after agreeing to a damn date.

Oki Doki black body paintDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I’ve always done yoga, since I was a kid and my mom owned a shop that sold incense and crystals. Yoga has been a huge part of my life, and it is both a fantastic workout and stress reliever. Though on top of yoga I run in the summers -give me a break, I live in Michigan- and have recently been learning aerial silks at an aerials gym once a week. Nutrition has also always been a big part of my life, with a father who is a nutritionist. I try to keep a balanced diet, I never starve myself, and I never get fast food… ok, the occasional fry.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

In the realm of models and photographers, many people aren’t aware that I’m in a burlesque troupe. They’re called Super Happy Funtime Burlesque and it is the absolute best time of my life. We write zany, original music, tour the country and meet some of the most amazing people showbiz has got to offer!

Would you change anything about yourself?

Never. You should always love yourself, both on the inside and the outside, and if a change needs to be made, make it for yourself and always be healthy both physically and mentally. I love my life, my friends and the experiences I continue to make. I wouldn’t change a thing.

What was the meanest rumor ever spread about you?

High school was great in a lot of ways, but high school was also hell. I had a girl, who did not like me at all, spent weeks with one of her friends making custom t-shirts, headbands, and even socks! that said “Rheannon is a Whore” or some such variation of that sentiment. She even made an entire photo album on Myspace of their progress — though of course I didn’t see this until after she passed them out to any and everyone who would wear one on the last day of my Sophomore year. I made it through one class before I reported her and got to go home until the next year. In an ironic twist of fate, she later became my best friend, although we don’t speak anymore.

Interview with Bunny Girl

Bunny Girl is a 24-year old model residing in Long Beach, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born in Boston and currently live in Long Beach California, just moved here in June. I don’t have kids but I spoil my pet rabbit Puffins, he’s my furchild. I’m currently unemployed, hoping to make a career in music; I write my own lyrics and melodies and perform on the streets and at open mics. I like to go to yoga, take my bunny for walks in his petstroller, and I enjoy bringing people together and helping people out in any way I can; building community is important to me so if I have something I can share or give, I do it.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I haven’t been in the industry too long; I started modeling when I was a kid and my mom tried to get me and my sister to act, but we weren’t too interested back then. Then maybe 4 or 5 years ago my former boyfriend started taking photos of me and it was fun finding spots and coming up with creative ideas; I was always very photogenic, then I started contacting local photographers and I’ve worked with some in Boston as well as some here in California

What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

I really enjoy modeling, but it’s kind of hard finding jobs when you’re on the short side. My professional goals are to just do what I love, which is being creative. I just want to start focusing more on my music because to me music is so universal, it brings people together and I just want everyone to realize their purpose and potential; we all have problems, but everyone here deserves love and I want to spread that kind of awareness to my brothers and sisters. In five to ten years I see myself having some type of positive influence. I don’t do anything for money or fame I do things with love, my purpose here is to unite people and help those who are lost.

Bunny Girl wearing a black dressHow often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I model at least once a month; I mainly do shoots, glamour, art nudes, bikini, sometimes I get hair shows as well; again it’s hard finding work when you’re on the short side, but it’s awesome when I find open minded photographers who are just looking to get creative because creativity is very important.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

I went on a group beach shoot in Malibu; there were probably 6 girls there and ten photographers. I had my make up done and the artist painted my lips yellow which I thought was awesome because I like to paint my face crazy and put diamonds on it, so I was down. Only one photographer was into it and I felt a little discouraged, but I’m unique, I like to be different and I’m always going to be myself where what I want no matter how outlandish it is to me, it’s their loss.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

I actually got scammed on Model Mayhem, someone posing as a photographer sent me a check, told me to cash it, then deposit some into the “designers” account. The check bounced and the bank took all my money, luckily I was able to get the money back, I felt so stupid, but I give everybody the benefit of the doubt. I like to believe that the world is full of good people because we are inside the same; some call it vulnerable, or naive, but I’m not a bitter cold person, I give everything a chance.

Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I’ve always dreamed of being on the runway; I wish they allowed shorter girls to work runway and fashion, the industry should be more open minded when it comes to height and weight. If you look good and you have that presence then why not give the model a chance?.

Bunny Girl with naked shoulderDo you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

Stretching is very important. I go to yoga at least 5 times a week, the best exercise is dancing: it’s fun and it gets your energy up. As for nutrition I’m vegan, I don’t eat any kind of animal products. I like to make vegetable dishes, soups, salads. People assume it’s hard to eat this way, but it’s actually very easy, they even have vegan ice cream and cookies that taste better than the regular stuff.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I’m very shy but when I’m on stage or in the spotlight that seems to melt away and I feel I’m where I’m supposed to be.

Would you change anything about yourself?

No, I appreciate what I have on the outside and to me we look the way we do for a reason; the way we appear outside is how we are supposed to be and it’s perfect.

What was the meanest rumor ever spread about you?

Boys seem to think that just because you are comfortable enough with your body to wear something revealing that you’re automatically a whore; I like to wear tight clothes and lacy see through stuff, to me it’s about style, so some guys start saying rumors that I have STD’s and that I sleep with a lot of people, but I don’t take anything personally, it’s just a reflection of their insecurities and I empathize with that.

Interview with Amy Ellison — Quirky Kansas turned Model

Amy Ellison is a 21-year old model residing in San Diego, California.

How would you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Amy. I was born in Wichita, KS. I came to California little over a year ago, and I plan on staying here for a long time. I have a brother and a sister, both older than me, who also happen to look nothing like me! I got all of the unique, recessive genes of the family, so I’m an interesting mix. I love anything artistic, peaceful, or musical. I love animals, crafting, and driving. I’m currently a commercial model and actress. I have walked in seven fashion shows, I have two publications, two music videos, and two commercials. I am also the face of TylerCody Designs and apparel, and I have worked for 7 designers in total.

When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?

I actually got into modeling by accident! I heard a friend mention she needed a model to test out an idea for a shoot, so I volunteered. The pictures turned out great, and she showed them to her mentor, who happens to shoot for Fox and Betsey Johnson. He told her that he wanted to work with me, and it took off from there. Once I learned how to find and make my own bookings, it has gone since there. I started modeling a about a year and a half ago, and I absolutely love what I do!

Amy Ellison face closeupWhat are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

My personal goals at the moment are to find a good house, school, and peace. I work towards finding personal peace constantly. My professional goals are to be published as much as possible, to be agency represented, and to be successful in what I do. In ten years, I see myself starting to raise a family, and continuing my education.

How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?

I feel like I am constantly working, but in all honesty, it’s almost all computer work. Finding the jobs, researching the clients, applying, playing back and forth on booking jobs, and minute details…I will spend more time booking a job than I will at the actual job. I mainly do portfolio building, glamour, pin-up, beauty, lifestyle and select art nude work. I have about 1 to 3 shoots per week.

Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.

My best experience has to be with TylerCody Designs and Apparel. I absolutely love working with her, and I jump at the chance! Her clothes are up my aisle, she’s an awesome boss, and she is absolutely hilarious. I’m just lucky to have a really cool boss.

My worst experience in modeling was getting sick the first time I got my body painted. That was the most awkward thing.

Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?

Absolutely! I have flashed a few freeways, had to hide in a closet, be covered in fake blood, and been wrapped up in tape. I have been anything from docile farm girl, all the way to portraying evil and lust in a music video!

Amy Ellison wearing an orange dressIs there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?

I would change he height requirements for agencies. There are girls that just photograph taller than they are, and that agencies just need to look at what they look like in photograph as well. I’m 5’5″, and I photograph at least 5’7″.

Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.

I really just changed my habits. I eat smarter, in smaller, but more frequent portions. I park in the back of parking lots, and make multiple trips every time I can. I play the occasional volleyball game, I always wind up hiking about once a week for work or friends. I eat mostly vegetables and light meats, I use simple dressings and flavors (vinaigrette and just salt) and drink tea instead of soda. This is the only body I’m going to have. I need to take care of it, because I plan on living in it for a very long time.

Please share something people don’t know about you.

I can open and unlock most doors with my feet. I call it being “pediambidexterous”.

Would you change anything about yourself?

I would make my hair grow faster! It gets thick very easily, but it just won’t grow length-wise.

What superpower do you wish you had? Why?

I would love the ability to stop time. I just feel like time keeps speeding up. I want time to breath some days.
